Amara Regehr, Civil Engineering, class of 2021
Amara spent two summers travelling North
America, measuring CO2 emissions from
abandoned oil and gas wells. Working with Prof.
Mary Kang, as part of the Summer Undergraduate
Research in Engineering (SURE) program, Amara
learned how to use a complicated modelling
software, and co-authored a paper in an influential
academic journal. This hands-on experience helped
her stand out. Amara landed an internship with
engineering firm CDM Smith in her final year, and
was offered a job in Boston after graduating.

Aiman Hadif, Cognitive Science, class of 2021
At McGill’s Raz Lab, Aiman worked closely with people
suffering from a range of psychological issues and traumas,
from post-traumatic stress disorder to major depression.
His most important mentor was his Principal Investigator,
Dr. Michael Liftschitz. “The biggest thing he taught me,
alongside coding, running participants and analyzing data,
was to never give up—in research and in life.”
