2022 PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS Mimi Bartoletti, D.M.D. Butte, Dentistry, Southwest Montana Community Health Center (406) 565-6143, mimibartoletti@swmtchc.org Mimi Bartoletti, D.M.D., is a general dentist and Dental Director at Southwest Montana Community Health Center located in Butte. She attended the University of California Santa Cruz and completed her dental education at the Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health. Mimi enjoys recreating in the beautiful Montana outdoors with her husband and two young daughters. In their spare time, her family enjoys working on their cattle ranch and playing with their overabundance of pets. Cassie Belzer, APRN, CNM Bozeman, Midwifery/Women’s Health, Bozeman Health (406) 522-9663, cbelzer@bozemanhealth.org Cassie Belzer, APRN, CNM, is a full-scope Certified Nurse Midwife. She has been in practice in Bozeman since 2012 and has worked as faculty at Frontier Nursing University since 2016. She received her associate degree in nursing in 1999 at Phillips Beth Israel School of Nursing. She practices in women’s health in settings such as infertility, postpartum, labor and delivery, childbirth education, lactation, and management. She attended Frontier Nursing University to achieve her Master of Nursing degree in 2012 and then her Doctor of Nursing in 2016. She serves as the Vice President on the American Midwifery Certification Board Exam Committee, is a member of ACNM, on the Advance Practice Leader Board at Bozeman Health, and board member of Roots Family Collaborative. Maggie Cook-Shimanek, M.D., MPH Missoula, Occupational & Preventive Medicine, DPHHS & DLI (720) 281-4455, margaret.cook-shimanek@mt.gov Maggie Cook-Shimanek, M.D., MPH, works as the acting state medical officer for the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Ser- vices and is the Medical Director for the Montana Department of Labor and Industry, Employment Relations Division. Dr. Cook-Shimanek is board certified in both Occupational Medicine and General Preventive Medicine and completed her residency training programs at the University of Colorado. She has a Master of Public Health with a concentration in epidemiology from the Colorado School of Public Health. She is the immediate past president of the Rocky Mountain Academy of Occupational & Environmental Medicine. Additionally, she has been selected to serve on the Shoulder Panel for the ACOEM Clinical Practice Guidelines and sits on the External Advisory Panel for the Mountain and Plains Education and Research Center located at the Colorado School of Public Health.
Anne Giuliano, M.D. Billings, Radiology, Radiology Partners (406) 670-4680, awgiuliano@gmail.com Anne Giuliano, M.D., specializes in Vascular and Interventional Radiology (IR). In 2019, she joined Radiology Partners and Matrix Radiology and is now a partner, and serves as the Regional Pod President for the Atlantic Coast Region. Dr. Giuliano completed a Vascular and IR fellowship at the University of Utah. After finishing her IR fellowship, Dr. Giuliano joined Eastern Radiological Associates in Billings and practiced as a hospital-based IR physician. In 2012 she transitioned out of hospital-based practice and opened her own business treating venous disease in the community. Dr. Giuliano completed medical school and a General Surgery internship at the University of Massachusetts, and completed her Diagnostic Radiology residency at the University of Utah. She spends her free time volunteering at the Montana Family Medicine Residence program, teaching radiology. Jerimiah Lysinger, M.D. Billings, Pediatric Pulmonology & Pediatrics, Billings Clinic (406) 281-4652, jlysinger@billingsclinic.org Jeri Lysinger, M.D., joined Billings Clinic in July of 2009. He is board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Pulmonogy, and is the Department Chair of Billings Clinic Pediatrics. Dr. Lysinger attended the University of Washington School of Medicine, followed by his Pediatric residency and a Pediatric Pulmonology fellowship at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus/ Children’s Hospital in Aurora, CO. Dr. Lysinger serves as the Director of the Cystic Fibrosis Center of the Northern Rockies, the Director of the Therapeutic Development Center for the Cystic Fibrosis Center of the Northern Rockies, and the Medical Director for Pediatric Specialty Medicine at Billings Clinic. He is also a Cystic Fibrosis Newborn Screening consultant for the State of Montana’s Children’s Special Health Services. Shawn Patrick, Pharm.D., BCPP Livingston, Pharmacy, Community Health Partners, Inc. (406) 596-4749, patricksh@chphealth.org Shawn Patrick, Pharm.D., is currently the Director of Pharmacy at Community Health Partners and has been a pharmacist for over 10 years. He serves on the Committee’s for Legislative/Policy and Membership/Benefit at the Montana Pharmacy Association. He has worked in retail, clinical, and hospital pharmacy. He is a graduate of the University of Montana and is board bertified in Psychiatric Pharmacy. Shawn was raised in Cardwell, MT on a ranch that was homesteaded by his Mom’s family. In his free time, he enjoys skiing, hunting, working on the family’s ranch and is known to make a mean apple pie.

