Dearly Beloved in Christ: In this edition of the bulletin, you will find the Annual Financial/Pastoral Report for the 2021 Fiscal Year (June 2020 – July 2021), which was prepared in conjunction with our Parish Finance Council. Please take home the report and review it at your convenience. Pastoral Council This past year is one that has scarred our collective consciousness due to the disruptions and untold hardships that were ushered in by the Pandemic. In spite of these, Rev. Fr. Jude Ezuma - Pastor you all stood tall in your generosity. I am grateful to all of you for your sacrifice and I truly Carolyn Sunseri - Chairwoman “give thanks to my God at every remembrance of you, praying always with joy in my every prayer for all of you, because of your partnership for the gospel” (cf. Philippians 1:3-5). Bill Kennedy - Co-Chairman Generosity is both an act of faith and an expression of gratitude to God for His Dana Ashbacher - Recorder blessings to us. As His children and beneficiaries of His great gifts, we are all called to faithful stewardship. For a disciple of Christ, stewardship is a way of life and is to be expressed Thomasine Allen through hospitality, prayer, formation and service. In other words, we are exhorted to work diligently to make our parish community a place that is more welcoming and hospitable to Amy Bly all; be engaged in the liturgical life of the parish and foster our prayer life, especially in the Paula Fairbanks family; take advantage of the different opportunities that are being offered for formation as disciples of Christ; and not be afraid to serve and volunteer in the parish. Mary Ramirez So how can we go about this? Here is a practical recommendation: next week, we Ramona Trevino will be having our Annual Parish Stewardship Fair at the Family Life Center at St. Patrick’s. At the fair, we will be showcasing the different ministries that are present in our parish. We Israel Garza invite you to stop by, to learn more about the different ministries, and to become more Annette Denton engaged in the parish through any one of these ministries. I am also excited to announce that later this month, also, we will be launching our parish One Faith, One Family Campaign. This campaign is the culmination of the Master Plan initiatives that were begun by the Franciscans to respond to the needs of our growing parish; the most pressing being the need for a central location to serve as our Parish Life Center. Do School Principal not be afraid to put your gifts of Time, Talent and Treasure to service for the preservation and promotion of our Catholic legacy and faith on the island, and I thank you all in Nadia Canino anticipation of your generous cooperation. May we continue to work for a thriving Holy Family Parish, united in the joy of the Holy Spirit and in charity, as missionary disciples, amen! Your servant-leader in Christ, Finance Council Fr. PATIENCE Patience is one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit. ”Patience is the calm acceptance that things can happen in a different order than the one I have in mind” (David J. Allen). It is hard to wait on God and worst still waiting on others, but with a little patience in our hearts, we can make a difference. This great virtue we receive from the Holy Spirit of God, helps us to endure hardships and pains, and stop complaining when we feel abandoned by God. Patience keeps us close to each other even when we are hurt or angry. All our wedded couples who have lived for more than 20 years still married and ready to continue until the day they are called out of this world by our Creator are the true example of patience. They have lived out this virtue to the fullest and the Holy Spirit of God will be very proud of them. As Joyce Meyer rightly said, “patience is not the ability to wait, but how one acts while waiting.” Yes, it is not all about waiting, but my attitude while I wait is what matters. The children of Israel according to the book of Exodus 20:2-12 became impatient with God after all that God did for them before the Egyptians; none of that generation entered the Promised Land because of their attitude towards God. Moses was the greatest prophet that ever lived; the only man who spoke to God face to face, though he is in heaven, he did not enter the Promised Land because he was impatient with himself and the people of God. He allowed anger to control him and struck the rock twice when he was only told by God to speak to the rock at Meribah-Kadesh. Impatience can cause a lot of damage in our lives and in our relationship with others. Remember that love is patient and that is the reason it bears all things and endures all things too. Patience can help us overcome all negative thoughts about others and drop all ill-feelings and hatred, and be more Christ-like in our actions and attitude toward others. Now I know that a little patience when I am angry, will save me from a lifetime of regrets. Let us pray together: Dear Lord, Please, I am sorry for the times I have failed to be patient with myself and others. Help me to accept the things I cannot change; to change the things I can; and give me the grace to see You working in all that I encounter daily. Amen.
