MESSAGE FROM THE PROFESSOR IN-CHARGE Law Centre-II is a premier institution and is known for its qualitative teaching, research and other co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. It is one of the best institutions in the country which imparts three year LL.B. program. To promote student activities at the Centre, a number of committees have been constituted. These committees include Moot Court Committee, Debate Committee, Seminars and Conferences Committee, Journal Committee, Legal Aid Committee, Placement Committee and Alumni Committee. There is an active participation of students in these committees. The teacher members and student volunteers organize several activities on a regular basis throughout the year. The S.K. Puri Memorial Moot Court Competition of Law Centre-II “JUSTIFIED” is an annual activity of Law Centre-II. In addition to this, Law Centre-II has conducted Delhi NCR Moot Court Competition this year under the name of LC- II B. R. Trikha Memorial Moot Court Competition. The Seminars and Lectures Committee apart from organizing seminars, conferences and workshops, organizes lectures of legal scholars from all over India and abroad. The Legal Aid Committee organizes legal aid camps and helps a substantial number of students to work as Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs). The Internship and Placement Committee is responsible for the internship of students and placement of final year students. The Law Centre-II has a glorious past of 47 years and has the privilege of having alumni from all walks of life. The alumni included Governor, Judge of Supreme Court, Chief Justice and Judges of various High Courts, Central Minister, State Minister, Senior Bureaucrats, Police Officers, Revenue Officers, Doctors, Engineers, Chartered Accountants, Company Secretaries, Politicians, etc. The Alumni of Law Centre-II provide all possible assistance to the Centre including internships and placements to our students. We look forward to strengthen this association and increase the involvement of the students, faculty, staff and the alumni to develop Law Centre-II as a Centre of Excellence. It would be my endeavor to take this centre to newer heights so that the students choosing Law Centre-II get an intellectually stimulated environment and are able to shape their legal career ahead. ADMISSIONS The admission to LL.B. Program at Law Centre-II shall be on the basis of the entrance test conducted by the University of Delhi. The library has a large number of collection of Indian and foreign books. It subscribes to various journals and periodicals. Apart from print journals, the students can have access to large number of databases on the University Library website. The library also takes care of the needs of visually impaired students and provides them the facilities of recorders and other devices with the assistance of University. Apart from the Centre's library, the students can have access to the Faculty of Law library which is one of the best and the biggest libraries of law in the country. It has over one lakh fifty thousand books and a large number of law reports and journals. The library caters to the needs of students and researchers engaged in legal studies and intensive research. The library has a dedicated E-Resource Centre with computers for accessing a large number of electronic databases of journals and reference sources subscribed by it. The databases include eJurix, Legal Pundits, LexisNexis, Manupatra, SCCOnline, Westlaw, CLA, etc. HOSTEL ACCOMMODATION There are eighteen hostels for male and female students pursuing full-time post-graduate and research programmes in the University. Students are entitled to the allocated number of seats in the University hostels for Post-Graduate Students of Delhi University on the basis of merit and as per the rules and procedure prescribed from time to time by the University and the hostel authorities. COMMITTEES TO LOOK INTO GRIEVANCES OF STUDENTS Various committees have been constituted at Law Centre-II to look into the grievances of students. Some of them are Anti-Ragging Committee, Grievance Committee, Committee to look into the Grievances of People Belonging to SC/ST and OBC, Committee to look into the Grievances of People Belonging