The activities have been designed to replicate the activities that our teachers conduct in the classrooms and have been redesigned to help you facilitate it at home with your child. Thematic English Core ACTIVITY: MONDAY, 27 APRIL 2020 TRAIN STATION CATS K1 MATERIALS: OBJECTIVES: 1) 1) Story book – Train Station Cats (pdf) - Your child will listen to the story ‘Train Station 2) Cat Phonic songs Cats’ and respond to the questions. https://youtu.be/VIWEr1xkE0c Lesson Development: 1) Begin the activity by singing the ‘Cat phonic songs’ via youtube https://youtu.be/VIWEr1xkE0c 2) Introduce the author, illustrator, title and the cover page of the story book “Train Station Cats” 3) Read the title of the book while pointing to the words. 4) Read the story to your child at a moderate space and point to words. 5) Reread the story and at each juncture, ask your child the following questions. 6) Invite your child to join in the repetitive word ‘Cat’ in the part of the story. Questions for Discussion: 1) Can you tell me what do you see on this book cover? What do you think the story is about? 2) How many cats do you see? What are their names? 3) Which one is called Teh, Susu and Kopi O? Why did Deanna call them by that name? 4) Who is Deanna? What did she love to do? 5) What happen when Deanna find out that the train station is closing? 6) Did Deanna’s mother allow Deanna to bring the three cats home? Why? 7) How did Deanna find the cats’ new home? 8) Did Deanna manage to find home for all three cats? 9) Which are the cats that Uncle Ali and Uncle Ravi looked after? 10) Why was Deanna sad? 11) Does Kopi O have a home? Note to Parents: 1) Find a suitable time and cosy place to do the reading activity. 2) Read the story in advance before reading it to your child. 3) Encourage your child to read the word ‘cat’ as you point the words in every page of the book. 4) Enjoy reading to your child! Thematic English Core ACTIVITY: WEDNESDAY, 29 APRIL 2020 TAKING CARE OF CATS K1 MATERIALS : OBJECTIVES: 1) Factsheets on Basic Cat Care for kids - Your child will be able to build http://petcyclopedia.com/blog/basic-cat-care-for- knowledge through exploration, kids/ experience and discussion. 2) Youtube: How to take care of cats. https://youtu.be/IKR6FPerXes 3) Cut out colour papers into cat related object such as basket, milk, cat litter, pet brush, food dish, a can of wet food, cat toys, scratch pole and cat dry food. 4) Stationery (crayons, colour pencils, pencil) 5) A4 paper Lesson Development: 1) Recall with your child on the story book that you have read to him/her. 2) Invite your child to watch the Youtube video on how to take care of cats. 3) Discuss with your child the things to prepare before adopting a cat. 4) Encourage your child to name the items. E.g cat litter, cat food, food dish, cat toys, scratch pole and etc. 5) Show the colour paper cut-outs to your child. 6) Encourage your child to name the cut-outs. 7) Place the colour paper cut-outs on the floor. Spread them around. 8) Inform your child that you will be playing a game about caring for a cat. 9) Your child has to stand in the middle and listen to your command. 10) Your child has to pick up the object on the floor that goes with the command. Eg “Feed the cat.” Your child has to pick up the cut-out of the food dish, and cat food. Your child will pretend to pour the cat food into the food dish and call the cat to eat. 11) Once your child has found the appropriate object, call out a new command. 12) At the end of the activity, ask your child to describe what he/she has learned about caring for a cat. 13) Encourage your child to draw and write one sentence on how he /she can care for a cat. Questions for Discussions: 1) What are the basic care needs for a cat? 2) Name some items you need to care for a cat? 3) How can you care for a cat? 4) If you have a cat, what would you name it? How would you care for your cat? Thematic English Core ACTIVITY: FIRDAY, 4 MAY 2020 LET’S CREATE A BOX CAT! K1 MATERIALS : OBJECTIVES: 5) Glue 1) Song: ‘Care for Cats’ - Your child will use a variety of art 6) Scissors 2) Small box materials to explore ideas and 7) Pencil 3) Paints emotions. 