   • Our 3 class times table stars (most coins earned in the last week) are Ethan,
       Anisha and Devon. Well done!
   • We hope that you have been reading lots at home. This week, I have been
reading a range of mystery books. I’ve enjoyed trying to guess the solution
before the end of the book especially when I have had to change my ideas as
the plot develops. These books have kept me hooked and interested start to
       finish.
   • Don’t forget you have the CGP and the Abacus text books if you are looking
for more work to do. Please DO NOT write in the text books.
   • Please ask your parents if they have registered for WEDUC. Don't miss out on
the latest Abbey news, advice, useful information and links. If you haven't yet
registered, please email office@abbey-tmet.uk for your enrolment code.

Keep safe and we will hopefully see you all soon,

This is an optional activity that you can do with your
family at any time this week. We’d love to see pictures of
                                                      what you do.

Make some music. Create your own
instrument or use an instrument you
already have to make some music.

Lots of you will have your recorders from Year 3 or you can
make instruments from cans, bottles, straws, pasta/rice/dried
             beans and other everyday objects.
Here are examples of us completing this challenge (with family
members and pets). Think about our Science work on sound –
how have these sounds been made? How do you alter the
                           pitch?

                             Miss Fagan played several
                             pieces of music by blowing

lay with her big grey nose dropped across her four tumbling, squealing cubs,
and the moon shone into the mouth of the cave where they all lived. "Augrh!"
said Father Wolf. "It is time to hunt again." He was going to spring down the
hill when a little shadow with a bushy tail crossed the threshold and whined,

Task 1 Reading activity – Retrieval questions. Answer in as few words as possible.

English By around 410AD, the last of the Romans had left Britain to go back to Rome and England was left
to look after itself for the first time in about 400 years. Emperor Honorius told the people to fight the
Picts, Scots and Saxons who were attacking them, but the Brits were not good fighters.
The Scots, who came from Ireland, invaded and took land in Scotland. The Scots split Scotland into
4 separate places that were named Dal Riata, Pictland, Strathclyde and Bernicia. The Picts (the
people already living in Scotland) and the Scots were always trying to get into England. It was hard
for the people in England to fight them off without help from the Romans. The Picts and Scots are
said to have jumped over Hadrian’s Wall, killing everyone in their way.

              1. When did the last Romans leave Britain?
              2. What group of people were attacking England at this time?
              3. Where did the Scots come from?
              4. Who were the Picts?
              5. What did the Picts and Scots do as they jumped over Hadrian’s wall?
