AUGUST 2020 ILLUMINATOR MID-YEAR BOARD MEETING THE 2020 MID-YEAR BOARD MEETING WAS HELD AS A VIRTUAL EVENT ON AUGUST 21, 2020. Instead of our Headlite Juan Trillas and his wife Stephanie welcoming everyone to the historic and beautiful Wine and Roses Hotel & Spa in Lodi, California – ‘The Zinfandel Capital of the World’, we were welcomed to a Mircosoft Teams Meeting. Our esteemed Headlite, Juan Trillas did an excellent job in pivoting from a resort location to wherever we were virtually attending and made everyone feel welcomed, included, and safe. Congratulations to first year Hilites: • Monica Abarca – Post Consumer Brands • Anu Algin – Manzana Products • Karl Konrad – The Impact Group • Kristina McVay – Kind Snacks • Dan Sawchuk – Chobani Per Illuminator tradition, the new Hilites were unable to receive their Barlite assignments and new aprons. We look forward to them being able to serve refreshments to their fellow Illuminator members at an event in the future and I’m sure everyone will be quite thirsty by then! The Friday afternoon Virtual Board Meeting lasted approximately 2 hours where we discussed our Finances, Committees, Membership, Diversity & Inclusion Events, Social/Digital efforts, our Website, and the changes to this years’ CGA. We also received a refresher course on our organizational structure from our Historian and updates from the Illuminator Education Foundation. Carole Christianson then shared an insightful update on this years’ and the next WAFC conventions. The meeting ended with an excellent discussion on incremental fund-raising ideas in these challenging times. Let us keep this conversation going and execute like Illuminators! The photos in this section are from previous Illuminator attended events and feature our 5 new wonderful Hilites, as well as a photo of the beautiful Wine and Roses Hotel. WE LOOK FORWARD TO MEETING AND CELEBRATING IN PERSON FOR THE 2021 MID YEAR EVENT. STAY SAFE! 9 ILLUMINATORS

DIVERSITY & INCLUSION FALL 2019 DIVERSITY & INCLUSION The Illuminators continued their series of Diversity & Inclusion events, this time at the fun and lively urban community space called JUMP in Boise, Idaho on October 22, 2019. This was the first ever Illuminator event to be held in Boise which was a success with over 100 guests in attendance to experience the educational luncheon about how to create an environment that values and understands generational differences. As the Illuminators expand our membership and scope, it is important to add new markets for events. With the Headquarters of both Albertson’s Companies and WinCo, the Boise market is a key Western market for Illuminator activity. Our event moderator and keynote speaker was Dr. Chip Espinoza an author, speaker and educator. Our guest panelists were: Kristie Ferriell-Beck, Vice President, Human Resources, Idahoan Foods; Jonathan Mayes, Senior Vice President of External Affairs and Chief Diversity Officer, Albertson’s Companies; Bobbye Sweat, Diversity & Inclusion Integration Director, Hallmark and Teresa Whitney, Vice President of Marketing & Merchandising, Albertson’s Companies. Dr. Chip kicked off the event by discussing the generational challenges that exist in the workplace. He then moderated a discussion that focused on the value of having several different generations represented in a workplace. The panel stressed the importance in respecting the diverse work habits, needs and experiences within each generation. We would like to thank our sponsors for the event: Coca-Cola, Idahoan Foods, Smucker’s and the WAFC. The next event is being planned for January 2021 as a virtual conference. The title is Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging. This conference will focus on the topics of Unconscious Bias, Micro- Aggression and becoming an Allie of Change. We are targeting April 2021 as our next in-person event with details to follow. 25 ILLUMINATORS
