PROGRAMMES FOR PRE-SCHOOL & PRIMARY - An outreach programme of Singapore Writers Festival for schools and the community
How should I prepare my students for the programme?
You are encouraged to read some of the authors works out loud to your students and/or
encourage them to find out more about the speakers on their own.

This would help your students to engage with the speaker on a more
meaningful level and maximise their learning experience.

Will there be book sales and signing? How will they be managed?
Once your booking has been confirmed, a WGR representative will link you up with Closetful of Books, our official
bookseller, to discuss book sales. You may pre-order the books before the event day. Closetful of Books will accept cash,
cheques and bank transfers for individual orders. You may also order books for your school’s library. Closetful of Books will
extend a 10% discount off the retail price on the library orders and issue an e-invoice.

You may also request for on-site book sales and signings. Arrangements will be made at the discretion of the bookseller.
Please set aside at least 30 minutes for this after the session.

Must I be present at the session?
Yes. Please let the WGR representative know in advance if you cannot be present and appoint a fellow teacher to take your
place and provide his or her contact information.

C INTO THE WILD (WITH WORDS)

Terkam! Lompat!

Pounce! Leap! What other words can your students use to describe how animals move? Through her
picture book Saya Seekor Harimau, author Nur-El-Hudaa Jaffar will introduce words to describe
animals and their behaviour. Let your students’ imaginations go wild as they act out these various
movements and describe how to transform their rooms into an animal’s habitat.

PERSOALAN “BAGAIMANA JIKA” DAN REKAAN CERITA
        by Nur-El-Hudaa Jaffar

         Recommended for: P4 – P6 (Ages 10 – 12)

Starting to write a story can be challenging. Let Nur-El-Hudaa Jaffar show your students how the
question ‘What if?’ can help them to construct stories from familiar tales. Using the story of Badang,
which was first recorded in the Sejarah Melayu, Nur-El-Hudaa will demonstrate how different decisions
at key turning points impacted the story and guide students to create new adventures for Badang.
