General Regulations BIJORHCA JEWELLERY AWARDS

These regulations and the documents comprising the Competition application pack are available at

ARTICLE 1: SUBJECT - GENERAL INFORMATION
The “BIJORHCA JEWELLERY AWARDS”, hereinafter referred to as the “Competition” is organised by
Reed Expositions France (registered on the Nanterre 4 Companies Register under number 10 219 364),
52-54 Quai de Dion Bouton 92800 Puteaux, France and is open to everyone meeting the conditions set
out in Article 2. This Competition is held in partnership with 3J Création, the French Society for the
Protection of Birds, Bermudes and Wacom, hereinafter referred to as the “Partners”.
The Competition seeks to promote the jewellery-making profession on a specific theme - the birds of
Metropolitan France - and prizes will be awarded for the most creative and innovative entry.
Participation in this Competition implies irrevocable, unreserved acceptance of these regulations.
The Competition offers four prizes under the conditions set out below.

ARTICLE 2: ELIGIBILITY OF ENTRANTS
The Competition is open to anyone with an interest in jewellery or jewellery-making, as well as
students on jewellery-making and design courses, or those studying design, applied arts, plastic arts or
graphic arts, as well as up-and-coming freelance or staff designers.
It is open to individuals over the age of 18. Only one entry per person is allowed. Failure to respect this
condition will result in disqualification. A Participant may only submit a single application.
Under no circumstances may Participants enter under several pseudonyms or on behalf of other
people. The organiser reserves the right to carry out any necessary checks on participants’ identities
and postal addresses. Participation in the Competition in any form other than that set out in Article 3
of these regulations, or any inaccurate or incomplete entry will not be taken into consideration and
will be disqualified. The same sanction will be applied to any entry made in contravention of these
regulations. Company officers, employees and service providers of Reed Expositions France and the
Competition Partners, or any of their respective subsidiaries, or members of their family are excluded
from the Competition.

ARTICLE 3: SUBJECT OF THE COMPETITION AND HOW TO TAKE PART
Entry is free. Participants in the Competition must submit their full application by email to
awards@bijorhca.com by 15 December 2018. Any incomplete entry or entry sent after this deadline,
or in any form other than that described here, will be disqualified.
The application must contain the following documents:
- the entry form - giving an overview of the jewellery design concept plus a detailed description of the
materials used and any stones used (name of stones, size, carat, etc.) - duly completed, dated and
signed,
- the sketches, designs, 3D simulations of the project submitted by the applicant with a front and side
view,
The model to be submitted must be a design sketched on paper or using 3D computer software, of an
item of jewellery (necklace, pendant, bracelet, ring, earrings, brooch, etc.) on the theme of the birds
of Metropolitan France.
Entrants shall swear on their honour that they are the sole creator of the item of jewellery in the
application and that they are the holder of the intellectual property rights over the design.

ARTICLE 4: PRIZE
First prize in the Competition will be:
- the production of a single version of the item, by the Bermudes workshops
- a Wacom Cintiq Pro 13’’ tablet worth €1,099 incl. VAT.
- a PENTAX digital reflex camera (PENTAX KP + optical viewfinder worth €1300)

The second and third prize-winners in the Competition will receive:
- a Wacom Intuos M tablet worth €200 incl. VAT
The top 10 entrants will receive VIP invitations to BIJORHCA PARIS in January 2019 and to the
evening event on Sunday 20 January 2019.
The “People’s Choice” prize will be:
- a Wacom Intuos Draw tablet worth €79.90 incl. VAT
- a 360° camera (RICOH THETA SC) worth €229 incl. VAT

ARTICLE 5: CRITERIA FOR ASSESSMENT OF ENTRIES
The following key criteria will be taken into account by members of the jury in awarding the prizes:
- How well the entry reflects the competition specifications,
- How well the entry reflects the theme: the Birds of Metropolitan France
- Originality of design,
- Attention to detail in the descriptive text,
- Quality of visuals, including finish and presentation,
- Technical knowledge.

