Press Release New Kia Niro Comes Factory-Fitted with Premium Tires from Continental • Continental is supplying the EcoContact 6 Q, PremiumContact 6 and ProContact RX for both the fully electric Kia Niro and the hybrid and plug-in hybrid model variants • In 2021, seven of the ten highest-volume manufacturers of electric vehicles opted to factory-fit Continental tires Hanover, Germany, June 2, 2022. For its new Niro, Kia is once again factory-fitting tires from Continental. The tire manufacturer is supplying its EcoContact 6 Q, PremiumContact 6, and ProContact RX premium tires directly to the factory. In Europe, the Middle East and Africa, the fully electric Niro model variant is being factory-fitted with 17″ EcoContact 6 Q tires. The HEV (hybrid electric vehicle) and PHEV (plug-in hybrid) versions are rolling ex works on 18″ tires from the PremiumContact 6 line. Customers in the USA and Korea can choose the 18″ ProContact RX as all-season tires for their new HEV or PHEV. The EcoContact 6 Q is characterized not only by its outstanding energy efficiency and service life, but also its superior handling and brake performance. The tread profile constantly adapts to the road surface, ensuring a longer tire life. The specially developed rubber compound minimizes friction when the tire is in contact with the road surface, which means that the tire absorbs less energy and, in turn, rolling resistance is reduced. Thanks to modified blocks, sipes and lateral grooves, the EcoContact 6 Q is also noise-optimized. The PremiumContact 6 – winner in the 2022 ADAC summer tire test (size tested: 215/60 R 16 99V) – offers exceptional safety and comfort. The special rubber compound in the tread, which is crucial for the tire’s grip, ensures outstanding safety and wet braking characteristics. The tire design provides high cornering stability and ensures high lateral force transmission. The special design featuring circumferential grooves allows for a rapid response in terms of handling and steering precision on wet and dry roads. The ProContact RX is an all-season touring tire with particular focus on traction and brake performance on both wet and dry roads. The precise steering response enables excellent handling. In many countries of the world, Continental also offers a wide range of additional summer, winter and all-season tires – including test winners such as the AllSeasonContact – for the Kia Niro as part of its tire replacement business.