to North-eastern States, Gender Sensitization Committee, Equal Opportunity Committee and Anti-Smoking Committee. WHY TO STUDY AT LAW CENTRE-II Law Centre-II is one of the best law schools of the country imparting legal education in three year LL.B. mode. The Centre has been developed by top professors of law in the country, such as Professor Upender Baxi, Professor Tahir Mahmood, Professor A. K. Koul, Professor S.N. Singh, Professor Gurdip Singh, Professor Poonam Saxena, Professor B.T. Kaul to name a few. Many of the Faculty Members at the Centre have international exposure. Law Centre- II, is an institution which was established 48 years back to provide legal education to meritorious candidates from all parts of the country at a very subsidized rate. The total fee of the LL.B. course at the Centre for three years is around Rs.15,000/-, which is just a small fraction of the fee charged by National Law Schools and private law schools throughout the country. The alumni of the Centre include Governor, Supreme Court Judge, Cabinet Ministers, State Ministers, Chief Justice and other High Court Judges, top bureaucrats of the country, military officers, top most police officers, senior officers of PSUs and private companies, university Professors from several departments and others. The Centre is known for the activities conducted by it and the research done by the faculty members. The Centre publishes two journals and gives a platform to teachers, students and outside experts to publish their qualitative works. The Centre has its flagship Moot Court Competition S.K. Puri Memorial Moot Court Competition “JUSTIFIED” which is conducted every year on a regular basis. The students from all parts of the country participate in the competition. This year JUSTIFIED will be conducted at international level. Apart from that, the students of Law Centre-II win many Moot Court Competitions organized by various law schools in the country. In addition to this, Law Centre-II has also conducted Delhi NCR Moot Court Competition under the name of LC-II B. R. Trikha Memorial Moot Court Competition. Seminar and Lectures Committee organizes various programmes throughout the semesters. The Internship and Placement Committee of Law Centre-II is very active and assist students to get internships and placement. It is working very well and students are getting employment with good packages in corporate, NGOs and Law firms. Law Centre-II is the best place for the academic and overall development of students. The Centre is known for its peaceful environment and adopts zero tolerance policy for ragging, which is a punishable offence. The Centre has an Anti-Ragging Committee and Anti- Ragging Squad to ensure that there is no incidence of ragging and the students study without any fear from anyone. It is a tobacco free zone. The Centre performs curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities through various committees. The Committees work with the help of student conveners and volunteers. The Centre inculcates values in the students to make them sensitive towards the society and encourages them to work for the needy and downtrodden by organizing blood donation camps and organizing various legal aid programs. 12 | P a g e

STUDENTS’ ACHIEVEMENTS GOLD MEDAL Ms. Prerna Singh of the 2014-2017 batch of Law Centre-II secured the highest percentage of marks among the successful candidates at the LL.B. and was awarded the Hira Lal Daga Memorial Medal. She was also awarded University Law Union Prize for securing the highest percentage of marks in the LL.B. examination. She received the Gold Medal and the Prize at the 95th Annual Convocation of University of Delhi on November 19, 2018. 8TH ILNU MOOT COURT COMPETITION Team comprising of Ms. Ananya Mahant, Ms Arshita Bansal and Ms. Reyna Shruti participated in 8th ILNU National Moot Court Competition, 2018 organized by Nirma University, Ahmedabad on August 31 to September 2, 2018. Ms. Arshita Bansal was adjudged as the Best Researcher and the team bagged 3rd position. 14 | P a g e
