MONTECARLO FROM JMD’S DESK Dear Family Members, Greetings! It is my pleasure to connect with you all through this platform. I hope that you and your family members are safe and healthy. "Be careful, be watchful. We still have a huge risk of this virus. This pandemic is not yet over. Be vigilant". Every day, the news is dominated by details of the COVID-19 pandemic. New, conflicting information is available daily. The number of confirmed cases continues to grow, as does the number of countries affected. The impacts on human health and the ultimate scale of the crisis are still being determined. During this pandemic, the good news is about profoundly viable vaccines that give us new expectations, but it doesn’t change the fact that lots of people are struggling—and that may be the case for many months to come. The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus. Social distancing remains a key way to mitigate spread. Maintain at least 6 feet distance between yourself and others to reduce your risk of infection. Another key measure is to wear a mask, Face masks have become essential accessories in protecting our self from contracting COVID-19. I express my sincere thanks to all employees and their family members for putting their best efforts into this pandemic situation during F.Y. 2020-21.I expect similar passion and dedication from all of you during the new F.Y. 2021-22 to achieve the higher milestone. Happy, cheerful, and prosperous New Financial Year 2021 – 22. Please do look after yourselves and your families. Stay safe. Stay Healthy. With Regards, Mrunal Patel Joint Managing Director "The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall." - Nelson Mandela 02

FESTIVAL CELEBRATION AT SITES 72nd Republic Day Celebration at Sites India celebrates Republic Day on 26 January, and this year the country celebrated its 72nd Republic Day to mark the day India became a sovereign republic. The Indian Constitution came into effect on 26 January 1950, which affirmed India’s existence as an independent republic. January 26th was chosen as the date because on this day in 1930, the Indian National Congress proclaimed Purna Swaraj, the declaration of India’s independence from the colonial rule. We had celebrated Republic Day at our various project sites with all spirit and patriotism. Following are the few glimpses of Republic Day Celebration. COVID – 19 WARRIORS EXPERIENCES My Isolation Experience: On 07 Oct 2020, I was diagnosed as positive not personality-wise but Corona Virus Positive. The nurse at Village Health center near our project site, after testing the samples collected from my nose, she informed me that, you are tested positive. She kept telling me to relax and not worry. Everything will be fine. Be careful enough to maintain social distance, and keep sanitizing your hands at regular intervals. Since I am a Diabetic Patient, It was not an ordinary case. The center staff informed me of a big center nearby where the assigned doctor is available. The waiting time was long enough for me as they have given me information that I cannot leave the center without any doctor's permission. When she came and checked my medical details, she convinced upon me to get admitted to Covid care center because it was very well equipped, In case of emergency instead of Home isolation as I kept suggesting. However, I agreed with them because my experience with the Government institutional quarantine center was horrible. That was my first experience traveling by ambulance. Somehow I managed to get my daily stuff from Camp by one of the colleagues. Convincing my family at home to not worry was a more difficult task. Unexpectedly living in a Covid care center was not that bad as compared to the Institutional Quarantine center. I spent my time in rest, yoga, YouTube, video calls with family, friends, and well-wishers. Do's and Don’ts during this period can be googled, but I must say that avoid excessive use of KADHA because it may help you to get Covid negative but will surely hurt your intestine and bring setback to your digestive system. The Good news of the vaccination process is kick-start on a massive scale. India is playing a very vital role in helping the poor and needy to get inoculated across the globe On a positive note, this isolation period at Covid care center helped me get rid of smoking. - Praveen Kumar Singh (Dy. Manager – Mining – Umarsar Site) My experience during COVID affect Before getting Covid Positive, I am too confident that I may not be affected because I am taking measures like masking and social distancing. Also, I am not having any long-term health complications like Diabetic or BP, etc. I am doing my duties regularly. Suddenly one day, I felt uneasiness in my body. I think I have a fever. Still, I haven't realized that this an effect of COVID, and I thought it's a NORMAL fever. However, I got myself isolated in my room. I called my family, and they consulted our family doctor. He advised some medicines along with vitamin C and multivitamin tablets. I have lost