Beyond the Competition In addition to our National Youth Cyber Defense Competition, CyberPatriot also manages a robust AFA CyberCamp program, an Elementary School Cyber Education Initiative (ESCEI), a Cyber Education Literature Series, Tech Caregiver Program, and CyberGenerations – an initiative for senior citizens. Held during the summer months, AFA CyberCamps emphasize fun, hands-on learning of cybersecurity principles that are relevant and applicable to everyday life. Through camps, organizations deliver AFA-provided curriculum to 6-12 grade students eager to learn the importance of cyber safety and how to protect their personal devices and information from outside threats. Any school, university, or organization is invited to host a camp in their communities. Standard CyberCamps teach beginner students the basics of cybersecurity, while advanced CyberCamps incorporate more complex concepts geared towards students who have previously participated in a camp or the cyber defense competition. The 20-hour curriculum for either camp type is taught over five days, with the fifth day serving as a competition day that simulates the larger National Youth Cyber Defense Competition.
