What to avoid: You must not use your SIM card to support any connection where the SIM card is fitted into equipment for use with applications that primarily transfer information between fixed systems and remotely located handsets/assets or any other remote computer systems. Customer shall not connect or continue connection by or on behalf of itself or any End User of any GSM Gateway(s) to the Network without ontel’s prior written consent, which may be withheld at ontel’s absolute discretion. What to avoid: You must not establish, install or use a gateway device, application or SIM box (including devices tethered via cable, Bluetooth or Wi-Fi,to a computer or the internet) for the purposes of making large volumes of calls or sending large volumes of texts. Don’t use gateway devices, applications, or SIMboxes to send automated messages or to make automated calls. You must not use our services or SIM cards to generate artificially inflated traffic or to persistently send automated or unsolicited text messages. You must not use our services or a SIM card in such a way that in our reasonable opinion we reasonably believe adversely impacts our or our suppliers’ network or the service(s) to our other customers. What to avoid: Using our services to do anything which slows down the performance of the network or prevents other customers from using the network as intended because of congestion caused by your usage of the services. You must not use our services fraudulently, in connection with a criminal offence, in breach of any law or statutory duty, to make a call or send a message or to take pictures or video or send, upload, download, use or re-use any material, which is offensive, abusive, indecent, defamatory, obscene or menacing, a nuisance (including to our staff) or a hoax in breach of any rights or anyone's privacy or is otherwise unlawful. O2 VODAFONE ANYWHERE SIM FAIR USAGE FAQs Fair Usage Policy Published August 2020 Unlimited Plans on O2 & Vodafone What to avoid: Using our services for the first time outside of the UK or using our services within our Europe Zone for prolonged periods which don't follow reasonable business holiday or travel patterns and behaviour. If you use our services in our Europe Zone for 60 days or more in any four-month period, this is likely to be deemed to be an unfair use of our services and you will be in breach of this Fair Usage Policy. What happens if your usage falls outside this Fair Usage policy? Texts & Minutes are subject to a fair usage policy. The fair usage per SIMon unlimited tariffs is set at 3,000 minutes & 3,000 texts per monthly billing cycle. Any user going over this fair usage policy will receive communication requesting them to moderate their usage. If the usage continues to exceed the fair usage policy terms, ontel reserve the right to charge for this usage or bar the services. • RLAHdata usage is limited to 25GB per calendar month and we will charge for usage over 25GB. • Unlimited tariffs will be monitored for fair usage. 650GB will apply to domestic data traffic. • Customers who regularly exceed 650GB of domestic usage or regularly tether to more than 12devices in-line with the Fair Usage Policy will be investigated and we reserve the right to bar and/or charge for excess usage. This is intended as a guide and doesn’t constitute an exhaustive list of how you could be breaching this Fair Usage Policy. If we reasonably suspect end users of breaching this policy, we reserve the right to impose further charges or disconnect SIM card(s), having attempted to contact you first. ontel | mobile tariff guide | march 2021 Page 29 of 33
O2 VODAFONE ANYWHERE SIM FAIR USAGE FAQs FAQs What is pro rata billing? Your mobile subscriptions are paid for in advance and are based on a set monthly bill date (1stof every month). As such, on a connection’s first invoice, or first invoice after a change in tariff, there will often be some pro rata billing coming into effect. Example first invoice: This is when the additional Line Rental (LR)cost that hadn’t been charged in advance, is added to the first full month’s LR cost. For example, if your monthly LR for a mobile connection, is £10pcm, and your subscription connected on the 16th of September; then your first invoice dated the 1stOctober, will cover all of October’s LR,plus catching up on the unpaid 15days (16th– 30th Sept inc.) prior to the first invoice. This would make the October 1stinvoice LR total for the subscription = £15.00 (£10+ £5). Example first invoice after tariff / bolt-on amendment: This is when the additional Line Rental (LR)cost that hadn’t been charged in advance, is added to the first full month’s LR cost. What is Pro Rata Bundle Allowance? Like pro rata billing, pro rata bundle allowance also occurs in the first month after initial connection and/or during the month of any amendment. Example - International minutes bolt-on applied: When we quote a price for any bolt-on, that package is based on the bolt-on being applied during the whole billing period of any given month. However, if you apply a bolt-on part way through a month you will only receive part of the allowance (asyou will only be billed part of the Line Rental (LR)cost – Please see example - First Invoice after Tariff/Bolt-on Amendment for full cost explanation). First invoice after tariff / bolt-on amend for full cost: If you apply a 100-minute International bolt-on against a subscription on the 16thof September, because your bill date falls on the 1stof the month, you will only receive half of the international allowance (approx. 50 minutes) for the remainder of that month (16th – 30th Sept). This pro rating of Line Rental (LR)and allowances applies to all tariff/bolt-on types apart from one exception: Data Top-Ups: The only exception to the above is when you add a Data Top Up bundle. When you apply a Data Top Up bundle to a number, the full Line Rental (LR)is charged for the month. This is irrespective of the date in the month that the bundle is added. The bundle also gives the number the full allowance of data, again irrespective of the date in the month that the bundle is added. Even if the Top Up bundle is added on the last day of the month, the full LRwill be charged on the following month’s invoice, and the full bundle allowance given. There is no pro-rating. The bundle will apply to data used from the date and time that the bundle is added, to midnight on the last day of the calendar month in which the bundle was added. The billing system will automatically remove the Top Up bundle immediately after the last day of the calendar month. If any Top Up bundle is requested over a weekend/bank holiday, the top up bundle will be backdated on the billing system, to the date that the bundle was requested through the Customer Portal. ontel | mobile tariff guide | march 2021 Page 30 of 33
O2 VODAFONE ANYWHERE SIM FAIR USAGE FAQs FAQs How does alerting work with ontel? All mobile connectionswith ontel are set up with alerting – the default alert settings are: • O2 Total Spend alerts and bar – Resellers - each number is set with a lower alert of £120, an upper alert of £130 and a bar threshold of £130.01. • Vodafone Total Spend Default Alert is one Upper Bar level set at £260. • Data Bundle Default alerts – each number is set at 80% and 100% of their data bundle, these alerts will not bar the numbers once it exceeds its data allowance • ontel Connect (IoT/M2Mconnections) are set up with the requested spend limits, caps, and email addresses taken from the M2M order form. • There is an optional Ofcom Spend Cap that is available to new and resigning customers only. This is voluntary and needs to be requested separately via the Ofcom Spend Cap Authorisation form. • Alerts can be customised in certain ways, though to what extent they can be customised is dependent on the individual network. • Alerting on all networks cannot be guaranteed, therefore can only be used as a guideline to usage – call processing, delays at the network, a data session starting and ending, system failures, can all contribute to delays and issues with alerts – ontel endeavours to send all alerts to users, however alerts are never 100% guaranteed and on rare occasions, some alerts may not be sent. Alerts should not be relied upon as a credit control method. A detailed guide to Alerting is available on request. What is the minimum term for bolt-ons? A recurring bolt-on must be in place for a minimum of 30 days. Data top ups added at weekends will be backdated to the date of request. Tariff changes: Please be aware any bolt-on you had in place will be removed when you complete a tariff change. This is because bolt-ons are added-services on top of a core tariff. If the core is changed, then it automatically takes off the added extras, too. Please ensure you check for any required bolt-on as you will need to add them back on again . It is not possible for ontel to assume they need to remain in place. What out of hours support does ontel offer? • O2 – Self-Service barring/unbarring and SIM swaps for o2 connections if this level of service is requested and authorised. • Vodafone – Stolen bar only.