7TH AMITY QUIZ ON CONSTITUTIONAL LAW 2018 Ms. Shivika Bagga participated in 7th Amity Quiz on Constitutional Law 2018 by Amity Law School NOIDA on October 4, 2018. She bagged the Runner-Up position. 1st NATIONAL ONLINE MEMORIAL WRITING COMPETITION Ms. Sasmitha K. of 1st year won the first prize in 1st National Online Memorial Writing Competition organized by Saveetha School of Law, Chennai. She also received a cash prize of Rs. 3000. QUIZ ON INDIAN CONSTITUTIONAL LAW Quiz on Indian Constitutional Law was conducted in memory of Nani Palkhivala - his birth centenary celebrations, by Lex Consilium foundation on 3rd February 2019 at Taj Vivanta Connaught Place. Mr. Nishant Khidtta and Mr. Ajay Joshi bagged the third position and a cash prize of Rs. 50000. RAPPORTEURS FOR NATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION OF INDIA The National Human Rights Commission of India organized a series of events to commemorate its 25th anniversary. The celebrations commenced with a Media Dialogue at IIMC, New Delhi on September 5, 2018, which was followed by Silver Jubilee Lecture by Shri Kailash Satyarthi, Nobel Laureate at Teen Murti Bhawan, New Delhi on September 10, 2018. The International Human Rights Conclave and the Prime Ministerial Address were subsequently held on October 1 and 15 | P a g e
October 12, 2018 respectively. The events were attended by members of National Commissions, International Institutions such as United Nations, Diplomatic Corps, Civil Society, NGOs, Cabinet Ministers, Chief Justices, Media and others. As a matter of great honour, Mr. Himanshu Kala, Ms. Sherin Jose, Ms Pratibha Sharma and Ms. Aishwarya Gupta from Law Centre-II were appointed as Special Rapporteurs for the National Human Rights Commission of India for these events. They were felicitated by the Commission for their active participation and contributions. SCHOLARSHIP As a matter of great pride, Ms. Aishwarya Gupta from Law Centre-II has been selected as a Schwarzman Scholar, one of the world’s most prestigious graduate fellowships, located at Schwarzman College at Tsinghua University in Beijing which recently announced its fourth class. She is amongst the first women from India and also the first student from the Faculty of Law to be awarded this honour. 16 | P a g e
PUBLICATIONS Law Centre-II has been publishing a journal titled National Capital Law Journal since 1996. The Journal contains articles from eminent academicians and researchers. The Journal is known for its quality throughout the country. It carries ISSN. In addition, the Centre publishes its e-journal titled as Delhi Journal of Contemporary Law which contains short articles, comments, opinions, interviews, etc. on the contemporary matters. The Centre also publishes Gatividhyian twice a year. It provides information with respect to activities taken place during semesters. 17 | P a g e
PLACEMENT AND INTERNSHIP CELL Law Centre-II has its own Placement Cell. The Alumni of Law Centre-II are assisting the Placement and Internship Cell to provide avenues to the students. With the unflinching efforts made by the Convener and members of the Placement and Internship Cell and the core group of students, the Placement and Internship Cell got new dimension. The Cell is giving utmost importance to the personality development of the students right from the first year of LL.B. course to make them acquire quality legal skills and the ability to face challenges in the legal disciplines. This is helping the students to exhibit their best in writing their competitive examinations, group discussion (GD), personal interviews, etc. The students of the Centre take part in the placement activities enthusiastically. In addition to mandatory internship, the Placement Cell also helps the students to get internship during vacations at various Commissions, Courts, Law Firms, Public Sector Undertakings and Corporate Firms. The students of Law Centre- II have recently been placed at KPMG, ACM Legal, R.R. and Associates, DMIC, and VFN Associates. ACTIVITIES AT LAW CENTRE-II (2018-2019) ORIENTATION PROGRAM 2018-19 The Orientation Programme for the LL.B. First Year Batch 2018-19 was conducted on September 1, 2018 at the Conference Centre, University of Delhi. Hon'ble Justice Mukta Gupta, Judge, Delhi High Court was the Chief Guest. Guests of Honour were Shri Suresh Chandra, Union Law Secretary, Government of India, Prof. Manoj Kumar Sinha, Director, Indian Law Institute and Prof. B. T. Kaul, Former