F I ND YO UR SCHO O L’S O N L I NE CAL E NDAR AT WWW. KTU FSD.ORG /CAL E NDAR Message from the Superintendent & Board President Welcome students and families for the 2021-22 school year! Welcome to the 2021-22 school year! It is a me of opportunity and promise as we con nue to forge ahead and emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic stronger than ever. We hope everyone shares our excitement as we embark upon this new chapter in Ken-Ton. The past 18 months have been challenging for our en re community but it has also been a me of determina on, innova on and perseverance. History has demonstrated that the struggles we face only make us stronger and Ken-Ton is no excep on. We have become even more resourceful, adaptable and resilient. A historic expansion of instruc onal technology has provided a device for every student and the integra on of new technology and applica ons will make classroom instruc on more strategic and dynamic than ever before. We are excited about other ini a ves as well, all of which have come to frui on within the past year. For example, our Athle cs Department has brought unified sports to our District, providing opportuni es for students of all abili es. We have created a new full-day Universal Pre- Saba no Cimato, Kindergarten Program at Hamilton, where our future Class of 2035 is just now beginning their Superintendent educa onal journey, which has once again made Hamilton the center of its community. Addi onally, we are making significant progress on the Capital Project with some of the work being completed as early as this fall. Through this project, we can look forward to many improvements including new secured entranceways at all schools, an adap ve playground, improved water quality, enhanced pick-up/drop-off pa erns at several loca ons, and an ar ficial turf field at Kenmore East High School. All of our students will benefit from these transforma ve investments in our buildings and facili es. There is so much to be op mis c about as we look forward to the coming year. We are moving closer to our post-COVID future and have seen evidence of daily experiences that resemble pre-pandemic life. However, we will be prepared for Ma hew Chimera, any challenges that are on the horizon and as a community we will have the will to Board President confront them and the wisdom to do it together. In the coming year, our priority will con nue to be ensuring the academic success of our students while focusing on the health and safety of all in our community. Our strategic plan, the Ken-Ton Forward, will be at the center of our efforts. We are focusing on the cyclical process that is the founda on for making our Ken-Ton Forward a living document. Our efforts will be grounded in the five core areas of the Ken-Ton Forward (Instruc on for All; Technology; Social Emo onal Health & Wellness; Finance, Safety and Opera ons; and Community Engagement) leading us on the path of con nuous improvement. We already had an extremely strong founda on in Ken-Ton. Our District is defined by its excep onal programs and services, world-class teachers, talented and dedicated staff, strong ins tu onal tradi ons, and a long, proud history of excellence. The experiences of the past year have made us even stronger and our ini a ves will propel us to new levels of academic success. We wish all of our students, families and staff the very best as we kick off the 2021-22 school year. We know you will make us proud and con nue to exemplify the district’s legacy of dis nc on. We look forward to seeing all the achievements and milestones this year will bring. Have a great year!
