I was walking by the sea in Normandy on a mild spring morning. The sun was already shining and there was a light breeze. Then I passed a beautiful, elegant woman gracefully clasping a lace parasol. This brief moment of fleeting bliss was followed by a sensation of emptiness. Frustrated, I tried to make sense of this feeling. I was filled with a desire to relive the waking dream which this encounter had inspired. This woman’s parasol had trigged a romantic crisis in me.. I realised that the disappearance of these artisan objects, the loss of historic reference points and values of yesteryear, combined with the malaise prevalent in modern society, had awakened a deep and melancholy disquiet within me. It was glaringly obvious that we had to put the magic back into the world, rediscover beauty, and establish a harmonious relationship with our industrial society. Some 300 years of French history have culminated in a new artistic movement Industrial Romanticism. Elinor upholds the values and champions the ethos of this artistic world of quintessentially French luxury. Elinor diffuses its soothing light so that everyone can rediscover harmony, refinement, and a taste for rare and precious craftsmanship. « At the races, Mademoiselle Léa had a little white hat and a little white sunshade, simply enchanting.
