This is where skateboarding all began, with skaters showing

Who grabs a board to ride a wave through 100-foot pylons or
hurls down a metal rail at 80-plus mph? We do.
Talk about bragging rights. Surf City USA won two GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS honors in 2015 and another in 2017. First, in 2015, Surf
City USA made the record book for having the World’s Largest Surfboard—it measures 42 feet and weighs 1,300-plus pounds. (That’s the
big board displayed outside the International Surfing Museum.) Then, the 66 people who climbed on that board and rode a wave for 12
seconds earned the honor of Most People Riding A Surfboard At Once. Then in June of 2017, more than 500 surfers held hands in the ocean
for the largest recorded paddle-out Circle of Honor, putting us in the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS book again. Surfers gathered for a

A 1,300-acre coastal estuary and bird watchers’ paradise, Bolsa
Chica’s earthen trails and boardwalks are the spots to catch a
glimpse of a grey heron looking for lunch in the marsh. More than
200 bird species are seen at the reserve, which includes open water,

mudflats, salt and freshwater marshes, coastal dunes, and seabird
nesting islands. It’s one of the largest wetlands along the California
coast and a key stop for migratory birds. Managed by the California
Department of Fish and Wildlife, three nonprofit organizations help
with restoration and also offer free weekend tours.
