A LETTER FROM RALPH HANSEN OF THE PEGASUS MARKETING GROUP We are pleased to announce that Pegasus Marketing Group is the exclusive marketing agency for Eddie Sachs Racing. ESR is an established yet historic team featuring a rich racing heritage. Founder Eddie Sachs Jr. and his teammates will continue to participate in the USAC Silver Crown Series, while developing their open wheel Indy car for racing in the Indianapolis 500. Eddie Jr.’s commitment to furthering the careers of talented drivers and growing the sport is evident in the well-oiled team he has mentored. The extended ESR team includes CEO Eddie Sachs Jr., CFO Ted Sachs, President Danny Redkey, Marketing Manager Ricky Raducha, PR Executive Steve Zautke, Driver Davey Ray and many other strong contributors. Eddie and Davey share a racing heritage unlike any other. Davey is a third-generation driver from Davenport, Iowa, who comes from the short track old school much like his heroes before him. Eddie, following in the tradition of his father, two-time Indianapolis 500 pole-sitter Eddie Sachs, brought Davey on board as a key member of his Indy 500 team. Growing up in his father’s garage learning how to weld, machine and fabricate, Davey is one of the few drivers who knows the ins and outs of assembling and setting up cars. In 2016, Davey ran a selected Midget schedule picking up four wins and competing in the USAC Silver Crown series with car owner, Eddie Sachs. As part of Eddie Sachs Racing, Davey plans to continue his successful career in open wheel ranks while pursuing the next level in motorsports competition. The team, which has already scored a few top 10 finishes together, is currently seeking sponsorship opportunities for the upcoming 2017 season. ESR plans to run cars from the Trans Am Series. Eddie’s ACTIVE cars are Silver Crown, the original throwbacks to the glory days of Indy racing and a tribute to the Eddie Sachs Sr. era. The team’s busy racing and test schedule began in April and will conclude in September. We will continue to keep you updated on Eddie Sachs Racing’s progress throughout the 2017 racing season. The fan base already following these legends is huge, and we expect very strong sponsor interest. We would like you to consider becoming a part of our team, and we thank you for the opportunity to make this introduction to you.
EDDIE SACHS RACING THE BEGINNING Established in 2007, Eddie Sachs Racing is owned and operated by Eddie Sachs Jr. The son of the legendary “Clown Prince of Racing,” Eddie spent his lifetime in and around motorsports. His extensive motor sports resume includes NASCAR, IICS, IRL, NHRA, ASA, USAC and SCORE. With a successful racing career behind him, Eddie has turned in the driver’s suit to pursue the dream of team ownership. With a full line-up of cars already in the garage, Eddie plans to build a program to reach out to all the fans of racing — from grass roots neighborhood tracks all the way to IZOD Indy Car Series. His commitment to excellence is inherited from his lineage, as well his exposure to the many giants of auto racing. Big names like Parnelli Jones and Roger Penske can be linked to Eddie’s vast motor sports network. In 2014, Eddie Sachs Racing (ESR) teamed up with Davey Ray to challenge the top-quality teams and drivers of the USAC Silver Crown Championship Series. DAVEY RAY — EDDIE SACHS’ MOST COMMITED DRIVER Davey Ray has been hustling the short tracks throughout the U.S. since he started his own racing career at the age of 11. With 38 career wins, a Badger Midget Championship, and several International Championship titles, Ray has proven his talent in the Midget car ranks, and continues to chase wins in the Sprint Car and Silver Crown car series. Ray’s father, Dave, was a Midget racer who made a name for himself competing with the Badger Midget and USAC series in the ’70’s and ’80’s. His mother, Debbie, also grew up around racing as one of eight daughters and three sons to 4-time Badger Midget car owner Champion, John Heisdorf. It was no surprise that Davey followed the family racing tradition. He won multiple go-kart championships and over 200 feature wins, proving he was ready to take his career to the next level. Davey, a third-generation driver from Davenport, Iowa, grew up in his father’s garage learning how to weld, machine and fabricate, and is one of the few drivers who knows the ins-and-outs of assembling and setting up the cars. The 5’4” bantamweight driver comes from the short track old school, like his heroes before him. Ray plans to continue his success in the open wheel ranks while striving to move to the next level in motorsports competition. In 2017, Ray will focus on a select Midget and Sprint car schedule with USAC and some local shows in Indiana. Ray and Eddie Sachs Racing will again compete full time with the USAC National Silver Crown Series.
