WELCOME

It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to the 2022
Australian Airports Association’s (AAA) biennial OPS SWAP Forum
at the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth.

We have all missed the opportunities to network, share ideas and hear about the
latest industry developments and the AAA OPS SWAP Forum will be a welcome
occasion for the airport community to come together again.

This year’s program incorporates plenary sessions and panel discussions
which focus on specific and detailed operational issues, and for the first time
an exhibition space.

This Forum is the only event of this nature held in Australia and is an invaluable
opportunity for you to engage with industry professionals, colleagues and friends.

I look forward to catching up with you all throughout the next three days.

James Goodwin
Chief Executive
Australian Airports Association

MEET OUR MC

Todd Chapman is the principal of Leading Edge Management
Consulting and works with organisations who need support and
expertise going through complex change and transformation. Todd
leverages proven systems and personal skills honed in
more than 25 years of working in senior roles within
Australia’s most successful airlines.
In all of his assignments, the constant was the need for fundamental
transformation. Despite this constant, the challenges were highly variable,
the business units were dynamic and the operation was relentless.

Solutions came in the areas of safety management system implementation,
compliance and governance frameworks, digitisation, mergers and acquisitions,
outsourcing, contractor management and rectifying team culture.

However despite this diversity of solutions, Todd always found that to make the fix
genuine, it always involved two things; developing great people to be great leaders and
embedding quality systems to drive business discipline. And it is this philosophy and people
centred passion that underpins the approach with Leading Edge Consulting.

Jimmy Maitland, General Manager/Director Sales Southern Asia Pacific Region,
                       ADB Safegate
With the aviation recovery now underway, the question is where do you want to
                       recover to?
                       • Post pandemic airport recovery depends on how airports and airlines can tackle
volatility in an affordable way, without sacrificing safety and efficiency.
                       • The pandemic forced the acceleration of technology adaption, and a rethink of
how it is best utilised. How can airports benefit from these advances?
                       • How can elasticity provide airports with future adaptability, flexibility and

David Eldridge, RIAA Director and Technical Committee Member, Roadmarking
                       Industry Association of Australia
The Roadmarking Industry Association of Australia represents contractors and
suppliers involved in pavement marking of carparks, warehouses, roads, and
aerodromes. The RIAA has developed a series of guides for members, specifiers
and clients summarising the appropriate legislation, standards, specifications, and
                       materials for various facilities.

This paper introduces the RIAA to the Australian Airports Association and provides

                       PERFORMANCE ASPHALT
Trevor Diston, Technical and Marketing Manager, COLAS
                       • The use of secondary waste with a proven performance history can reduce the
demand for non-renewable raw materials to produce asphalt
                       • Asphalt mixes can be designed and produced using repurposed secondary
