The campaign received another major boost from the Halminen Family Foundation and Lakeside Self Storage, long-time supporters of Bowmanville Hospital Foundation. The family made a $2-million-and-1-dollars gift to the redevelopment project, setting yet another record for the campaign. Although COVID-19 took centre stage the latter part of our fiscal year, it did not slow our progress. The Campaign Cabinet has been working diligently, meeting with many of our kind residents to move the campaign forward and continue our progress. Gift-by-gift we are making strides in the right direction. Community investment is fundamental to our campaign’s success and to enhancing exemplary patient-centered care and services at Bowmanville Hospital. We invite you to join us on this important journey for the life and health of our community and region. www.bowHF.com . 5

Annual Fundraising Gala The Venetian Masquerade Ball was definitely one for the Foundation’s record books. On Friday, October 25, 2019, the Bowmanville Hospital Foundation hosted its 33rd Annual Fundraising Gala at the Ajax Convention Centre with 470 guests in attendance, mysteriously masked and ready to celebrate health care and its importance to the community. Thanks to the generous support of our sponsors and guests, an incredible $439,000 gross revenue was raised to support the redevelopment and expansion project. Also, enough funds were raised to purchase six new ventilators through the Breath of Life Fundraiser. The biggest surprise of the evening came from the Halminen Family Foundation and Lakeside Self Storage who announced a $2 million and 1 dollar pledge to the redevelopment and expansion project. Kirk Kemp, Chair of the We Care, We Can Campaign who announced the gift, even took the opportunity to have a little fun. He went on to comment about Mr. Halminen’s attempt to “upstage” his earlier gift contribution to the campaign, by making reference to the one dollar more donation than the Kemp’s pace setting gift to the Foundation. It was a fantastic evening, filled with true philanthropic spirit, and excitement for community health care. 2019 Gala Sponsorship Committee Brenda Miller, Devon Daniel, Erin Kemp, Patty Hampson and Tanya Pardy 2020 ANNUAL Gala SAVE THE DATE Join us for the Bowmanville Hospital Foundation’s 34th Annual Fundraising Gala Gala WEEN All proceeds goes Friday, October 30, 2020 to support the redevelopment and expansion project for Bowmanville Hospital. Community Kindness Thank You For Your Support During COVID-19 We are grateful for the tremendous outpouring of support from our community. Your donations of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), wellness products, food items and financial contributions helped to purchase essential items needed by the Bowmanville Hospital during the COVID-19 crisis. We witnessed acts of heroism by our health care professionals that further demonstrate the value of our medical community, who without question go above and beyond for the residents of Clarington. The touching letters of encouragement and acts of kindness did not go unnoticed. We are humbled by the incredible response and overwhelmed by the level of care and concern expressed for one another. An Update On The Breath Of Life Fundraiser Every breath and every life is worth preserving! Thanks to our donors and their incredible support, the money raised through the “Breath of Life” Fundraiser made it possible to purchase six (6) new ventilators for the Bowmanville Hospital. Based on a thorough review by a clinical group of hospital professionals, the Getinge Servo-u model is the ventilator of choice. This model features multiple options for protective ventilation which helps to protect the lung and optimize ventilation delivery. It is highly intuitive, easy to use and adaptable to individual treatments and patient conditions. This means more patients in all phases of ventilation – controlled, supported and non-invasive – can benefit from advanced lung protective strategies. “We’re very grateful for this investment. This modern piece of critical patient care equipment features all the bells and whistles and will support the needs of our Critical Care Units and Emergency Department now and into the future.” Susan Ord, Patient Care Manager – Bowmanville Hospital The following donors made a gift of $500 or greater in support of the “Breath of Life” Fundraiser: • A Vine Affair • Jeff Goldman • Art & Christine Kooy • Jennifer Knox • Association of Hospital • Kaitlin Corporation Volunteers-Bowmanville • Lindsey Park • Charles G.