All ABOUT THE CAR THE TA2 ESR HAS FORMED A WORKING ALLIANCE WITH NWR TO FIELD A TA2 CAR. Formed in 2006 and achieving much success in its tenure in the Atlantic Series, Newman Wachs Racing (NWR) is a racing team based outside of Chicago, in Mundelein, Illinois. The team is owned by Eddie Wachs and, until his death, actor and racer, Paul Newman. Newman and Wachs met competing in the Can-Am Series in the mid-1970s and raced together for 15 years in Trans-Am, Can-Am and many other SCCA professional venues. Over the years, they discussed creating a driver-development race team together. In NWR’s first year, they assembled a Champ Car Atlantic team. By 2009, driver John Edwards had won the championship for NWR, beating teammate Jonathan Summerton in a tiebreaker. The TA2 racecar is a purpose-built racing machine designed, built and tuned with only one thing in mind— performance. With engines restricted to just under 500 horsepower, longevity is promoted without sacrificing performance. While the TA2 racecar is built on a cost-effective platform, it still produces speeds that are more than capable of raising eyebrows. TA2 has reinvigorated road racing in North America. These iconic performance machines, relevant from the track to the show room floor, have attracted drivers in droves, quadrupling the class in 2012 and setting record race attendances. They’ve put on shows of consistent side-by-side racing while continuing to break their own track records and maintaining their cost-controlled approach.
The Power of Trans Am Racing What is The Power of Trans Am Racing? Often called a racer’s dream, many of the greatest names in motorsports have raced in the Trans Am series. Trans Am drivers are determined to test the boundaries of man and machine. That’s because Trans Am cars offer the purest, most effective, forms of racing in North America. Capable of overtaking cars with quadruple the budget, Trans Am cars remain the kings of grand touring in North America. The roar of 850+ horsepower engines, the thrill of the chase and awe of side-by-side racing — that’s the Trans Am Racing series. Fans love to meet the drivers and see the cars up close and personal. Trans Am Audience and Reach 2016 was the 50th anniversary of the longest running road racing series in North America, the Trans Am Road Racing Series held its first races in 1966. Since its inception, the world’s greatest racecar manufacturers have held epic battles for the crown of Trans Am Champion. Fans, too, have passed down their devotion to the sport from generation to generation. Because of this, teams and drivers competing in Trans Am racing have consistently been able to attract top-tier partners to assist with their racing efforts.
EDDIE SACHS SR. THE CLOWN PRINCE OF RACING Eddie Sachs (May 28, 1927 – May 30, 1964) was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and was a United States Auto Club driver known as the “Clown Prince of Auto Racing.” He coined the phrase “If you can’t win, be spectacular.” Career highlights include: • 8 USAC Championship Trail wins • 25 top-five finishes in 65 career AAA and USAC starts, including the 1958 USAC Midwest Sprint Car Championship • 8-time starter of the Indianapolis 500, 1957–64, winning the pole position in 1960 and 1961, with his best finish being second in 1961. Leading the race with only three laps to go, he saw his right rear tire begin to delaminate so he pitted, handing victory to A.J. Foyt. Sachs never regretted his decision not to gamble on the tire, saying, “I’d sooner finish second than be dead.” In 1964, Eddie Sachs Sr. and racer Dave MacDonald were killed in a fiery crash involving seven cars on the second lap of the Indianapolis 500. It was a day the racing world would never forget. Eddie Sachs Jr., the son of this two-time Indianapolis 500 pole-sitter Eddie Sachs, has hopes to someday put together a Verizon IndyCar Series program for the Indianapolis 500 to honor his father. Sachs currently fields a Silver Crown team with the USAC series competing nationally with driver, Davey Ray. “I think of Indianapolis every day of the year, every hour of the day, and when I sleep, too. Everything I ever wanted in my life, I found inside the walls of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. I love it all, from the first to the last day in May. On the morning of the race, if you told me my house had burned down, I’d say, “So what?” The moment that race starts is always the greatest moment of my life, and the day I win that race, it will be as if my life has ended. There is nothing more I could want out of life.” - Eddie Sachs Sr.

