HILLTOP – CAMP BRANDENBURG 6258 Brandenburg Road Dane, WI 53529 608.849.5274 Hilltop is a unique lodge situated in the center of Camp Brandenburg. The four bunkhouses of Hilltop branch off from the main activity area of the lodge and up the side of the hill. Follow the window-lined stairs up to one of our heated bunkhouses and enjoy views of the entire camp. Each bunkhouse sleeps eight campers in addition to two cots in the main living area for leaders or volunteers. The maximum occupancy for Hilltop is 34. Hilltop also contains a fully equipped kitchen and two modern bathroom facilities. Girl Scouts always leave a place better than they found it. Amenities at Hilltop: Sites are checked regularly, but the list of amenities may not be completely accurate. Please make every effort to only take what you brought with you. If you see something that is missing, please contact the Badgerland Customer Care Team. Kitchen Supplies • Dishes, cups and silverware for 34 • Knives and cutting boards • 1 subzero and 1 regular refrigerator • Roasting forks • Gas stove and oven • Pudgy pie irons (approximately 12) • Microwave, toaster and coffee maker • Dishpans and drainer • Large pots, pans and baking sheets • Large island for cooking and prep • Pitchers, colanders, serving bowls Bedrooms (each with own thermostat) • 1 bedroom by main entrance with 2 beds • Cabin A: first on North stairs with 4 bunk beds, sleeps 8 • Cabin B: second on North stairs with 4 bunk beds and outdoor access • Cabin C: first on South stairs with 4 bunk beds, sleeps 8 • Cabin D: second on South stairs with 4 bunk beds and outdoor access Living Area • Large programming space adjacent to kitchen with fireplace • Mess hall off kitchen, closet of games and art supplies, TV with VCR and DVD players • Extra tables and chairs in sun room/porch area • Enclosed outdoor courtyard, large programming space with fireplace • During winter, sleds are stored in the basement of Hilltop Bathroom • Two identical bathrooms off main hallway • Hooks on walls • Stalled bathrooms • Standing showers *Bathroom stalls and showers are ADA compliant Outside • Outdoor fire circle – firewood stored in • Hiking trails box by outdoor fire circle • Benches • Shelter for bird watching on trail to Sumac Maintenance Supplies • Cleaning equipment and supplies (in closet between bathrooms) • Trash and recyclables dumpsters by warehouse in parking lot • Utility room near main entrance includes paper products, garbage bags, bug spray and fans • Switchboard at entryway controls light switches and electric baseboard heaters, turn on for parts of the house that you will be using, turn off at departure. 2

Most GPS units will direct you to the entrance to Lake Katrine, correct directions are below. Directions from Madison area: • Take Hwy-12 N out of Middleton (approximately 9 miles, 1 mile past Hwy-19 W) to Collins Ridge Rd. • Turn LEFT on Collins Ridge Rd. and travel 0.1 mile to Brandenburg Rd. • Turn LEFT onto Brandenburg Rd. • Hilltop is the first driveway on the left as Brandenburg Rd. makes a sharp right turn • Fire #6258 is posted at the road. A Brandenburg sign (brown with green lettering) is at the gated entrance. The gate is not locked, but is chained. Directions from Baraboo area: • Follow Hwy-12 S from Sauk City • Take second RIGHT onto Collins Ridge Rd. (Hwy-12 has two intersections with Collins Ridge Rd., make right turn at second intersection) • Turn LEFT onto Brandenburg Rd. • Hilltop is the first driveway on the left as Brandenburg Rd. makes a sharp right turn. (0.1 miles) • Turn right at the 1st cross street onto US-12 W (8.8 miles) • Take Exit #251A for US-12 W toward Spring Green/La Crosse • Keep left at the fork, follow signs for University Ave. • Turn left onto University Ave. • Turn left onto University Bay Dr. • Continue straight onto Highland Ave. • University Hospital will be on the right side of Highland Ave. Emergency Action Plan Please review the emergency contact information in this packet. The emergency numbers are also posted by the phone at Hilltop. Upon arrival at Hilltop establish emergency procedures and a meeting place in case of fire. If Med Flight is needed, prearranged coordinates for pick up are next to the gate near Hilltop in the field to the east of the entrance gate. The person in charge of a troop/group is responsible for reporting any injury to Badgerland Council that requires treatment by medical service personnel. This must be done the first business day after the injury occurs. **Poison ivy, poison oak, wild parsnip, wood ticks and deer ticks are present at Camp Brandenburg. Be sure to familiarize yourself with each of these pests. Property Policies Safety At least one adult in the group needs to have completed the Troop Overnight Certification (found at gsbadgerland.org under Volunteer> Volunteer Training). TOC 1 is for indoor overnights and TOC 2 is for outdoor overnights. Adults in charge are responsible for following Safety Activity Checkpoints (also found at gsbaderland.org under Volunteer> Volunteer Resources). Review appropriate adult-to-girl ratios for your activities. Every adult needs to have a completed background check. Make certain that any male volunteers have separate sleeping quarters for any overnight stay. • No snowmobiles or motorized wheeled vehicles are permitted on the property. • Firearms are not permitted on Girl Scout property at any time. • Pets are not permitted anywhere on Badgerland properties, with the exception of service animals, and by specific permission of the Council CEO. • Do not post information about the property site and key codes online Inclement Weather A weather radio is on site for your use. Arrangements are made for snow plowing all council sites, but weather may cause timing difficulties. Controlled Substances No alcoholic beverages may be consumed at girl activities or when minors are present at Girl Scout adult events. No smoking, illegal drugs or misuse of substances is allowed in any Badgerland Council building or on any property. Disruptive behavior due to alcohol consumption or drug usage will result in immediate dismissal from the site. Cleaning Badgerland Council does not have janitorial service clean our sites. Each troop or group staying at a site is responsible for removing garbage and recyclables and cleaning the site per check out instructions. All donations to property must be approved by the Property Supervisor. Please do not leave unwanted items behind. Property Closure All sites are subject to immediate closure per designation by council. Every effort will be made to find an alternate date or property, or a full refund will be issued. Cancellation Policy Fees for any council property reservation may be refunded only with a written request at least two weeks prior to the date of the reserved stay. If weather conditions make transporting girls dangerous, leaders must notify the council of the cancellation before they are scheduled to arrive at the property. Emergency Contact We ask that all Badgerland Council property reservations provide the council with an off-site emergency contact person. The emergency contact must have a full camper roster and emergency contact information for all participants on-site. This person should be listed on your reservation form. 7