8) Cottonball 4) Paintbrush 9) Wriggly eyes 10) Fishing line / yarn Lesson Development: 1) Invite your child to sing the song ‘Care for Cats.’: Care for Cats (Sing to the tune row, row your boat.) Love , love, love your cat Love them every day. Give them food And water too, Then let them Run and play. Making A Box Cat: 1) Inform your child that he will be creating a cat from a box. 2) Take a box and glue the top and bottom flaps. 3) Draw an outline on the wide panels. Position the box horizontally so that the widest panel is facing your child. 4) Mark the bottom outline of the cat’s body by drawing 3 sides of a rectangle at the bottom of the box. The horizontal line corresponds to the cat’s stomach and vertical lines to its legs. Create an identical rectangle on the opposite side of the box. Thematic English Core 5) Draw an outline on the small panels. Turn the box so that the adjacent small panel is facing the child. Mark the bottom outline of cat’s body by drawing 3 sides of a rectangle at the bottom of the box. Make sure that the top horizontal sides of the rectangles are the same height. 6) Cut along the lines. First cut out the entire bottom panel, then cut along the outlines on each panel side. 7) Draw the cat’s head on the cardboard and draw shoulder below the head and rectangular tab at the bottom. 8) Cut out the head and glue its bottom tab onto the from panel of the cat’s box body. 9) Ask your child to draw the tail on the cardboard. Your child can draw a curvy or a straight tail. 10) Cut the tail and glue it to the back of the cat’s box body. Let the glue dry completely. 11) Paint the cat and the cat’s ears. Once the paint is dry , create the cat face. You may encourage your child to glue the wriggly eyes . Shape some cotton into two small ovals and glue them below the eyes. To add a nose, glue a pompom between the cotton ovals. 12) Add some details such as a yarn as the collar neck . 13) After the activity, encourage your child to sing the Care for Cat song with you. Note to Parents: 1) You may encourage your child to use two or more colours for the body. TADIKA 1 Peralatan / Bahan-bahan : Objektif: 1) Doa Sebelum Belajar (Annex A) Anak anda akan berpeluang: 1) Video di Youtube: Kisah Omar & Hana | - Memahami jalan cerita dalam buku. ‘Nak Atuk Nenek’: - Berkongsi pengalaman peribadi dengan orang https://youtu.be/PzWoyHbTzL8 lain menggunakan ayat-ayat yang mudah. 2) Buku besar (pdf) berjudul ‘Gigi Datuk’ Arahan: 1) Mulakan sesi dengan membaca ‘Doa sebelum Belajar’ (Annex A) bersama-sama. 2) Ajak anak anda menonton kisah ‘Nak Atuk Nenek’ oleh Omar & Hana. Berapa seringkah mereka dapat menziarahi datu dan nenek dan apa yang selalu mereka lakukan bersama? 4) Mulakan sesi membaca dengan memperkenalkan buku ‘Gigi Datuk’ melalui ilustrasi pada kulit buku, membacakan tajuk buku, nama penulis dan juga nama pelukis. Berinteraksi dengan anak anda berdasarkan ilustrasi di dalam buku. 5) Bacakan buku cerita dengan terperinci dengan mengenalkan kepada anak anda tentang teks yang ada di dalam buku. 6) Anda akan dapat mengenalkan tentang cara pembacaan yang betul dengan menuding setiap perkataan sambil membaca, daripada kiri ke kanan dan atas ke bawah. 7) Ajak anak anda untuk membaca dialog di dalam kotak perbualan di setiap lembaran. 8) Tukarkan nada suara anda mengikut watak di dalam buku. 9) Anda boleh menanyakan soalan-soalan yang sesuai mengikut setiap lembaran buku cerita. AKTIVITI HARIAN UNTUK BELAJAR DI RUMAH AKTIVITI (1 jam): RABU, 26 APRIL 2020 JOM LUMBA KAIN PELIKAT TADIKA 1 Peralatan / Bahan-bahan : Objektif: 1) Buku besar (pdf) berjudul ‘Gigi Datuk’ Anak anda akan berpeluang: 2) Kain pelikat ( 4 atau 5 helai) - Berbincang tentang kain pelikat. - Menyertai kegiatan melatih kemahiran motor kasar dengan melompat atau berlari. Arahan: 1) Mulakan aktiviti hari ini dengan membaca ‘Doa sebelum Belajar’ (Annex A). 