The Man Behind the Curtain. The guy that gets all the blame when something goes wrong and very little of the glory when things go right. You’d be hard pressed to find an owner as humble and honest as Eddie Sachs Jr., someone content to sit on the sidelines as his team gets recognized for its performance. A true class act, he knows how to keep us motivated when the day doesn’t seem to go our way and he will go beyond the extra mile to make this team successful. His place in this world goes beyond the glass ceiling...and Eddie, your team is here with that oxygen tank! The Road to INDY LOOKING FORWARD Goal: Long term, Eddie hopes to honor his father by someday fielding a car in the Indy 500. As a step toward this prodigious goal, ESR hopes to put together an Indy Lights program for the Freedom 100 at IMS. In order for both of these programs to come together, the team needs to locate additional partnerships to put the final pieces in place. About the Indy Lights Series: The Mazda Road to Indy is the only driver development program in the world to feature a champion’s scholarship at every level to advance to the next step on the ladder system. The Indy Lights champion is awarded a $1 million scholarship toward the Verizon IndyCar Series with three guaranteed races, including the Indianapolis 500. Team and driver prize packages total more than $1.9 million. The highly acclaimed series, which has a rich history as a development platform for many of today’s top drivers, was transformed in 2015 with the introduction of a new equipment package to complement the arrival of Cooper Tires as the Official Tire of Indy Lights and presenting sponsor in 2014. The Dallara IL-15 is a collaboration between Dallara’s Italian headquarters in Varano Melegari (Parma) and Dallara LLC in Speedway, Indiana. The new car offers a modern, stylish appearance and provides the proper training required for drivers as the final step on the ladder to the Verizon IndyCar Series. The chassis is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged Mazda MZR-R engine. Developed in conjunction with Advanced Engine Research (AER), the MZR-R was first campaigned by Mazda in the American Le Mans Series and Mazda customer teams in the European Le Mans Series. The engine enjoyed several milestone victories including Mazda’s first-ever major success in North American sports car racing and the 2011 LMP1 engine manufacturers championship. The engine, further developed by AER, will produce 450 horsepower and last an entire season without a rebuild. Spencer Pigot of Juncos Racing won this year’s championship and $1 million scholarship. He will advance to the Verizon IndyCar Series in 2016 driving for Ed Carpenter Racing. HISTORY: Indy Lights has produced some of the Verizon IndyCar Series’ biggest names during its 28-year history. Its 100+ graduates include Marco Andretti, Helio Castroneves, Scott Dixon and Tony Kanaan. More recently, several Indy Lights champions and front-runners have gone on to pursue their dream of racing in the IndyCar Series and the famed Indianapolis 500. Among them are 2015 champion Spencer Pigot, 2014 champion Gabby Chaves, 2013 champion Sage Karam, 2012 champion Tristan Vautier, 2011 champion Josef Newgarden, 2010 title runner-up James Hinchcliffe, 2010 fourth-place finisher Charlie Kimball and 2009 champion JR Hildebrand.
The Road to INDY LOOKING FORWARD SCHEDULE: Indy Lights will see an expanded schedule of 18 races in 2018 with the addition of three new circuits – Phoenix International Raceway, Road America and the Streets of Boston. The blend of three ovals, three street circuit and five road course events will include doubleheader rounds at all street and road course venues with the exception of the Boston race. A new qualifying feature – the Cooper Tires Lightning Round – will also debut at select circuits next year and will feature the top three drivers from qualifying in a one-lap shootout on a new, softer compound Cooper RS3 racing slick for the coveted Cooper Tires Pole Award. All but one event will be in support of the Verizon IndyCar Series. The season finale for all three Mazda Road to Indy ladder series will take place at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in September. The focal point in the 2018 schedule will be the month of May at Indianapolis. The Grand Prix of Indianapolis, which proved popular with fans and racers alike during its inaugural running in 2014, will continue to feature all three Mazda Road to Indy series at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course. Two weeks later, the crown jewel of the Indy Lights season – the Freedom 100 – will continue to be the traditional 100-mile race on Carb Day at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval. TELEVISION: Indy Lights will continue to enjoy one-hour race broadcasts on NBCSN as well as live broadcasts on IMS Radio Network, Sirius XM Satellite Radio, indycar.com, indycarradio.com and the INDYCAR app from Verizon. ESPN International holds the international broadcast rights with races airing in Canada, Colombia, Mexico and Australia, amongst others. All races will feature live streaming on indycar.com, usf2000.com and the RoadtoIndy.TV App, including pre- and post-race coverage of the shows. Additional coverage, such as post-race press conferences and special events, will be streamed on the series website and the RoadtoIndy.TV App. The popular RoadToIndy.TV will continue to provide behind-the-scenes access to all competitors on the Mazda Road to Indy. CARS: New state-of-the-art single-seat, open-wheel, Indy car-style chassis manufactured by Dallara Automobili complete with paddle shifters, push-to-pass and safety components meeting INDYCAR and FIA standards. ENGINES: 2.0-liter turbocharged Mazda MZR-R developed in conjunction with Advanced Engine Research (AER) producing 450 HP with 50 HP push-to-pass for high speed overtaking and capable of running an entire season without a rebuild.