Chairperson, Delhi Judicial Academy. Prof. O. B. Lal, Officiating Dean, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi delivered the welcome address. The Presidential Address was given by Dr. V. K. Ahuja, In-charge, Law Centre-II and Dr. Rajni Abbi proposed the Vote of Thanks. The inaugural session was followed by another session to give the newly inducted students an overview of the various committees functioning at Law Centre-II. Shri Rakesh Khanna, Senior Advocate interacted with the students on Mooting Skills. Ms.GeetanjaliGoel, Additional District and Sessions Judge, Special Secretary, DSLSA interacted with the students on Legal Aid. The students were also informed on Gender Sensitization by Dr. K. MOOT COURT LAW CENTRE-II B. R. TRIKHA MEMORIAL MOOT COURT COMPETITION 2019 Law Centre-II B. R. Trikha Memorial Delhi NCR Moot Court Competition 2019 was held on 30th March, 2019 at Umang Bhawan, Chhatra Marg, University of Delhi. The theme of the Competition pertained to women’s rights. The Moot proposition was formulated to provide a platform to analyse and examine the important socio-legal issue of female genital mutilation. Eighteen teams from the most prestigious law colleges/institutes located in Delhi-NCR region participated in the competition. The competition consisted of a Preliminary Round, Quarter Final Round, Semi-Final Round and the Final Round. Each of the aforesaid rounds was knockout round, for the purpose of qualification to the next round. The final round was judged by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Bhanwar Singh, former Judge, Allahabad High Court and Shri Rakesh Kumar Khanna, Senior Advocate (President of Supreme Court Bar Association). The team from Jamia Milia Islamia University was declared the Winner and the team from Symbiosis Law School, Noida was Runners-up. The Prize for Best Speaker (Female) was won by Ms. Noorie Rehman of Jamia Milia Islamia University. The Best Speaker (Male) went to Aaditya from NLU Delhi, and the Best Memorial award went to Gitarattan International School. 21 | P a g e
SEMINARS AND CONFERENCES INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON MEDIATION International Conference on Mediation was organized by Law Centre-II, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi in collaboration with MCPC, Supreme Court of India on April 6-7, 2019. The day one of the two-day conference commenced with an inaugural session where the Chief Guest, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul, Judge, Supreme Court of India and Guest of Honour, Hon’ble Ms. Justice Geeta Mittal, Chief Justice, Jammu and Kashmir High Court graced the gathering with their presence. The other well-regarded members on the dais for the inaugural session included Professor Ved Kumari, Dean, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi who delivered the Presidential Address; Dr.V. K. Ahuja, In-Charge, Law Centre-II, University 22 | P a g e
of Delhi who delivered Welcome Address; and Mr. Dharmendra Rana, Member Secretary, MCPC, Supreme Court of India who also addressed the audience. Dr. Ashutosh Mishra, Conference Director proposed vote of thanks. The esteemed guests lit the ceremonial lamp and brought about an auspicious start to the grand conference. The inaugural session was followed by six technical sessions spread over two days. The monumental conference was concluded by a valedictory address by Hon’ble Ms. Justice Indu Malhotra, Judge, Supreme Court of India, as Chief Guest who delivered the Valedictory Address, in which she lauded the success of the conference in which many judges, mediators, teachers and students participated. Justice Malhotra also recounted the relevance of mediation as an efficacious and pertinent mechanism of dispute resolution in the country. The valedictory session was presided by Prof.Ved Kumari, Dean and Head, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi. Dr. V.K. Ahuja, In-charge, Law Centre-II, Mr. Dharmendra Rana, Member Secretary, MCPC, Supreme Court of India, and Conference Director Dr.Ashutosh Mishra were also present. The Conference ended on a promise for a better future. CONFERENCE ON NEED OF POLICE REFORMS AND ROLE OF NHRC Law Centre-II, in collaboration with Justice for Rights Foundation