'And they call it Rimini': Concert at the square on the water
Rimini Jazz Club presents an exclusive concert for the Piazza on the water: Two of Oz or Sara Jane Ghiotti, voice
and Emilio Marinelli, piano, Special guest Marco Frattini.
The project aims to "reveal" to the listener the secret life of the musical's songs.
Harmonic refinement and melodic refinement are hidden behind the apparent ease of listening to these famous
songs and, the contemporary sound with which they are presented, helps the viewer to "break away from the
easygoing listening" that often accompanies the catchy melodies like “Do, re, mi” from The sound of Music or
“Money” by Cabaret.

Amintore Galli Theater: Aroldo

Opera by Giuseppe Verdi
Aroldo, the opera by Giuseppe Verdi performed for the first time on 16 August 1857 to inaugurate the "New
Theater of Rimini", returns to the Galli theatre on 27 and 29 August 2021 in a production that sees the historic
theater of the city as the first producer together with other theaters of the Emilia Romagna Region.
A work with a strong symbolic value, which marked the beginning of that 'first act' in the history of the Rimini
theater then interrupted by the bombings of the Second World War, and which today presents itself as an
opportunity to point the spotlight on the great live show again, after the prolonged period of forced closure due to
the pandemic.
A new beginning therefore for the Lyric season of the city, proposing the opera for which the Maestro from
Busseto decided to spend more than a month in Rimini, in company of Francesco Piave, Giuseppina Strepponi
and Angelo Mariani, maintaining relationships with intellectuals, music lovers and an adoring citizenship. At its
debut at the Teatro Nuovo it had a success well told by the chronicles of the time.EVENTI

What will be presented to the public in the new staging is an unusual “Aroldo”, with a reinterpretation in a current
key. To emphasize the production of the melodrama is the involvement of important artists such as the conductor
Manlio Benzi on the podium of the Luigi Cherubini Orchestra and the Choir of the Municipal Theater of Piacenza.
Set designer Edoardo Sanchi signs the direction and dramaturgy of the performance that in its conception also
intends to reflect the history of the Rimini theater.
Dress rehearsal are scheduled on 25 August.

Meeting for friendship among peoples: The courage to say "I"
An international event, a crossroad of testimonies and experiences of different cultural origins: a lively and unique
event on the world scene, it deals with crucial issues, in free and open dialogue among the most interesting
personalities of culture, politics and faith.
The forty-second edition returns to the Rimini Fair district, in strict compliance with the rules for the prevention of
the spread of Coronavirus. At the same time, the digital infrastructure will be enhanced (around 3 million people
connected online last edition) with the app, the Youtube channel and the television broadcasters of the media
partners SkyTg and Avvenire, and newspapers, from Corriere Tv to Tv2000.
Essentiality, simplicity and synthesis. These are the characteristic features of the 2021 edition of the Rimini
Meeting in continuity with the visual and communicative flexibility of the 2020 Special Edition. With the title "The
courage to say I", this new edition becomess an invitation to rediscover the consistency and greatness of one's
life so that through responsibility, dialogue and creativity it becomes ever more full and fruitful.
This year edition will be inaugurated by Sergio Mattarella, President of the Italian Republic.
Every night, shows in Rimini’s historical centre (Arena Spettacoli SGR - Piazza Tre Martiri). On the stage Uto
Ughi, the best known Italian virtuoso of violin, who will inaugurate the 42nd edition of the Meeting with his Uto
Ughi and Friends Orchestra (Friday 20 August at 21.30) and Federico Mecozzi, who, despite his young age, will
show the public his skill as a musician, composer and arranger (Sunday 22 August at 21.30). These shows would
be available on payment. Tickets can be purchased on the www.vivaticket.com platform. On Sunday 22nd and
Monday 23rd August in the “Corte degli Agostiniani” (Rimini old town) the screening of films will be proposed.

On the last night, 25 August, presented by Lorenzo Baglioni, the winners of the Meeting Music Contest - the
music contest addressed to all music artists and bands, in partnership with the Mei-Meetings of Faenza’s
independent labels - will be announced.
Twelve are the exhibitions set up in the halls of Rimini expo centre. Visits to exhibitions, including guided tours,
are free. Free admission also for the exhibition “The hand of the artist and the human effigy. Contemporary Italian
Sculpture" hosted in the PART - Palazzi dell'Arte Rimini (Rimini Art Palaces) in Piazza Cavour. The opening hours
are the same as those of the museum.

