The Montresso* Foundation is a singular place because of the support and trust it creates with resident artists; but also a space for dialogue and meeting with collectors, journalists, amateurs and professionals of the art world.
COLLECTION OF CONTEMPORARY ART 1 981 The Montresso* foundation was born of an unparalleled commit- ment from its founder Jean-Louis Haguenauer to many artists for over thirty years. The Montresso* Foundation has so far a large collection of contemporary art voluntarily heteroclite, inherited from the successive interests of its founder. Important pieces stand alongside the works of young contemporary artists and ar- tists in residence. MONTRESSO* THE IMPETUS 20 0 6 The Montresso* Foundation had the opportunity in 2006 to ac- quire an abandoned olive grove twenty kilometers from Mar- rakesh. The founder sees his ambition set, creating a setting where he offers residents the means to realize a personal project to as- sert themselves as visual artists, through a long-term support. JARDIN ROUGE CALL FOR APPLICATIONS The artist subbmit to the foundation a personal project that he wishes to develop, specifying its content and form. The artistic committee of the foundation then selects the future resident artists (painting, sculpture, photography, installation) who will be invited to stay at Jardin Rouge for a ARTISTS minimum of one month. Thus, up to six visual artists at once are accommo- dated as part of the residences. A PLACE OF PROMOTION The Montresso* team also accompanies the artist in promoting his work, putting all their energy at the service of the promotion and visibility of artistic projects. Thus, the field of investigation is not limited only to creation but extends to its diffusion by the de- velopment of events in situ as well as outside the walls. The artists residency Jardin Rouge is a meeting place between art and its amateurs. Within the so-called “helmet living room”, there are regular presentations of projects. The artists exchange, dis- cuss with collectors, answer interviews with journalists, decipher their works with art critics. The works realized within the residence of artists Jardin Rouge are proposed to the acquisition of the Friends of the Montresso* Foundation, an international network of collectors, thus allowing the retribution of the artist and the financing of the residences and projects outside the walls. It will eventually be presented in the heart of a dedicated space. The contemporary art space organizes guided tours every Friday and Saturday by appointment at info@montresso.com. In 2019, the venue will open to the public in a lasting way thanks to new spaces that will facilitate its reception.

OFF-SITE PUBLIC SPACE To propose art in the living space of the city is a bias. Appreciating the space in a new pictorial dimension as a place of contemplation and ques- tioning is a social and educational issue. Bringing a stone to the building BIENNALS of the performative and public artistic tradition of Morocco is a will. In the continuity of these narrated stories, the Montresso* Foundation offers the FESTIVALS viewer to seize another poetry, sculptural, pictorial, ephemeral or monu- mental. In 2016, the mural of Hendrik Beikirch was erected in front of the MEETINGS station ONCF in Marrakesh, marking the will of the foundation to register its action outside the walls in the heart of the ocher city. PARTNERSHIPS AND INTERNATIONAL EVENTS The Montresso* Foundation is also involved alongside institutional and associative partners in major off-site projects. It establishes partnerships with foreign galleries and participates in many international events, pro- viding support and visibility to the artists it believes in (Biennials, Fairs, Festivals). In 2016, the Montresso* Foundation participated in the Marrakech Bien- nial and the Dakar Biennale. In spring 2017, the foundation had the ho- nor to present the exhibition Presence Commune in the Mohammed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMVI) of Rabat, at the invi- tation of the National Foundation of the Museum of Morocco (FNM) . In partnership with the city of Marrakesh, the French Institute of Marrakesh (IFM) and Awaln’Art, Jardin Rouge unveiled at the same time the project Tmcha fel Medina during which the artist Jace from Reunion invested the ocher city to think a artistic route in the Medina. The Montresso* Foundation has also supported the Trait d’Union Asso- ciation for Disability in a charity auction. She also participated in the re- novation and the creation of a library at the school of the nearby village, Oulad Bouzid, in collaboration with the Kitabi association which strives for schools in rural areas.