organized a Conference on Need for Police Reforms and Role of NHRC on August 24, 2018. The Conference was organized under the guidance of Justice Permod Kohli, Former Chief Justice, Sikkim High Court and Former Chairman, Central Administrative Tribunal. The Guest Speakers for the Conference were Shri P. K. Mishra, Former Director General, Border Security Force and Shri M. L. Sharma, Former Special Director, Central Bureau of Investigation and Former Central Information Commissioner. Advocate Sh. SEMINAR ON SECTION 377 AND THE ROADMAP AHEAD Law Centre-II organized a Seminar on Section 377 of Indian Penal Code and the Roadmap Ahead on September 19, 2018 in collaboration with Reaching the Real India. The Seminar was organized post the landmark judgment of the Supreme Court of India in Navtej Singh Jauhar& Others v. Union of India, which declared Section 377, Indian Penal Code unconstitutional in so far as it criminalizes consensual sexual conduct between adults of the same sex, thereby upholding the rights of the LGBTQI+ community. The Resource Persons of the Seminar represented the cross sections of the society which included Mr. Danish Sheikh, Assistant Professor and Associate Director of Centre for Health, Law Ethics and Technology at Jindal Global Law School and also a lawyer, Ms. Grace Banu, India’s first Transgender Engineer and Activist, Dr. Karthik Bittu, Associate Professor of Biology and Psychology, Ashoka University and Trans-activist, Mr. Suraj Sanap, Law Officer at Lawyers Collective which was at the forefront of the battle against Section 377 and also worked at the Humsafar Trust, providing legal representation to members of LGBTQI+ community and Ms. Rituparna Borah, Queer Feminist Activist and Member of ‘Nazariya’, a Queer Feminist Resource Group. The broad topics of the Seminar were: Section 377: Unlearning our Prejudices;LGBTAI+ Community: The Unconvicted Felons;The Human Cost of Section 377; and Law v. NATIONAL SEMINAR ON PRACTICAL APPROACH TO COMPETITION LAW AND INSOLVENCY AND BANKRUPTCY CODE A National Seminar on Practical Approach to Competition Law and Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code was organized by the Placement and Internship Committee on February 26, 2019. Shri Vinay Kumar Sanduja, Registrar, Indian Council of Arbitration, Shri Manas Kumar Chaudhuri, Partner, Khaitan and Co. Shri Munish K. Sharma, Practising Company Secretary and Insolvency Professional were the Resource Persons for the Seminar. INTER CENTRE YOUTH CONCLAVE A Youth Conclave as a concept is a simulation of a Model United Nations (MUN) and a Youth Parliament. The committees that can be included in a Youth Conclave include issues that are raised in Youth Parliaments, Model United Nations, Crisis Committees, and Citizenship Dialogue etc. The purpose behind organizing a Youth Conclave is to spread awareness amongst the youth, and especially among law students regarding the social and legal issues that the nation stands to face today. The inaugural edition of the Inter Centre Youth Conclave was organized in Law Centre-II on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 in the Moot Court Hall of the college premises. There were two Committees in the Conclave, one of them being a Legal Committee and the other being the All India Political Parties’ Meet (AIPPM). The agenda of the Legal Committee was “Judicial Reforms in India (Special Emphasis on The Proposal of All India Judicial Services” and the agenda put for the AIPPM was “Upper Caste Reservation Bill/Act (124th Constitutional (Amendment) Bill/Act, 2019)”. The event ended with the winners and participants getting trophies and certificates respectively. It was followed by a Vote of Thanks given by the organizers. 27 | P a g e