interest in taking food. The next day I got the news that some of my colleagues got Covid positive, then I went for testing, in I am getting fever frequently and I went to a nearby hospital and taken an injection for relief from fever. The next day I got my report as positive. At that time, I am getting confused and scared. And some people advised me to join a hospital, while some advised hospitalization is not required.Someone told me that if you do not admit to the hospital, the virus may affect your inner organs, and maybe you have to face this affects your entire life. My family members worried and forced me to return home. They advised hospitalization at my home place. I think a lot and, I felt that if I went home, it is not safe for my family, then I have decided to admit to a nearby hospital and “The only way you are going to have success is to have lots of failures first." – Sergey Brin 15
COVID – 19 WARRIORS EXPERIENCES hospitalized in a private hospital. Montecarlo provided me a health card. But due to the tense moment, I do not get an idea to identify any cashless hospital. After hospitalization, I am treated for few days and got discharged. With my experience, I advise the following things: Do not be overconfident that we cannot get the COVID positive. Take all the precautions like masking, social distancing, frequent hand washing. Avoid unhealthy habits. Take timely medicine to control long-term diseases like diabetes, BP, etc. Take healthy food, increase the take of fresh fruits, dry fruits, lemon, etc. try to avoid junk foods. If you have any health cards, please identify cashless hospitals nearby to avoid huge investments during hospitalization. Take steam vaporizer in the morning and evening. Add Dettol or Savlon in bathing water. Consume at least two lemons per day Completely try to isolate and avoid contact with near and dear after getting positive. Be cool and take a rest. Try to take proper sleep. Do have fresh and hot food. Make some prior arrangements for isolation at your residence. Do some meditation, yoga or exercise regularly. -Madhu Babu Gampala (CPM – Highways – Sinnar-Shirdi Road Project) Covid – 19 Phase It was all of a sudden when I realized that symptoms of Covid-19 were present inside my body. It was initially a nervous moment for me, but my determination makes me calm down, and I started taking treatments instantaneously. The silence of aloneness was a hurdle. But, I converted this into an opportunity to learn and read new things. After all, I had to lead my team for project work too, so passing time was not an issue. Since I was confident about my immune system very well, so want to get well soon and resumed my duty with my full of my sincerity. -Brahmaji Boddu (Dy. While we can't control the temperature outside, we can make sure that we are doing all that we possibly can to stay safe and healthy. The harsh climate can drain you off your energy, making you prone to infections, vomiting, nausea, prickly heat and low blood pressure. So here are some essential tips to beat the heat this season – 1. Hydrate and Hydrate Consider this as the number one rule. Staying hydrated is very crucial during summer as it ensures that your body keeps functioning normally. As the heat goes up, it results in excessive sweating, which also reduces energy levels and electrolytes from your body. Sip on flavoured water by adding in mineral rich fruits like watermelon, lemon, kiwi, etc., or make slushies and lemonades at home. "Live in the sunshine, swim the sea, drink the wild air." - Ralph Waldo Emerson 17
2. Eat Regularly, But Eat Light Summer time tends to reduce one's appetite because of the excessive heat. But it is important for you to eat regularly because your body requires the nutrients to fight the heat and keep you healthy. Having said so, the best thing to do is to follow a light diet including summer veggies like Squash, Lauki, Cucumber, Ivy gourd, etc. Avoid heat generating foods like meat, eggs and other proteins, and even salt intake. 3. Cold Water Showers One of the quickest ways to cool down is to step into a cold water shower. It will instantly make you feel refreshed. Also try washing your feet and face with cold water before you go to sleep. It is said that placing an ice pack on your neck can work wonders too to cut down body temperature. Even wiping yourself with wet towels can help. 4. Don't Exert Yourself Physical activity is essential for good health, but during summers, make sure that you don't over exert yourself. You need your energy levels to keep you active. Exercise early morning or late evening, to indoor gyms rather than engaging in outdoor activities 5. Wear Loose Clothes Needless to say, to stay cool you need to wear loose clothes so that there is good air circulation. Ditch your synthetic dresses and trousers and stick to cotton. Even while heading out, keep yourself covered from the harsh rays. 6. Stay Indoors Keep a check on weather forecast. This is important because you can then track the hottest days and plan accordingly.
