Fridays when there is a school mass, masses will be held at 6:15 am and 8:15 am. Saturday at 8:00 am. Parishioners are especially encouraged to attend daily mass during these 40 days. Lenten Regulations 1. Everyone 14 years of age or over is bound to abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday and all the Fridays of Lent. 2. All from the age of 18 years up to the beginning of their 60th year are bound to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. 3. On these two days of fast and abstinence, only one full meatless meal is allowed. Two other meatless meals, sufficient to maintain strength, may be taken according to each one’s needs, but together they should not equal another full meal. Eating between meals is not permitted on these two days, but liquids, including milk and fruit juices are allowed. When health or ability to work would be seriously affected, the law does not oblige. 4. To disregard completely the law of fast and abstinence is seriously sinful. 5. Lent is the principal season of penance in the Church year. All of the faithful are strongly urged to develop and follow a program of voluntary self-denial (in addition to following the Lenten regulations), serious prayer, and a performance of works of charity and mercy. Those who are sick, pregnant, or nursing, or whose health would adversely be affected by fasting or abstinence, should not consider themselves bound by these norms.

Sixth Sunday of Ordinary Time www.icelmhurst.org February 14, 2021 16 We Are IC! Capital Campaign Thanks to those who have made a pledge and supported the We Are IC Capital Campaign. If you have not yet made a pledge, please consider doing so. We need gifts at all levels and pledges can be paid over a five-year time period. Some of you are not comfortable making a pledge and prefer to “give as you are able.” If you would like to support the capital campaign without making a formal pledge, please use the capital campaign envelope in your monthly envelope packet or make a one-time gift online. Sacred Heart of Jesus Renewal Prayer O Most Holy Heart of Jesus, for whom it is impossible not to have compassion for us, please have mercy upon us as we place our trust in You. To You we surrender the many needs of Your church; asking for Your help, especially on those who are in pain. Please heal the hearts of those who are broken and help us to grow closer to You. As our Immaculate Conception community anticipates the renewal of the chapel in Your honor, help our hearts, minds, and voices to be strengthened by Your goodness and love. We come before You grateful for all that You have done for us. Help us to be ever generous with what we have received as we return our blessings to You. Amen Naming Opportunities There are several ways to remember deceased loved ones or honor the living as part of the We are IC capital campaign. If you should choose to make a gift at one of these levels, or would like more information, please contact Catey Cohen in the parish office at 630-530-8991.