Santarcangelo '80 Revisited

Photographic exhibition on the cultural and creative effervescence of the Santarcangelo Festival in the early
eighties
At the Galleria dell'Immagine in Rimini, the historical partner city of the Santarcangelo Festival, the photographic
retrospective Santarcangelo '80 Revisited. The exhibition rearranges the historic exhibition inaugurated in Rimini
in 1981 right in the spaces of the Image Gallery, curated by Uliano Lucas and is enriched by unpublished
materials from the archives of the artists and the Museum.
In 1980, six talented Italian photojournalists were commissioned to produce a photojournalistic report on the
Santarcangelo Festival, which since its birth has become an eccentric, effervescent phenomenon not only
theatrical but also an expression of social behavior and counterculture experiences, an all-round investigation on
the shows, the audience and the atmosphere that permeated that season.
Uliano Lucas says: "It was an intoxicating collective party, an explosion of creativity and desire to communicate,
the one in which I found myself immersed in July 1980 together with five other photographers - Carla Cerati, Mario
Dondero, Maurizio Bizziccari, Maurizio Buscarino, Gian Butturini.
"A multi-handed, funny and passionate story, to be rediscovered fifty years later as an unusual testimony of a
particularly happy moment for Italian theater and photography".
The resultant is the fresco of a time and an unrepeatable era in its excesses and innovations.

Aroldo, the opera by Giuseppe Verdi performed for the first time on 16 August 1857 to inaugurate the "New
Theater of Rimini", returns to the Galli theatre on 27 and 29 August 2021 in a production that sees the historic
theater of the city as the first producer together with other theaters of the Emilia Romagna Region.
A work with a strong symbolic value, which marked the beginning of that 'first act' in the history of the Rimini
theater then interrupted by the bombings of the Second World War, and which today presents itself as an

A new beginning therefore for the Lyric season of the city, proposing the opera for which the Maestro from
Busseto decided to spend more than a month in Rimini, in company of Francesco Piave, Giuseppina Strepponi
and Angelo Mariani, maintaining relationships with intellectuals, music lovers and an adoring citizenship. At its
debut at the Teatro Nuovo it had a success well told by the chronicles of the time.
What will be presented to the public in the new staging is an unusual “Aroldo”, with a reinterpretation in a current
key. To emphasize the production of the melodrama is the involvement of important artists such as the conductor
Manlio Benzi on the podium of the Luigi Cherubini Orchestra and the Choir of the Municipal Theater of Piacenza.
Set designer Edoardo Sanchi signs the direction and dramaturgy of the performance that in its conception also
intends to reflect the history of the Rimini theater.
Dress rehearsal are scheduled on 25 August.

Exhibition of ancient art at the City Museum, curated by Massimo Pulini
The exhibition of ancient art, curated by Massimo Pulini, gives you the chance to admire unique works for quality
and refinement. Emerged from the international antiquarian scene and investigated from a historical and
philological point of view, they represent real unveiled jewels: Benedetto Gennari (1633-1715) with the Madonna
and child for the court of England (from 7 May to 13 June); Simone Cantarini (1612-1648), The rediscovered
portrait of Alessandro Tassoni (18 June - 31 August) and finally Guido Reni (1575-1642) with Landscape with
Cupids (from 10 September to 31 October).
Due to their historical importance and their provenance from important collecting contexts, these works are
deeply linked to the events of our artistic culture.
The Unicum project owes its name to the choice to exhibit a single work in the Manica Lunga, on the first floor of
the City Museum.
The single paintings will therefore take turns occupying the 'scenic' space set up by the Cumo Mori Roversi
architecture studio in 2020 for the exhibition of the Madonna Diotallevi, a youthful masterpiece by Raphael,
unfortunately penalized by the imposed closures due to Covid19.
The subtitle is 'Racconti al Museo' (Stories at the Museum), since the paintings proposed by the exhibition trigger
historical, artistic and biographical narratives of particular interest and curiosity. Their narrative potential, for which
they were chosen, has the ability to fertilize and enrich the city museum of Rimini in an open dialogue with the
other works on display and in particular with the seventeenth century.

As part of the Unicum exhibition, the painting Tassoni's portrait by Simone Cantarini is on show at the City
Museum till the end of August.
The artist, known as Simone il Pesarese, restless and rebellious pupil of the painter Guido Reni, is one of the
greatest exponents of seventeenth-century classicism. Cantarini possessed a talent that he showed in recognized
interpretative qualities, whether he addressed to great religious themes or he devoted himself to portraits.
According to the curator Massimo Pulini, the painting on show appears to be the one which was mostly influenced
by the school of Guido Reni.

Demonstration of the Rimini maritime tradition
The initiative is an opportunity to discover the sea traditions of Rimini through a re-enactment of the fishing
technique 'La Tratta'.
This "poor" fishing techniquethat was in use fon the coast rom ancient time until the 1950s.
This kind of fishing will be proposed in a practical demonstration with the aim to keep alive the local tradition and
discover the ancient fishing in the Adriatic sea, which has always been a main resource for the seafarer
population in Rimini.
After the fishing demonstration, at 6.30pm there will be a tasting of grilled fish, cooked according to the ancient
local tradition, accompanied by 'piada' and white wine.