2) Tanyakan anak anda, “Ingatkah kamu akan Datuk dalam buku cerita semalam? Apa yang selalu Datuk pakai bila dia ada di rumah? Apakah nama kain merah yang dipakainya” 3) Tunjukkan anak anda 4 atau 5 helai kain pelikat yang ada di rumah. 4) Ajak anak anda berbincang tentang kain sarong atau kain pelikat yang seperti Datuk pakai. 5) Adakah kamu pernah nampak Ayah atau Datuk memakai kain pelikat seperti itu? 6) Pernahkah kamu mencuba memakai kain pelikat? Mari cuba sarungkan kain pelikat ini. LUMBA KAIN PELIKAT 1. Ambil sehelai kain pelikat, tunjukkan pada anak anda cara untuk menyarung kain pelikat, masukkan kedua kaki ke dalam sarung dan suruh anak anda memegang kain itu di hadapannya. 2. Kemudian, galakkan anak anda melompat atau berlari sambil memegang kain sarung itu dari garisan permulaan hingga ke garisan penamat. 3. Jika anda ada lebih dari seorang anak, ajaklah mereka bersama-sama berlumba. Atau anda boleh merakam masa yang diambil anak anda untuk sampai ke arusan penamat. Rakamkan video dan tontoni sama-sama nanti. Aktiviti lanjutan: 1) Ajak anak anda melipat kain pelikat yang anda telah kumpulkan. 2) Ajarkan cara-cara melipat. Bentangkan kain di atas lantai dan lipatkan kepada dua bahagian. 3) Kemudian dilipatkan lagi dan ulangkan hingga menjadi bentuk empat persegi yang kemas. Nota untuk Ibu bapa/ Waris: 1) Aktiviti fizikal adalah sesuatu aspek yang unik malah amat penting dalam pendidikan awal kanak- kanak. Sesuatu pergerakan akan membantu pertumbuhan tubuh badan menjadi sihat. Selain itu, kanak-kanak dapat juga menguasai kemahiran fizikal serta dapat meningkatkan lagi keupayaan pergerakannya. Pengalaman yang diperoleh melalui permainan, tarian, gerak rama dan aktiviti gimnastik menjadikan kanak-kanak seronok apabila mereka dapat menguasai beberapa kemahiran tertentu. AKTIVITI HARIAN UNTUK BELAJAR DI RUMAH AKTIVITI (1 jam): KHAMIS, 27 APRIL 2020 JOM BUAT CORAK PELIKAT TADIKA 1 Peralatan / Bahan-bahan : Objektif: 1) Beberapa helai kain pelikat yang belainan Anak anda akan berpeluang: corak dan warna. - Memerhatikan corak dan warna kain pelikat. 2) Kertas - Membuat corak kain pelikat sendiri. 3) Pensil warna / pena marker / cat poster - Berlatih melakukan sesuatu sendiri, memupuk 4) Pembaris panjang sifat berdikari. Kemudian kamu boleh mereka corak kamu sendiri!” 3) Tunjukkan anak anda kain pelikat yang berlainan corak. 4) Berbincang tentang corak-corak dan warna-warna yang ada. 5) Berikan anak anda kertas berbentuk empat segi panjang. 6) Anak anda boleh memilih untuk membuat satu corak sahaja dalam satu kertas ataupun untuk dibahagikan kepada 4 bahagian dan mebuat 4 corak yang berlainan. 7) Tunjukkan cara menggunakan pembaris panjang untuk melukiskan garisan seperti corak kain pelikat. 8) Sediakan pensil warna, pena marker ataupun cat poster. 9) Galakkan anak anda untuk mereka corak sendiri atau boleh juga meniru corak yang ada. Dan mengapakah adiknya, Hana dibenarkan untuk makan selepas azan Zohor. 8) Terapkan pengajaran bahawa, bila kita berpuasa, kita jadi sabar, dan Allah akan sayang kita. 9) Galakkan anak anda untuk cuba berpuasa walaupun kalau tidak dapat berpuasa penuh sehari. 10) Ajak anak anda membuat kalendar Ramadhan seperti di dalam gambar. Isikan setiap sampul dengan kad yang tertulis ganjaran seperti ‘Dapat makan 2 keping pizza’ ataupun, ‘Dapat bermain ‘Snake & Ladder’ bersama, dan lain-lain. Setiap hari yang anak anda dapat berpuasa, berikannya kad ganjaran itu dan raikan kejayaannya. Aktiviti Lanjutan: 1) Kemudian, ajaklah anak anda untuk mengambil wudhuk dan melakukan solat jemaah bersama- sama. Aturkanlah saf dan arahkan anak anda berdiri di tempat yang betul.
