“Beyond the Horizon” Lions Roar The official newsletter of Lions of Virginia District 24-I Vol. 1, No. 5 January 2019 Connecting the clubs, communities & needs for the Lions of Central and Southeastern Virginia. We Serve! Pin Traders Club announces Scholarship Lions International Pin Traders provide more for Lions than a vestful of Lions bling. Their products are a virtual time capsule of pivotal event in the life of the organization. The club’s activities are not limited to displays at Lions events and frenzied trading among Lions to acquire a treasured representative of a once-in-a-lifetime event. The Lions International Pin Trading Club is proud to announce a Youth Scholarship of US$2,500 for a grad- uating senior who is the child or grandchild of a Lions, Lioness and/or a member of a Leo Club. The most important aspect of the Youth Scholarship Program is to help a young person pursue his/her educa- tion and follow their dreams. The LITPC takes great pride in fulfilling the motto of Lions Clubs International, “WE SERVE”. During the SightFirst II Campaign, the pin traders contributed US$144,000 to LCIF. Our Scholarship Program is another example of the pin traders’ slogan, “Lions First”. Selection of the scholarship recipient will be based on academic achievement, an essay stating the student’s goals, a statement of reason(s) for applying and an overview of work, community and school service, and letters of recommendation. Applications and supporting documentation information is located on the District 24I website at www.lionsdistrict24i.org. All graduating seniors who are the children/grandchildren of Lions or Lioness members or who are members of Leo Clubs are encouraged to apply. To learn more, visit http://www.litpc.org/PinTradingClubsPins.html.