IN THE NEWS THEN AND NOW Eddie Sachs Jr has hired Davey Ray to campaign his USAC Silver Crown Dirt Car in 2016. Davey will also pilot Eddie’s USAC Silver Crown Pavement car in select events. During the pre-race festivities on the morning of the 100th Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil on May 29, 2016, Rich MacDonald (Dave’s son, left), Sherry MacDonald (Dave’s widow), and Edward Sachs III pose for a photo near the impact point of the 1964 crash, near the road course entrance.
Q and A An interview with Eddie Sachs Jr. — his life in racing, future and famous racing legacy. Describe the team’s similarities and background in racing? Eddie Sachs Jr. tried his hand at racing early on with some success, running stock cars before moving on to Midgets and Sprints. He rose to become a championship Midget driver and winner of the “Down Under” series in Australia and New Zealand for three consecutive years. Yet his mother never approved of his racing, and eventually his funding ran out. That’s when he went to work for the Speedway in public relations and marketing. Eventually, the racing bug returned, and he formed his own Silver Crown team, letting others do the driving while managing the operation. The team, which he revamped this year, will run both the dirt and pavement schedules with Iowan Davey Ray handling the driving chores. Both Eddie and Davey are racing legacies. Besides the late, great, Eddie Sachs Sr., who is your hero? Eddie’s hero and mentor was Roger Penske. He looked up to Roger not only as a racer but as a surrogate father figure. Who is the ESR team’s top collective list of all-time great modern era racers? It is hard to choose one driver over the other, but because of passion and what they’ve brought to the sport of motor racing, here’s our list of the greatest drivers of the modern era, which we are defining from 1960 to present day: Ayrton Senna, Lewis Hamilton, A.J. Foyt, Mark Donohue, Jackie Stewart, Sebastian Loeb, Dale Earnhardt, Richard Petty, Alex Zanardi, Bobby and Al Unser, Willy T. Ribbs, Roger Penske, Tom Sneva, Paul Newman, Mario and Michael Andretti. How has competition changed over the years? Called “The Clown Prince of Racing”, Eddie’s father was a big personality and racer, but he also was neck in neck with all the big names of the day, including A.J. Foyt, Parnelli Jones, Rodger Ward, Jim Hurtebise and Johnny Thompson. One of them would win and they would fight like tigers to get the next big win. Eddie Sr. was a strategic and aggressive man, a true competitor. Nothing has changed in today’s racing world except the actual competition. It is the same as it always was...the bigger the loss, the bigger the resolve. Winning can be addictive, so watch out racing world! It has been said that Eddie Sr., never meet a microphone he didn’t like, he was a media darling. Was he one the first reality stars? It’s true. There was no one like him. Being a star meant more because stardom was more limited in those days. Eddie Sr. became a media favorite, and gained a lot of press by knowing how to interact with fans and have fun with the press. A real people person and a great talent, he relished connecting with audiences. — Ted
Q and A Eddie, you were extremely young child when your father died. Since you are following in his footsteps does it bother you to be constantly reminded of that infamous tragic day? Eddie Senior was everyone’s favorite racer to be around and with, so I am told. 2014 was a milestone year, it has been 50 years and some thought the anniversary should be celebrated,” Sachs Jr. says. “I tend to feel now that maybe we should simply remember the Antragedy, interview move on,with Eddie and work Sachs towards Junior. running His the whole want us to do same, so that is what we are doing ” lifecoming series in racing, in 2018. Ifuture and befamous know he would racing focusing on the 500 legacy. and would During the 100 Indy anniversary, you meet up with Sherry McDonald, Dave MacDonald’s widow, and his son, Rich. Was this your first time at the sight since the infamous crash? I had never meet Sherry prior, so this was a good opportunity to meet her and remember our connection and heritage in racing 50 years later. I like to think I am a compassionate person, keeping the spirit and dreams alive of those who came before us and paying homage to the sacrifices they made. In this case, it was my father who made the ultimate sacrifice, but