Founder and CEO, Homeless Not Toothless
In 1992, Los Angeles dentist Dr. Jay Grossman founded Homeless Not Toothless, a nonprofit
organization dedicated to providing desperately needed, free, quality dental care for the homeless,
foster youth, veterans, and other underserved groups in the greater Los Angeles community.
From that time to the present, Homeless Not Toothless has provided free dental care for more
than 60,000 people. Equally notable is the example Dr. Grossman has set for other dentists, who
have been inspired by his commitment to incorporate philanthropic work into their own practices,
resulting in more than $5 million in donated services to date. Along with providing free dental care,
Dr. Grossman has worked to empower the homeless and other underserved groups to regain their
dignity and reenter the workforce.
For extraordinary humanitarian efforts on behalf of improved health and well-being for the homeless
and other vulnerable groups in Los Angeles, New York University College of Dentistry is proud to
honor its distinguished alumnus, Dr. Jay Grossman, ’88, and the Homeless Not Toothless organization,
