When considering which projects we undertake,
our corporate trustee board and, particularly, the
members of the Charitable Fund Management
Committee have referred to the Charity
Commission’s general guidance on public
benefit and ensure that the projects are in line
with our charitable aims and objectives.
In 2019/20 the charity’s public benefit can be noted
through the funding of £1.3m on additional items of
equipment purchased for Trust wards and departments,
funding external educational courses and seminars to
keep healthcare professionals up to date with the latest
techniques, assisting with fundraising projects relating
to health and welfare of the general public and providing
staff with amenities such as staff room provisions, staff
recognition awards which promotes staff motivation,
encourages a better working environment and improves
staff morale.

At the start of the Covid-19 outbreak, North West
London was the hardest hit. Northwick Park During COVID-19

                   in the country.
LNWH Charity stepped up to support our NHS Trust. In
2019/20, LNWH Charity worked hand-in-hand with LNWUH
NHS Trust on its Covid-19 response. As we plan forward, we
remain committed to supporting Trust staff and patients,

                         NHS staff, so they
                         could outshine the
                         pandemic
We arranged for delivery of goods
                         across Northwick Park, St Mark’s,
                         Ealing and Central Middlesex hospital

system for the delivery of goods.
When our staff struggled to get snacks
and meals during their long shifts, we
organised pop-up shops twice a week
                         at Northwick Park, Central Middlesex
                         and Ealing hospitals. Wards and
services picked up the donated goods
at pre-assigned timeslots and our staff
continued to face the challenge at hand.
                         We facilitated individuals and local
                         businesses to come together and
                         donate refreshments such as
coffee, tea, biscuits, nuts, crisps and
                         chocolates. We also shared care
                         packages with the teams including
                         hand creams, facial creams, hand
                         wash, shower gels, socks, sleeping
                         masks, blankets and pillows, all
aimed at making the lives of our
                         staff more comfortable as they
                         fought the pandemic.

We supported by providing food, drinks,

Curated temporary

We were also glad to
provide a temporary staff well-being
space such as the Medawar Room at
Northwick Park. This area allowed staff
to relax during their breaks and are
packed with comfortable sofas, bean

phone chargers and an array of treats
to help re-energise staff on their breaks.

Overall, the small charity team came
together to empower LNWUH NHS Trust
in an exceptional way.

Changes in the London North West University Healthcare Trust often influence
the direction which LNWH Charitable Fund takes with regards to funding.
When any changes take place, such as efficiency reviews and major capital projects, the Charity
adopts a sensible approach when committing it's reserves to certain projects.
The level of charity activity is also dependent on donors’ generosity.
London North West University Healthcare Trust Board approved the appointment of a Charity
Director to build the fundraising and grant-making capacity of LNWH charity. They are expected to
be in post in financial year 2020/21 and part of their remit will be to implement London North West
Healthcare Charitable Fund's business plan to help the Charity to achieve its aims including:

Raising awareness about the charity' is crucial
to fundraising and the charity plans to manage
this by reaching out and building relationships
with the communities the Trust serves, including
local schools, religion institutions, Trusts
and Foundations, businesses and the local
population.
A key aim is to ensure staff, patients and donors are aware of
London North West Healthcare Charitable Fund’s ambitions.
LNWH Charity's Covid -19 staff welfare appeal which begun
in March 2020 has placed a particular emphasis on this
and has placed LNWH Charity and London North West
University Healthcare NHS Trust in the unique position of
having accumulated an immense amount of support.
In the near future, LNWH Charity plans to develop a new
grant giving and expenditure programme to promote the
grant giving process and support staff to apply for grants.
LNWH Charity will also continue to engage, acquire
and retain donors by driving holistic communications
campaigns through our digital platforms.

involves a “community of practice” aimed at reducing
fragmentation of care for those living with frailty.
                   Stage 1: COVID-19 Urgent
Response Grants Stage 3: COVID-19 Recovery

Grants were created so that NHS Charities could spend
them quickly, with the aim of enhancing the well-being LNWH Charity is eligible to apply for funding for projects

LNWH Charity received a lump sum of £94,500, which,
amongst others, was used to provide online workshops for
NHS Leadership Support Service (for Nightingale Frontline),
death in service benefits for families of staff who passed
away from COVID-19, and wellbeing space for our staff.
An open funding application was also available, which
we used to apply on behalf of the Link Well project: a
two-phase project involving a study, and subsequently
launching, a translation software for our non-English
speaking BAME patients. Our application was successful
and the project was awarded £50,000.

                   Stage 2: Strategic Integrated
                   Community & Social Care
                   Pathways Grants
This was developed to encourage NHS Charities to
collaborate with their voluntary, care and hospice sectors.
Projects must enable patients to leave hospitals more
quickly and safely, stay or remain out of hospitals, which
will significantly help reduce stress on the NHS.