ARTICLE 6: SHORTLISTING OF DESIGNS AND WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

6.1 The judging panel
The Competition judging panel comprises a representative from the French Society for the Protection
of Birds and renowned professionals from the jewellery and design world:
- Dominique Muller, Bermudes Jewellery
- Caroline Gondy, Wacom
- Patrick Koune, 3J Création
- Émilie Gobert, French Society for the Protection of Birds
- Aude Leperre, Director of BIJORHCA PARIS
- Ollivier Savelli, High jewellery & luxury watches in Geneva and recipient of the Best Craftsperson in
  France award (Jewellery - Precious Metals category)
- Christelle SantaBarbara, Black Phenix and recipient of the Best Craftsperson in France award
  (Ready-to-Wear Designer Evening Wear category)
- Elizabeth Leriche, Artistic Director of the design consultancy of the same name

6.2 People’s vote
Designs respecting the eligibility criteria described in Article 3 and submitted prior to the deadline of
midnight on 15 December 2018 will then be put to a public vote on the Made In Création platform
www.madeincreation.com, from 16 December 2018 to 20 January 2019 at noon.

6.3 Shortlisting of designs
The judging panel will meet during the week beginning 17 December 2018 at the latest to select:
- The ten best entries,
- The three prize-winners.
The choice will be made after consideration of all applications. The judging panel’s decision on the ten
best entries and the award of prizes will be final and not subject to appeal.
Consequently, no claims will be accepted following the announcement of the winners.
6.4 Communication & visibility of the selected entrants
The name of the selected entrants will be announced by 14 January 2019 at the latest. Their full names,
as well as extracts from their application (text, designs, sketches, etc.) may be used by Reed Expositions
France and the Competition Partners in communications related to the competition and particularly
to announce the selected entries. Such communication may be made on all forms of media (press,
internet, radio, etc.). The organiser also reserves the right to make corrections to the entrant’s written
text.

6.4 People’s vote
Public voting on the on-line Made in Création platform will take place from 16 December 2018 to
midday on 20 January 2019. The entrant receiving the highest number of votes will receive the
“People’s Choice” award. The People’s Choice will feature in communications from the Bijorhca show
and the Partners, and will benefit from a certain visibility as a result.

6.6 Announcement of prize-winners
An official announcement will be organised at the BIJORHCA PARIS evening event planned for 20
January 2019 where the winners will be invited to receive their prizes.
The prizes awarded may not be transferred or converted into cash, or payable by bank transfer.

6.6 Production
One version of the jewellery design which wins 1st prize will be manufactured by Bermudes, in
collaboration with the prize-winner, after the BIJORHCA PARIS jewellery show in January 2019.
Bermudes reserves the right to adapt them if necessary.

6.7 Display
The winning item will be displayed at BIJORHCA PARIS in September 2019.

6.8 Auction and distribution of profits
After the winning item has been displayed at the BIJORHCA PARIS jewellery show in September 2019,
it will be put up for auction in aid of the French Society for the Protection of Birds. The fixed costs of
the manufacturer, Bermudes, will be deducted from the sum raised.

ARTICLE 7: PRIZE-WINNERS’ OBLIGATIONS
The top ten entrants selected and the winner of the “People’s Choice” prize must be available on 20
January 2019 for the awards presentation. They will be liable for their own transport and
accommodation costs.

ARTICLE 8: INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS OF THE PARTICIPANTS AND ASSIGNMENT OF RIGHTS
8.1 Any participant who enters his or her project into this Competition certifies and guarantees that
he or she is the sole originator of the project, that the project is legally available and is not subject, in
any way at all, in part or in total, directly or indirectly, to any third-party rights and that it does not
contravene directly or indirectly any third party rights. The participant must ensure that all sketches,
drawings or graphic representations are royalty free. The Participant guarantees Reed Expositions
France and the Competition Partners against any claims, particularly in relation to intellectual property
rights and copyright which apply to the project.
The participant declares that he or she has not sold or conceded intellectual property rights attached
to his or her project.
The participants authorise Reed Expositions France and the Competition Partners to publish, as part of
the information and communications related to the Competition, their full name and the description
they provided of their piece, renouncing any claim on their part to any right to remuneration
whatsoever.
The participants authorise Reed Expositions France and the Competition Partners to use, free of
charge: images and photos, sketches, drawings, 3D simulations etc. of their piece as well as to
reproduce and represent - for the lifetime of the rights concerned, free of charge and in any territory
- the submitted piece, in the communication tools of the Competition and/or of the Bijorhca Show
(website, show catalogue, invitation cards, visitors’ map, promotional video, press, social networks,
television programmes... but not limited to this list), in the communication tools of the Competition
Partners, as well as in all advertising and marketing materials. To this end, Reed Expositions France and
the Competition Partners can, among others, produce all copies, graphic representations and
photographs of submitted and/or prizewinning projects, as well as of their originators, provided the
names of the project originators are mentioned.

