Tour departure details Departure dates: Monday, Wednesday, Friday On the day of arrival, travel from Hervey Bay to River Heads on the barge crossing of your choice, arriving at Kingfisher Bay Resort on Fraser Island (Ferry time must be selected at time of booking) On the last day of tour, depart Fraser Island at 5:00pm and return to Hervey Bay at approximately 5.50pm, followed by a courtesy drop-off to your local accommodation. When to go to Fraser Island Fraser Island is one place where fun, excitement and excellent weather are included in a visit here. Whether you are planning to go snorkelling, whale watch, explore the rainforests or simply lay beachside in the sand, you need to figure out the most ideal time for you to head over to this beautiful island. Because Fraser Island is located only 500 kilometres away from the Tropic of Capricorn, the climate consists of warm temperatures throughout the entire year. However, the average temperatures do vary depending on the season. Winter: The winter months are from May to August, when temperatures tend to range from 14-25 degrees Celsius (57-77 degrees F). These are the drier months of the year and it is less likely that you will see much rainfall if you decide to visit during this season. Summer: September through until about April the temperatures increase to around 25-30 degrees Celsius (73-86 degrees F). The most rainfall occurs between the months of January and March. It is important to be aware that because it is a subtropical climate on Fraser Island, occasional storms (sometimes severe) are always a possibility so be sure to stay up to date on current weather before heading to the island. When to go to Fraser Island based on Activities Fraser Island has a plethora of activities ready and available to all who come to visit. Depending on what you prefer to do on your holiday and the activities you are hoping to take part in, be sure to plan accordingly based on the best times throughout the year to go. Fishing: Between July and October is the absolute best time to head out to sea with the best chances great catch. The waters of Fraser Island are teeming with a variety of fish making this activity one of the top ones on the island for visitors to enjoy. Fishing tours are available to take you out where they have found July and August to be the prime fishing season based on what fish are found in the waters at that time.
Whale Watching: There is a short window of time for whale watching and it occurs between the months of July through beginning of November. You can book a cruise and head out to see the gentle giants of the sea up close and personal. If you’re lucky enough to be there at the right time, certain tours can take you out to witness the countless Humpback whales migrating towards the south. Bird Watching: If you have already spent some time in the waters and are looking for an activity on land, try bird watching from either August-March or September-April. The eastern curlew, the largest migratory wader can be seen from August-March where you can witness beautiful birds taking flight off to their next destination. Upon making a reservation with Australia & New Zealand Travel Company you will receive a booking form, which needs to be filled out and signed to confirm that you agree to the terms and conditions. 2. Your booking will then be confirmed to you in writing and you will be required to make a payment to secure your reservation. 3. At this time, you must take out travel insurance for your holiday to protect you against any unforeseen circumstances. 4. 90 days prior to departure you will be asked to make the balance payment for your trip (you will be notified if your supplier requires earlier payment). 5. 10 days prior to departure you will be sent your travel documents via email. We pay the ultimate travel providers (Suppliers) of your travel services the funds for your holiday. The Suppliers include airlines, tour operators, cruise lines, transport companies, hotels etc. We are required to pay the Suppliers deposits and final payments to secure your booking and in some instances these items are non-refundable. If you wish to cancel you must notify us of your cancellation in writing. We will then write to the Suppliers to cancel your booking and request a refund (if applicable) for any elements of your holiday that are refundable. You will need to make an insurance claim for any travel arrangements that are non- refundable. If you have any issues during the refund or cancellation process, you have 30 days to contact our office in writing to lodge a complaint so an immediate resolution can be found for you.
