WELCOME WELCOME MEET YOUR WELCOME TO THE NEW 2019-2020 PREFECTS FACULTY AND STAFF For complete biographies on our new faculty and staff, click here. Deputy Head Mr. Trevor Julian has been appointed as Deputy Head of STS. Mr. Julian will work closely with our Head of School, Mrs. Carol Grant-Watt to advance strategic interests and initiatives of the School. Senior School Principal Mr. Anand Mahadevan comes to STS from the University of Toronto Schools (UTS) having demonstrated innovation and a strong dedication to educational excellence for which he has been recognized provincially and nationally. Kindergarten Mr. Andrew Greene has extensive experience as a Kindergarten teacher, having taught Kindergarten internationally since 2005. Grade 2 Ms. Vicki Wagstaff is already well-known to the STS community having previously worked in the Grade 5 – 6 Learning Community covering Mrs. Milnes’ maternity leave, and more recently, as a Grade 2 teacher. Prefects are Grade12 students elected to serve as student leaders for the entire School community. BYOD HANDBOOK We recommend that all parents and students in Grades 8 – 12 thoroughly read the BYOD Handbook which provides comprehensive support for parents and students involved in the program including detailed information on program rationale and benefits, device choice and purchase recommendations, network access and usage, student preparedness and responsibilities, IT service and support, as well as acceptable use and security considerations. If you have questions regarding the BYOD program, please contact byod@sts.ab.ca. BYOD CHECKLIST TECHNOLOGY Recommendations before school begins (Grades 8 – 12): Discuss with your child, the functionality requirements and applications in which they are interested for their primary device.
