A message from our President & CEO Every day, I’m thrilled to see the Rochester Museum & Science Center fulfill its promise by exploring the past and present through exhibits, programs and experiences; I’m even more excited to see what the future will bring! RMSC inspires a better future for all - that’s the first part of our mission statement and we work tirelessly to make it happen, but we can’t do it without you. It is the collective impact of our donors, members, trustees, stakeholders, volunteers, and staff that allows us to create this inspiration in every visitor, participant, and curiosity seeker that we encounter. Tonight’s event is a celebration of RMSC - of what we’ve accomplished and what we’ll continue to do to encourage curiosity, spur discovery, and inspire a better future for all as a part of our thriving community. I’m so happy you’ve chosen to travel back in time with us this evening. Please know that what we accomplish here tonight will have a lasting impact on the future of this organization and the future of the region. Thank you! I can’t wait to see what our bright future holds. Gratefully, Hillary Olson, President & CEO
A message from our Event Chairs If you could travel back in time, where would you go? Would you go to the Pleistocene Epoch – the Ice Age that began over 2 million years ago when glaciers covered upstate New York? Perhaps you would choose a time in the more recent past… around 10,000 years ago, when glaciers retreated, mastodons roamed, and the first people arrived in our area, the forebears of the local Omàmiwininiwak and Haudenosaunee people? Tonight we go back more than 75 million years to the Mesozoic Era when dinosaurs roamed the earth. We welcome you to the 2021 Innovation Celebration, an historic event to support the Rochester Museum & Science Center. This year’s theme, “An Adventure Back in Time,” invites you on a journey through history to explore the Mesozoic Era through the lens of science and nature. From our dig site experience to our upcoming Expedition: Dinosaur exhibit and archaeology days event, tonight we celebrate all the experiences, exhibits, and events at the RMSC, Strasenburgh Planetarium, and Cumming Nature Center that get our community thinking about the past and inspired about the future. The RMSC has played a vital role in our community for 109 years. Your support during tonight’s event enables the RMSC to foster a passion for science and learning for future generations through innovative programs and experiences that inform us about science, illuminate the timeline of history and culture, and invite us to learn about, protect, and enjoy our natural world. Thank you for joining us tonight. We believe in the mission of the Rochester Museum & Science Center to inspire a better future for all through curiosity, exploration, and participation in science, culture, and the natural world. Our family has been inspired by the RMSC for four generations and with your help, we will inspire the next generation of “time travelers.” We hope that this will be the most fun that you’ve had in 75 million years! Doug & Stephanie Dickman Innovation Celebration Chairs
