It gives me great pleasure to welcome this new edition of Hellenic Defence Industries Catalogue, HELDIC 2019, a useful tool intending to provide on a yearly basis an overview of defence industrial capabilities in Greece. Introduction The Hellenic defence industry is considered an important factor for the protection of the country’s essential security interests, guaranteeing the security of supply and the strategic autonomy. It is also vital to the country’s overall economic growth, by providing high quality products and services, along with complete support throughout their life cycle. As such, it also forms an integral part of the EU and NATO defence technological and industrial base. The defence industry in Greece consists of several large companies and a significant number of SME’s. The number of listed companies has increased significantly in relation to the previous edition, mainly due to the positive impact that it had on the companies and the efforts of GDDIA to sustain and develop the domestic defence industry, taking into consideration the growing opportunities for international cooperation on defence. Experience, inventiveness, and commitment to quality, is helping Hellenic defence companies to have a continuous international presence and to seek business opportunities globally. Furthermore, they always try to keep up with the international defence markets requirements by improving their capabilities, while they focus on cost effectiveness. Nowadays, the high complexity and cost of development, production and acquisition of modern defence equipment inevitably impose the need for international cooperation, involving countries and companies, in order to share the burden and to reap the mutual benefits. To this end, the Ministry of National Defence, within the frame of the National Defence Industrial Strategy, has taken the initiative to foster the industrial collaboration at a national level while augmenting readiness and visibility of the enterprises to interact with foreign partners. This strategy also includes and transparently promotes the international cooperation in R&D, the development of synergies between defence and security / dual use sectors and the defence materiel exports. Hopefully this catalogue will serve both national and international stakeholders, encouraging them to identify potential Hellenic partners in defence activities. Vice Admiral H.N. (Rtd) Kyriakos Kyriakidis General Director GDDIA HMoD, General Directorate for Defence Investments & Armaments, HELDIC, 2019 3
The Directorate of Defence Investments and Technological Research of GDDIA, has been entrusted with the task of updating the Hellenic Defence Industries Catalogue (HELDIC). The HELDIC 2019 edition follows the same standardized and Editorial structured format as the 2018, helping the reader to gain easy access to specific company information such as activity, products, size, customers, certifications etc, Each company’s activity is indicated by selecting one or more out of 14 areas (Sectors of activity), while their capability and position in the value chain are also highlighted. The selection is done in accordance with detailed guidelines which are included in this catalogue. The companies are listed alphabetically and an index table has been incorporated which provides information about each entity’s type of activity. HELDIC 2019 has surpassed the figures of the previous edition (51 listed companies, instead of 34 in 2018) as a result of the growing interest of the Hellenic defence industries for international cooperations and GDDIA’s continuous efforts to provide a more realistic presentation of the domestic defence industrial capabilities. This catalogue is representative of the Hellenic Defence industry, even if it does not include all the companies having defence activity in Greece. Although the participation to the catalogue is optional, certain eligibility criteria related to defence sector particularities and sensitivities apply. The establishment of the criteria and the final selection of the companies included in the HELDIC 2019, were finalized in collaboration with the associations HASDIG and SEKPY, which are featured in this edition. We have done our outmost to guarantee the accuracy of the information contained herein, however it should be noted that the information was mainly based on data submitted by the companies under their responsibility. HMoD, General Directorate for Defence Investments & Armaments, HELDIC, 2019 5
