Greater Manchester Training Hub (GMTH) March 2021 Newsletter – Events, Training and Funding Offers The overall core GMTH offer is: • To support the development of effective learning environments resulting in an increase in student placements. • To assist in the development of the workforce by supporting and embedding new roles. • To ensure access to suitably trained mentors and supervisors for all clinical roles. • To support the commissioning of consistent, nationally recognised training that, in turn, will facilitate career progression. The Greater Manchester Training Hub (GMTH) in collaboration with the Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership (GMHSCP) are pleased to invite you to our first webinar detailing the General Practice Nurse fellowship. General Practice Nursing, the first line of defence for the NHS is a unique career opportunity which we are proud to support and develop. The Fellowship offers a funded CPD session for 2 years to enable you to focus on your professional development. You will be part of a GM wide support network with access to a named mentor and clinical supervision. Join us for our webinar for more information. 30th March 2021, 4pm – 5.30pm For Employers including Clinical Directors of Primary Care Networks or Federations and Practice Managers. 20th April 2021, 12pm – 1.30pm For Nurses including undergraduate, newly qualified and return to practice nursing staff The general practice nurse is the corner stone to care delivery in general practice, anecdotally taking up to 5 years to develop an experienced GPN. The associated cost attached to this variable across GM, however, typically being upwards of £6000 including time away from practice to study. The Greater Manchester Training Hub (GMTH) in collaboration with the Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership (GMHSCP) we are delivering a 2-year Fellowship programme that will facilitate this development: The salary support is based on pro-rata costs and the educational element is free. Non-Medical NMP training can support role and career development by enabling Prescribing practitioners to take on greater responsibilities for managing patient care. MORE NMP enhances patient care by supporting patients’ timely access to INFORMATION treatment with medicines, enabling choice whilst helping to reduce waiting times, reduce hospital admissions and maximising the wider skills of the healthcare team. Funding is available to those interested in becoming an NMP and we can offer up to £1,500 for tuition fees. 31st March 2021 Non-Medical £1,000 for each Primary Care Network (PCN) to develop its workforce, MORE Prescribing specifically to support the growth of Non-Medical Prescribers (NMPs) across (PCN Offer) Greater Manchester. Pathway - North information West Coast ONLY You will need full support from your employing organisation, agreement to two study days per month over 12 months and agreement for one two-hour coaching session each month. This course aims: · To understand the drivers, policy context and value of research in the NHS and across the NWC Region. · To ensure the development of the knowledge, intellectual abilities and methodologies to do and lead research. · To understand how to engage and influence others to ensure the wider impact of research. · To understand the factors/dimensions that create and enable leadership in research. · Develop personal qualities and approach to be an effective researcher. · Have knowledge of the standards, requirements, and professionalism to do research. · To identify and fulfil personal development needs/learning outcomes. The programme is a 12-month course delivered over 10 days plus a coaching session each month (please see dates below in pink). The programme will embrace a blended learning approach with homework, assignments, mentoring and practical placements that will ensure that all relevant content is covered during the 12-month period. The programme is led by NHS Research and Development North West, which includes leadership coaches, organisational development experts, facilitators and a range of visiting speakers who will cover specialist topics.