8.2 On winning 1st prize the winning candidate assigns, free of charge, to Reed Expositions France all
intellectual property rights, artistic or industrial, in particular reproduction, representation and
adaptation rights, over the piece submitted to the competition. The piece submitted by the
Competition Winner will become the exclusive property of Reed Expositions France as soon as it is
made.
At the same time as intellectual property rights are transferred, the documents which support it, mock-
ups, sketches, plans, illustrations and all elements of the creative process, will become the property of
Reed Expositions France.
The planned assignment is effective for the duration of the protection of the intellectual , artistic and
industrial property, in France and abroad.
This assignment includes in particular the right of Reed Expositions France to have the piece which
wins 1st prize manufactured by the Bermudes company and to sell it by auction.

Article 9: MODIFICATION OR CANCELLATION OF THE COMPETITION
Reed Expositions France reserves the right to shorten, extend, modify or cancel the current
Competition, without this giving rise to any claim by or on behalf of the participants. Reed Expositions
France cannot be held liable as a consequence of this for any reason whatsoever.
The participant assumes all risks associated with the possibility of the Competition not being held,
including sole responsibility for the expenses said applicant has incurred in entering the Competition.

ARTICLE 10: PERSONAL DATA
The personal information gathered in the Competition entry form is recorded in a computerised file,
by Reed Expositions France (52 Quai de Dion Bouton, 92800, Puteaux, France). The information is
necessary for candidates to enter the Competition and for every use which conforms with the Reed
Expositions France Privacy Policy.
The form indicates which items of personal data must be provided. Without this data, Reed Expositions
France will not be in a position to satisfy the demand of entrants.
This personal information is stored as long as is necessary for the entrants’ participation in the
Competition and to meet their requirements.
In accordance with the European Regulations for the protection of personal data (EU) 2016/679 -GDPR
and other data protection law, the entrants have the right to access, challenge, erase and correct their
personal information, which they can exercise by contacting Reed Expositions France at the following
email address: vosdroits@reedexpo.fr.

ARTICLE 11: AMENDMENTS TO THE RULES/INDIVISIBILITY
Reed Expositions France reserves the right to make a decision on all cases not provided for in these
rules and to make new provisions whenever the organiser deems this necessary to ensure the smooth
running of the Competition.
The invalidity, for whatever reason, of all or part of the provisions of these rules will not affect in any
way the remaining provisions of the rules.

ARTICLE 13: DISPUTES/STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS
In the event of a dispute, for whatever cause, entrants agree to submit their claim to Reed Expositions
France, prior to initiating any proceedings, in a letter sent by registered post with acknowledgement
of receipt. Any action undertaken before a period of 15 days has elapsed following receipt of said letter
will be deemed inadmissible.
Pursuant to Article 2254 of the French Civil Code, the parties agree to set at one year (1 year) the
deadline for the statute of limitations for claims and actions relating to the liability that the Organiser
may incur either as a result of its own actions, those of an employee or those of a third party, regardless
of the cause. This period will commence as soon as the 15-day period referenced in the preceding
paragraph has elapsed.

RELATIONS BETWEEN THE PARTICIPANTS AND THE ORGANISER ARE COMPLETELY AND EXCLUSIVELY
GOVERNED BY FRENCH LAW.

IN THE EVENT OF DISPUTE, THE COMMERCIAL COURT OF NANTERRE SHALL HAVE SOLE
JURISDICTION.