UDGHOSH - THE YOUTH PARLIAMENT Udghosh-The Youth Parliament was the maiden youth parliament organized under the flagship of LC- II, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi from 8th to 9th March 2019. Before the final event culminated, several informative sessions such as an orientation program and a speaker session on 'One Nation One Election' and 'Data Protection Bill' were organised for the students to gain an insight on the working of a Youth Parliament as well as the theme of Udghosh. Dr. Vinod Zutshi, former IAS officer and former Deputy Election Commissioner, and Dr. Kanika Seth, cyber law expert and founding partner of Seth Associates, were invited for the informative speaker session held on 5th February 2019, for their noteworthy work in their respective fields which were also the subject matter of the committees under Udghosh, with Lok Sabha having 'One Nation One Election' and Rajya Sabha having the 'Data Protection Bill.' Franklin D Roosevelt rightly said: “We cannot always build the future for our youth, but we can build our youth for the future.” A Youth Parliament, in simplest terms, is a simulation of the actual Parliament. It has a huge significance in not just making students understand the parliamentary procedure but in developing an insight to consider public issues while forming an opinion and nurture a tolerance for the views of others. 28 | P a g e

TALK ON INTERNATION WOMEN’S DAY A Talk on International Women’s Day was organized by the Gender Sensitization Committee. Prof. (Dr.) Ved P. Nanda, Padma Bhushan awardee from University of Denver and Honorary Professor, University of Delhi shared his views with the audience on March 8, 2019 which is also celebrated as International Women’s Day. INAUGRAL OF FESTSCHRIFT Prof. V. K. Ahuja, Professor In-charge, Law Centre-II edited a Festschrift in the honour of Professor Upendra Baxi, a great jurist, on the theme "Human Rights: Contemporary Issues". The Festschrfit has papers on diverse themes of Human Rights. The Festschrift was released on 26 April, 2019 by Law Centre-II and Eastern Book Company. Hon'ble Justice Sikri, Former Judge, Supreme Court of India, Professor Yogesh Tyagi, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of University of Delhi, Professor Upendra Baxi, Professor Emeritus, University of Delhi and Professor Ved Kumari, Dean and Head, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi graced the occasion. Professor Baxi delivered a speech on Constitutional Morality. FAREWELL OF PROF. O.B. LAL Prof. O. B. Lal retired from Law Centre-II on April 30, 2019 after a glorious service of 40 years. COMPETITIONS The debate competition was organized by NSS, Law Center-II on April 16, 2019 on the topic of Relevance of Students Politics in which Students from all the three Centres of Faculty of Law i.e. CLC, LC-I, LC-II participated. Each participant got 3 minutes to represent their views on the topic. The event was judged by the faculty members of Law Center-II, Dr. Nitesh Saraswat, and Dr. Bhupesh Rathore. The event concluded with the announcement of three winners namely Mr. Pankaj, Mr. Alok Raj and Mr. Abhijeet. They all were rewarded with certificates of appreciation. SECOND LECTURE SERIES ‘SAMVAD’ The Lecture Series ‘Samvad’ was started in the Law Centre-II under the aegis of Dr. V. K. Ahuja, In-Charge, in the beginning of the academic session 2017-2018. It was taken forward in this new academic session and various lectures were delivered in this series. The First Lecture in this series was delivered by Dr. Aniruddha Rajput, Member, International Law Commission of the United Nations on October 4, 2018. He interacted with the students and faculties on the Role of International Law Commission in the Codification and Progressive Development of International Law. Shri GovindGaiha, Senior Advisor, Telecom Regulatory and Former Member, TDSAT and Shri Ilam Chand Kamboj, Registered Insolvency Professional and Former Associate Vice-President, Legal and CS at Hero Motor Corp Ltd. interacted with the students on the theme of Corporate Governance and Corporate Social Responsibility: Emerging Perspectives, Challenge and Opportunities on November 15, 2018. OUTREACH ACTIVITIES AND FIELD VISITS KERALA DONATION DRIVE The State of Kerala was affected by severe floods in the month of August, 2018 due to unusual high rainfall. Law Centre-II in order to lend a supporting hand to the people of Kerala organized a donation drive. The students and teachers at Law Centre-II participated enthusiastically in the drive and collected materials to help the people in need. The materials so collected at the Centre level were sent to Kerala through an NGO on August 28, 2018. BLOOD DONATION CAMP The Centre organized a Blood Donation Camp on NSS Day on September 24, 