Leavers’ Dinner Celebrations Written by Sixth Form student Amy Leavers. It is one of the biggest events of the year – filled with laughter, excitement and celebrating the end of the school year. And what a year it has been! A time for students and staff to put on their best outfits and relax. Traditionally the leavers’ celebration is held off site at a hotel, however due to the ongoing restrictions, Leavers was held on campus this year. It must be said, however, that this did not deter attendees from making the best of the night! The evening kicked off with students getting ready – make up being put on and hairs styled to perfection, it can be said that the students don’t brush up to badly. Photos taken, the evening officially started. First came the meal heartily enjoyed by all; on site caterers Host did such a great job. During the meal, students cast votes for Prom King and Queen so that the nominations could be counted in time for the awards. The LAFTA awards are a set of categories where students are nominated by others; some categories this year include; Most likely to lead a protest, Kindest, Most likely to be a Bond villain and many more. A well done to all who received an award! Dancing followed the awards with music chosen by the students, and what had previously been the dining area was transformed into a dancefloor so students and staff could cut footloose. Drinks flowed and the evening ended at around midnight with students heading back to the houses. There were some very tired students the next day – but worth it for the fun that was had the night before! Good luck to our leaving students. @newcollegeworcester @newcollworc @newcollegeworcs 07387 023516 3

Sixth Form Camp Activity Day enjoyed talking around the fire, and playing on the rope swing, while others chopped up the fire wood they had collected earlier. All enjoyed an afternoon snack of hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows, then went off to explore the nearby area. The day ended with a little debrief and a walk back across the fields to the bus. There was lots of snoring on the journey home from both students and CSVs! It was goodbye Hostel, hello Wimpstone campsite this term for the sixth form. The Activities Team took their first ever group of students to the Wimpstone campsite which Phil, Activities Coordinator, has been developing over the past 7 months. Luckily, they were blessed with glorious sunshine all day! The day involved general camp tasks, all performed by the students themselves. The morning was filled with camp tasks; first was wood collection, followed by fire lighting, lunch preparation, and constructing the dining shelter. Once lunch was cooking, students washed up from the food prep and departed for a walk alongside the meandering River Stour. While walking to the weir, students spotted geese, ducks and met one very friendly dog. Cutting back through the fields on their return to camp, students had a hill race up one of the banks to make sure they had built up their appetites. Unsurprisingly, the sausage casserole was eaten very quickly once they’d returned! The afternoon was more relaxed.
