Buckelew Suicide Prevention Program Survivors Survivors of of Suicide: Suicide: Allies Allies For For Hope Hope 2nd & 4th Wednesday of each month Online 7:00-8:30 pm In this non-clinical peer-to-peer group, we share strategies and skills for coping with the complex issues surrounding the loss of a loved one to suicide as well as the feelings that accompany such a loss. It is our belief that in sharing our stories, we can help to transition to a place of greater understanding and compassion for ourselves, for those with similar experiences, and those we have lost. My Mental Health: Do I Need Help? First, determine how much your symptoms interfere with your daily life. Do I have mild symptoms that have lasted for less than 2 weeks? • Feeling a little down • Some trouble sleeping • Feeling down, but still able to do job, • Feeling down, but still able to take care of schoolwork, or housework yourself or take care of others If so, here are some self-care activities that can help: • Exercising (e.g., aerobics, yoga) • Eating healthy • Engaging in social contact (virtual or in person) • Talking to a trusted friend or family member • Getting adequate sleep on a regular schedule • Practicing meditation, relaxation, and mindfulness If the symptoms above do not improve or seem to be worsening despite self-care efforts, talk to your health care provider.