Missoula, Emergency & Internal Medicine, Monida Healthcare Network (406) 728-9441, robert.roeper@gmail.com Robert Roeper, D.O., is currently Secretary of the Board and Director of Peer Review for Monida Healthcare Network, Chair of the Medical Malpractice Committee, and a Member of the Finance Committee. He retired from the practice of medicine in March 2021, after 32 years. Dr. Roeper graduated from Pacific Union College in Angwin, CA, in 1982 with a bachelor’s of science degree in biochemistry, and the University of Health Sciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine, Kansas City, MO, in 1986. He completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at San Joaquin General Hospital, Stockton, CA. Dr. Roeper continues to be interested in quality improvement and utilizing peer review as a tool to achieve improvement. Married to Terri for 33 wonderful years, Dr. Roeper continues to practice Tai Chi and has an ongoing love affair with the guitar and is humbled by the experience. Laura Williamson, MPH Helena, Epidimiology, Montana Dept. of Public Health & Human Services (406) 465-0635, lwilliamson@mt.gov Laura Williamson is the State Epidemiologist at DPHHS. She has over 15 years of public health experience working at the local, state, and federal levels. As the State Epidemiologist, Laura coordinates surveillance, informatics, communicable disease epidemiology, and environmental health activities. Laura has worked on a variety of public health issues, including cancer and tobacco control, non-infectious disease investigations, and, most recently, the COVID-19 response. Prior to moving to Montana, Laura was a researcher with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Division of Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Obesity. Laura’s training and background is in chronic disease epidemiology, and she holds a Master of Public Health degree in Epidemiology from Emory University in Atlanta, GA.

Jean Branscum, Chief Executive Officer, Montana Medical Association Office: (406) 443-4000 Cell: (406) 439-5960, jean@mmaoffice.org Jean Branscum currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Montana Medical Association, the Director of the Montana Medical Legal Panel, and the Chief Administrative Officer of the Montana Medical Association Foundation. She served an integral role in the launch of Montana’s Health Information Exchange, Big Sky Care Connect, and currently serves on the Board. Ms. Branscum previously served as the Executive Director for the Montana Board of Medical Examiners and as Deputy Secretary of State responsible for Administrative Rules and Notary Services Division. In addition, she served within the Montana Governor’s Office under Governor Judy Martz and Governor Marc Racicot as a Policy Advisor.
