6-week SMART Goal Challenge A re you ready to make some new goals for fall? Let us help you get started by making them SMART goals! SMART stands for: Sustainable, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Timely. This brand new, six-week program we are offering allows you to work with a personal trainer once a week as well as attend two classes of your choice, every week. In addition, you will also receive a body composition analysis as well as diet and weight tracking. To get started, you will meet with a certified trainer to create a personalized program. If you are still wondering where to begin or just need a little guidance, this program is for you. The benefits of having a regular exercise routine include strength, toned muscles, weight management and flexibility. Although the program is structured for weight loss and strength building, you will also experience the rewards that create lifelong fitness. In fact, studies show that exercise not only lowers the risk for life threatening diseases, but also combats depression, anxiety and stress. The road to fitness is a journey, not a race and it takes time to get rid of old habits and start new ones. We want to help you find sustainable reasons to be healthy. If you stick to the guidelines, you can lose weight. However, the real goal of the program is to not only get you to your goals, but to keep you going down the fitness path by creating healthy habits to last a lifetime. By now you probably know that crash diets and the too-good-to-be-true scams do not work. The only true way to get fit and stay fit is by creating a routine that you enjoy. So, let’s make a healthy, sustainable and fun plan, for your life. The program includes one-on-one guidance from one of our certified personal trainers whom you will meet with in the gym once a week. In addition, you will also receive access to two fitness classes weekly, taught by our trainers and fitness professionals at the Golden Community Center. Options for classes range anywhere from dance and aerobics-based, to boot camp and weight lifting. Trainers will also help keep you on track by monitoring your diet. This will be your personalized plan just for you. If one of your goals is to lose weight, you will be asked to chart everything you eat to keep you on track to lose an average of 1-2 lbs. per week. A full body composition analysis is provided at your first meeting. Look for more information on our registration page https://rec.cityofgolden.net under Wellness & Fitness. Registration is limited so sign up soon! 4 Fall 2018/Winter 2019 · rec.cityofgolden.net

In 2015, Golden City Council awarded an $800,000 contract to Team Pain to redesign the skate park into a state-of-the-art facility. Work began in May 2016 and by December of that year, the park was ready to welcome skaters of all ages and skill levels. The region is taking notice! Westword Magazine named Ulysses Skate Park the best skate park in the Denver metro area for 2017. The Ulysses Sports Complex also features an off-leash dog park, five baseball fields, a fitness loop, restrooms, soccer fields, and beautiful views. City of Golden Recreation Dept is proud to present SuperTots Sports for Kids! Since 2002, SuperTots engages kids, ages 2 to 5, in physical activity in a non- competitive environment that is safe and fun above all else. SuperTots knows kids are hardwired to learn through play and need to devote time and energy to recreation activities. For that reason, we’ve designed an engaging, skill-building curriculum in which “tots” learn through a series of fun and beneficial games. They will acquire athletic skills and fitness but also develop an interest and love of sports.
