Notification Notice of work – Update on works in Amersham January 2021 | www.hs2.org.uk High Speed Two (HS2) is the new high speed railway for Britain. Notice of work – Update on Notification works in Amersham www.hs2.org.uk What does the work at Gore Hill involve? Fusion will continue widening and carrying out associated road improvement works to some of the highway approaches to the Gore Hill roundabout – A355 and A413 - as detailed overleaf. To minimise the disruption to the community and motorists Fusion will be carrying out this phase three work at night using traffic management. Outside of these times the roads will be open as normal. You will find the locations of the work areas on the map attached for your reference. What are we doing? Phase two utility diversion The previously advised utility diversions are proceeding as planned and are due to conclude on the 5 February 2021. The working hours are 9:30am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday. A number of utility diversions have been completed. The remaining UKPN electricity diversion within the verge of the western approach to the A413 is underway. We will continue to work hard to ensure that any impacts on residents are kept to a minimum during these and all of our remaining works. During phase two we will continue to operate with narrow lanes. No road closures or diversions are required for phase two. UK Power Network – Anticipated start date week commencing 25 January 2021 concluding by the 5 February 2021. Phase three (remaining junction improvements) – Monday 8 February 2021 to Saturday 10 April 2021. Work will take place each night between – 9pm and 5am, Monday to Friday. The works will finish on Saturday at 5am in the morning and not restart until 9pm the following Monday. Outside of these hours the A413 will be open as normal. Notice of work – Ongoing Notification works in Amersham www.hs2.org.uk The remaining junction improvement works will be carried out in the locations detailed overleaf. Works to be carried out are similar to works undertaken in phase one. Works will include: Temporary traffic management on the Gore Hill roundabout, to include three way traffic lights where required Temporary lane closures Overnight closures of the A413 Amersham bypass between Gore Hill and the A413 roundabout junction with London Road West and London Road East in both directions, with a local overnight diversion similar to the diversion used during phase one. This closure will be put in place each night throughout phase three from 8pm and will be removed by 5am the following morning. Site clearance activities Localised widening and reconstruction of existing carriageway Surfacing works on the A413 locally to the Gore Hill roundabout Reconstruction of footpaths and road crossing including installation of kerbs and tactile paving Cleaning of existing road drainage and installation of new localised road drainage at the widening locations Renewal of road markings Relocation of street light columns and associated services Reinstating verges including top soiling and seeding It is anticipated that works will be completed in six to eight weeks. Overall timescales for this phase include for delays. An example of a delay could be a lost shift due to adverse weather conditions. How will the phase three works at Gore Hill affect me? We are working at night to reduce the impact on traffic travelling along the A413 and A355. The works will be closely monitored for noise and we will install temporary acoustic barriers around the work site to reduce the noise of our machinery as much as possible. For the safety of road users and the workforce temporary traffic signals will be in place to manage traffic during the overnight phase three works. We will require a nightly road closure for the A413 in both directions (travelling towards Chalfont St Giles). A local diversion route will be in place during this time. Notice of work – Ongoing Notification works in Amersham www.hs2.org.uk Advance warning signage of the works will be put out on the road ahead of this phase of traffic management. As soon as our works are completed all traffic management will be removed. Outside of the hours mentioned above all the roads will be open as normal. Access for Emergency services will be maintained at all times. Overnight working hours will start Monday to Friday evening at 9pm and conclude the following morning at 5am. No overnight work will take place on a Saturday or a Sunday night. The workforce will use mobile welfare units with materials and equipment delivered and removed at the start and end of each shift. During this time there will be no pedestrian access over the A413. A pedestrian diversion route will be available across the footbridge. As soon as our works are completed all traffic management will be removed. Outside of the hours mentioned existing pedestrian access across the A413 will be open as normal. What is the impact of the continued closure at Whielden Lane and works at Gore Hill? Whielden Lane will remain closed for through traffic until the end of February 2021 as previously communicated.