Delivery of Healthcare in Montana Jennifer Brunsdon, M.D. Jennifer Brunsdon, M.D., is the Medical Director at the Helena Indian Alliance. She attended medical school through the WWAMI Program, at the University of Washington, where she also completed her Family Medicine residency. After residency, Dr. Brunsdon worked at the Farm Workers’ Clinic in Okanogan, WA for 5 years before moving back to Helena to work at St Peter’s Hospital. A more varied, rural practice appealed to her, and in 2011 she started working at MountainView Medical Center in White Sulphur Springs. JP Maganito, D.O. James Paul C. Maganito, D.O. is Chief of Staff at the Montana VA Healthcare System. Dr. Maganito was appointed Chief of Staff in 2019. He originally joined the Montana VAHCS, in 2012, serving as the Gynecologist and Occupational Health Medical Officer, and became the Women’s Health Medical Director until 2015. Prior to his return to the VAHCS, he was Chief Medical Officer of Blue Cross Blue Shield of MT. He earned his medical degree from Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery. While earning his doctorate, he simultaneously finished his Masters in Public Health and in Healthcare Administration at Des Moines University College of Health Sciences – Division of Health Management. Rich Rasmussen Rich Rasmussen is the President and CEO of the Montana Hospital Association. The association serves as the advocacy voice for 87 health care organizations providing hospital, long-term care, physician, hospice and home health services. He has spent almost thirty years advocating on behalf of hospitals and health systems. Rich also serves as the President of the Montana Health Research Education Foundation and MHA Ventures. Both are subsidiaries of the association. He and his wife Judy live in Helena and have five children enrolled in college. Cindy Stergar Cindy Stergar is the Chief Executive Officer of the Montana Primary Care Association. The MPCA is dedicated to improving access to high-quality, community based, affordable primary health care in Montana. Cindy has over 20 years of experience in health care leadership, Federally Qualified Health Centers, and health policy. She is a Native of Montana Heather Zaluski, M.D. Heather Zaluski, M.D., joined Shodair Children’s Hospital staff in 2007 and now serves as the Medical Director of Psychiatry. She treats patients on the hospital’s Glacier Residential Unit and the Acute Unit. Dr. Zaluski is committed to exploring and eveloping collaborative and innovative approaches to reduce youth suicide in Montana. She is board certified in General Psychiatry as well as Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Dr. Zaluski has served on the National AACAP’s Inpatient, Residential, and Partial Hospitalization Committee since 2010.

Courageous Leadership: We Can Do This Montana’s prominent leaders serving on regulatory boards and in the legislature occupy a remarkably demanding position – and a key one – in the system the determines how health care professionals practice in our state. Legislators make our laws. Licensing Boards implement laws through regulations. This panel will explore a range of topics providing insight as to the role they play in Montana’s political system and how healthcare leaders can engage in that process. Representative Mary Caferro (D), HD81 Mary Caferro is a member of the Montana House of Representatives, representing District 81. She assumed office on January 7, 2019. Her current term ends on January 2, 2023 and she is running for re-election to the Montana House of Representative to represent District 82. Ms. Caferro served in the Montana State Senate from 2011 to 2019 and she previously served in the Montana House of Representative from 2005 to 2011. Representative Caferro was recognized in 2018 by the Montana Medical Association as an Award of Merit recipient for her legislative work to improve access to health care in Montana. Representative Jane Gillette (R), HD64 Jane Gillette, D.D.S., is a member of the Montana House of Representatives, representing District. She assumed office on January 4, 2021. Her current term ends on January 2, 2023, and is running for re-election to the Montana House of Reprsentatives to continue representing District 64. Dr. Gillette is a U.S. Air Force veteran serving from 1999 to 2013. She earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Pacific Lutheran University in 1995, a doctorate in dental surgery from University of Washington in 2002, and a master’s degree in public health from the University of Montana is 2018. Dr. Gillette’s is currently a researcher and healthcare consultant and serves on the Executive Committee of the Montana Dental Association. J. Bruce Robertson, M.D. Dr. Robertson serves on the Montana Board of Medical Examiners and has held a number of leadership and management positions with health care organizations, including two terms as President of the Montana Medical Association. Dr. Robertson was the 2013 recipient of the Doctor Jack McMahon Service to Montana Physicians for his untold effort on behalf of the Montana Medical Association and for being the keystone of the Montana Medical Associatin Health Care Plan and Trust. Dr. Robertson is a board-certified urologist who has served Southwest Montana for over 25 years. He was previously associated with Bozeman Health urology and now directs Gallatin Urology, Southwest Montana’s premier independent urology practice.
Leah Butkay, HELP Program Coordinator, Montana Medical Association (406) 443-4000, leah@mmaoffice.org Leah Butkay is the Montana Medical Association’s Member Services Manager. She has been with the MMA since 2016 where her responsibilities include membership recruitment and retention, member benefits, assisting with MMA Committees, and administration of the Healthcare Excellence in Leadership Program. Away from work, Leah is active with the Scouting of America Prickly Pear District of the Montana Council, even though both of her sons have reached the rank of Eagle.