2018. The camp was organized in collaboration with Ram Manohar Lohiya Hospital and Blood Connect Foundation (NGO), New Delhi. Orientation of this event was organized at Moot Court Hall, Umang Bhawan. Students, volunteers and participants attended the program with great zeal. NSS Committee Members Dr. Nitesh Saraswat (Convenor), Ms. Sumiti Ahuja, Ms. Swati Solanki, and Dr. Ashutosh Srivastava conveyed their valuable thoughts on the importance of Blood Donation in life. social cause. A Nukkad Natak “Kudrat” was performed by Sukhmanch theatre artists, directed by Ms. Shilpi Marwaha (Group Leader) on this occasion. HEALTH AWARENESS TALK On 7th February 2019, NSS Society of Law Centre-II, organised a talk on health awareness as series of 3lectures on health topics ranging from CPR to organ donation to Cancer Prevention in women. The first session was on Organ donation conducted by Mohan Foundation which is an NGO working in the field of organ donation and transplantation. The session was chaired by Dr. Pallavi Rekhi, Programme Officer with Mohan Foundation and the talk was given by Dr. Deepa Kumari from Mohan Foundation. The second session was on Cancer Prevention in women and was conducted by Dr. Rahul Manchanda who is the Head of Department of Endoscopic Gynaecology at Pushpawati Singhania Research Institute (PSRI) Delhi. DUSTBIN INSTALLATION AND CLEAN CAMPUS DRIVE UNDER SWACCHTA PAKHWADA ABHIYANTRIKI Father of Nation Mahatama Gandhi gave us inspiration for clean India. Seeing the need of Dustbins to throw garbage in Law Centre-II, an initiative was taken by a student Ashu Bidhuri under the guidance of NSS Convener Dr. Nitesh Saraswat. With the help of North Delhi Municipal Corporation, 6 big and 20 small dustbins were installed in Umang Bhavan during Swacchta Pakhwada on 05 January 2019. SPORTS Sport activities have been an important feature at Law Centre-II. Under the guidance of Dr. Anupam Jha, Faculty Convener, Sports Committee organized various sports events at Law Centre-II. Badminton Tournament and 1km run was organized to ensure physical fitness as well as mental fitness on November 20, 2018. SPORTS FEST Sports Fest, ‘Oorja 19’ was organized on March 28-29, 2019. Various games were organized in the sports fest including Volleyball, Gully Cricket, Table Tennis, Chess, Badminton, Carrom, Athletics Fun Events, Arm Wrestling, Marathon, Long Jump, Kabaddi, Musical Chair, Tug of War, Dart, etc. The Chief Guest for the fest was Ms. Prerna Bhambri, Indian Tennis Player. 37 | P a g e
LEGAL AID The Legal Aid Committee of Law Centre-II is very active. Various legal aid activities were organized under the convenorship of Dr. Pinki Sharma. There is a Legal Aid Society at Law Centre-II which works in association with Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA). The Society carries out its functions with an aim to provide access to justice to the disadvantaged and marginalized sections of the population, primarily by spreading legal awareness and legal education in educational institutions and under-privileged communities. The Legal Aid Society of Law Centre-II conducted a written examination for induction of the students in the Legal Aid Society as Para Legal Volunteers (PLV) on October 4, 2018. A total of 825 students applied and 712 students appeared for the ‘PLV Induction Examination, 2018’. 150 students were selected as PLV and a 2 day Training Program was conducted by DSLSA on November 2-3, 2018 at Moot Court Hall, Umang Bhawan. 38 | P a g e
LEGAL AID ACTIVITIES 2019-20 Anganwadi Project With an aim to spread necessary legal awareness among the common people, predominantly those with no access to it, Anganwadi project was launched by DSLSA on August 12-15, 2018. 10 Para Legal Volunteers (PLVS) were allotted to New Delhi DLSA. PLVs worked as a bridge between common people and DSLSA. Walkathon at International Day of Older Persons Organized by Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, DSLSA was also a part of it and 45 PLVs participated. PLVs rendered paralegal assistance to the Senior Citizens (1500 in number), imparted knowledge of social welfare legislations, Senior Citizens Act (especially about Maintenance and pension) and the mode and manner of availing them. PLVs also helped in organizing the event and maintaining the crowd. The event was organized on October 1, 2018. Door to Door Campaign This was a Major Campaign which was organized by DSLSA and various DLSA asked for students’ participation. The event was organized from November 15-24, 2018. The Campaign's objective was to reach the masses and conduct survey on various legal issues faced locally particularly in the rural areas of the Delhi. 39 | P a g e
