A Message from the Race Director We would like to welcome you to the Eighth Annual Mighty Moraine Man Multi-Sport Race. It’s been a crazy year for all of us and trying to organize a race during these trying times is not easy. This year, we will host four different days of racing. • August 9 we will hold a Youth 19 and under event for our younger athletes to shine. • September 11 will be our Super Sprint and Youth Races • September 12 and 13 will each be sprint triathlons We are working closely with USA Triathlon to bring the safest event to all of you. You will notice a lot of changes and you can review our COVID safety measurements in this document. The local business community of Butler County welcomes the Mighty Moraine Man athletes with open arms. We especially thank Moraine State Park and Butler County Tourism & Convention Bureau for their support of this event. We thank you for supporting our race this year. My vision was to start a quality race in western Pennsylvania. We will do that again this year. With that being said, safety is paramount. There is not a race out there that is worth someone’s life. Therefore, we continue to make changes to the courses to provide the safest routes possible. In addition, we ask all athletes • To be aware of traffic on the roads • To keep your head up and look where you are going • To take your time on all the turns and at every intersection These simple things can save lives, including your own. Please be smart and responsible at all times. We want you to have a memorable event of you crossing the finish line. It is critical that you listen to all volunteers throughout the race. We also ask that you practice social distancing at the race and you wear a mask when you are not racing. We wish you a fun and a successful race that tests your limits and creates memories that last a lifetime. Joella Baker USAT Level II Certified Race Director 5 MMM Athlete Guide 2020

Schedule and Course Maps Since we are accepting registrations through race week, there may be small changes to the waves. Final wave assignments will be posted race week. This will ensure everyone’s safety out on the course and provide the best possible start times for all who are racing. Swim Information and Course Map All swim courses will be clockwise loops in Lake Arthur. It is well-marked by bright buoys that represent your swim distance. The swim course ending, leading up to the Transition area is marked by buoys and cones. You must keep all buoys on your right. The swim will be an “in water” start. There will be kayak support and life guards to assist during the swim. If, during the swim, you are unable to continue, you may swim to shore or remove your swim cap and wave it in the air to be picked up by a kayak. Remember, wet suits do aid in floating. Stay calm and float on your back until a kayak arrives. We also plan to have a Pontoon boat and scuba divers. Be sure to notify a race official at the Swim Finish Area and surrender your timing chip, if you drop out of the swim, you cannot continue with the bike or run segments due to medical concerns and USAT rules. Water Quality The Mighty Moraine Man staff takes water quality seriously. Water testing is conducted weekly at Moraine State Park and if the water tests show any risk to athletes, the swim will be canceled according to USAT rules. This is strictly to provide safety for the athletes. Bike In & Out Transition Run Out Swim IN Sprint 400 meters 22

CocoaElite.com COCOA ELITE IS INTRODUCING HIGH-QUALITY COCOA FLAVANOL PRODUCTS TO THE MARKET Fitness and a healthy lifestyle are a big part of our lives but cycling tops the list. We experimented with many different endurance, strength and recovery products but we were never fully satisfied. We simply couldn’t find a great tasting, high quality product. We found most products on the market had additives, preservatives and just didn’t taste great. They also had a gritty texture and significant aftertaste. Our quest to find a great tasting, healthy alternative led us to create Cocoa Elite. We thought about what tastes great, and quickly determined we would start with something that we love, chocolate. Who doesn’t love chocolate? Our search for a chocolate based product helped us to gain a deeper knowledge of cocoa. On our journey we learned that not all chocolate is produced the same way. Our research into the cocoa plant led us to become obsessed with the cocoa flavanol component of the cocoa bean. Cocoa flavanols are what make chocolate so unique and healthy. Not only is it tasty but cocoa is really good for you. We hope you find our products as great tasting and good for you as we do. Use the code “GetFit” and try Cocoa Elite Today! 30