Traffic Awareness Drive This drive was organized to celebrate National Pollution Control Day. 20 PLVs along with Delhi Traffic Police spread Awareness among commuters at traffic intersection Rajpath, India Gate, New Delhi on December 3, 2018. Lok Adalat Lok Adalat has been organized at various court complexes on December 8, 2018. PLVs from Law Centre-II participated in various courts. PLVs observed the proceedings and helped out in filling the details and Compensation Bond. Book Fair The PLVs at stalls at New Delhi Book Fair 2019 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi represented both DSLSA and Law Centre-II from January 5 to January 13, 2019 and the main function included providing aid to the Legal Services Advocates (LSAs) and work as a bridge between common people and DSLSA to spread awareness and impart knowledge of social welfare legislations and the mode and manner of availing them. Along with this The Nukkad Natak team had performed twice to connect the people with DSLSA and to convey the legal message in layman way. Legal Aid Camp The Legal Aid Society, Law Centre- II in collaboration with Delhi State Legal Services Authorities (DSLSA) organized one day “Legal Aid and Awareness Camp” on 18 January 2019 at Bilaspur Camp, Badarpur. 40 | P a g e

Help Desk at Metro Stations New Delhi Legal Services Authority (NDLSA), organized help desks from March 7, 2019 to March 15, 2019 at 12 Metro stations i.e. Central Secretariat, Rajeev Chowk, Dhaula Kuan, South Campus, Mandi House etc. The PLVs were deputed to perform the duty of resource person of DSLSA in the jurisdiction of DMRC (Delhi Metro Rail Corporation). Training/Workshop on Missing Children by DSLSA A total of 140 Students were selected for the one day Training program conducted by DSLSA at Law Centre-II, Moot Court Hall, Umang Bhawan on March 14, 2019. Nukkad Natak Nukkad team of Legal Aid Society performed skit on various topics such as Domestic violence, Dowry, Senior CitizensAct, Sexual Harassment at Workplace, Acid attack victims, POCSO Act etc. from time to time at various event and program at the Centre. ATTENDANCE RULES 8(a) From the academic year 2014-2015, all the students of LL.B. shall have to put in minimum attendance of 70% of the lectures in each of the courses as also at the moot courts, tutorials and practical training course conducted or taught in a semester for taking the examination. Provided that if a student for any exceptional reasons fails to attend 70% of the classes held in any subject or training course, the Dean of the Faculty of Law, may allow the student to take the Examination for the semester if the student concerned attended at least 65% of the classes held in the subject concerned and attended 70% of classes in all the subjects taken together in all the courses of the semester. Provided further the Dean, Faculty of Law or a committee constituted by the Dean in this regard may relax absence from classes (of fifteen days in one semester and a maximum of twenty days in an academic year for participating in recognized moot court competitions, seminars and conferences, legal aid camps and activities, sensitization programmes, permitted and approved internships, training programmes relevant to legal education, permitted attendance in court and for unforeseen circumstances. The Dean of the Faculty or Professor-in-Charge of the Law Centre shall have power to strike off the name of a student who is grossly irregular in attendance in spite of warning, or, when the absence of student is for such a long period that he/she cannot put in requisite percentage of attendance for the semester. Note: For the students already enrolled in any of the Centres or Faculty of Law before 2014- 15 the present rules in clause 8 as prior to this amendment shall continue to govern their cases. 43 | P a g e