both of their deaths led to a safer and better racing world. And yes, this was my first time at the exact sight. Rich MacDonald was a couple years older than me at the time, so he had a better perspective than me. Still, we have a common bond unlike any other. Ted Sachs knew your father, any lasting impressions? Yes. I saw Eddie Sr. race six or seven times in my childhood. Having the same name, I introduced myself to him in 1960. He gave me an autograph which I gifted to Eddie Jr. several years ago. His name is on the Speedway plaque as a hall of fame for the 500, even though he never won. That’s because he played a big part in what makes the Speedway what it is today. The Hulman-George family, owners of the Speedway, know this. In a way, he is everyone’s father. —Ted Eddie Sr., had a larger than life attitude both in his personality and as a driver? Is this still true today and with the ESR Team? Even his death was larger than life, but his personality and love for what he did and for the fans made him the standout on top of being a great track race personality. No one since comes close to connecting the public to the racetrack, and that is why Ralph of Pegasus Marketing sees all the likes and hits to this day on his social media. Eddie Sr. also drove all types of cars, including stock cars and sports cars, very similar to Davey Ray’s background with racing. Both drivers are and were good sports car racers. Eddie Sr. was a USAC stock car winner, if not champ, back before Nascar was more than a regional group of Southeast bootleggers. USAC had more prestige at the time through Nascar specialized in stock cars. There is an Eddie Sachs Sr., an Eddie Sachs Jr., a Teddy Sachs, and an Eddie Wachs all connected to your Silver Crown Team, any confusion? It is funny. Eddie Sr. would have had a blast with it, and we still include him as part of the team. You can call us Sachs-Wachs-Sachs, E3 n T, or Eddie, Eddie, Eddie and Teddy. Others get us confused, but we don’t. Coincidentally, Ted Sachs is completely unrelated to the Eddies. We are however, looking for a sponsor named Eddie. Much about EDR’s philosophy is similar to Eddie Sachs Sr.’s. Is there a reason why? Back in the day, the game was to run second to five, then sprint to win. Eddie’s dad was always in the five and always pushed to win at the end. Back then reliability was less and driver talent meant more. A racer could “will” his way to win. But long story short, we have a will to win.” — Ted Mario Andretti and other greats were fans and competitors of your father, what are some of the things they remember? I was two in 1964, so much of what I know about my father has come from a constant stream of fans who often tell me what my father meant to them. Mario Andretti is just one of those Sachs touched. Andretti had approached the elder Sachs in the pits at Trenton in the late ‘50s and told him in broken English he had been impressed by Sachs’s drives in Italy. “He really embraced me, made me feel at ease,” Andretti recalls. “I never forgot that about Eddie. He was a real ambassador for the sport and made an instant fan out of me.” What is your unique technique to win? We’re doing this old school, the old-fashioned way, says Sachs Jr., I live in the Detroit area and work in the auto industry, calling on major manufacturers and Tier One suppliers. “Silver Crown is a stepping stone to the Speedway. We’re gaining recognition through our efforts to be competitive and the response has been pretty positive. I don’t mean winning the first race, but qualifying and putting yourself in a position to be respectable. I don’t want to come here and be an also-ran.” How has safety changed over the years in racing? Safety advances in racing have, with a few exceptions, come as the result of tragic consequences. Five-point safety harnesses, fuel cells, on-board fire extinguishers, purpose-built racing seats, soft wall technology and head and neck restraints were all solutions to dangers exposed by racing conditions. When you go back in the history of auto racing, safety has constantly evolved. In 1965, after the MacDonald-Sachs crash, cars were fueled with less volatile methanol. In the ‘60s, roll cages were added to cars. In the ‘50s, only roll bars were installed. In the ‘40s, it was simply crash helmets. Unfortunately, it takes about eight to 10 years to get a significant improvement in technology, yet these advancements are incredibly important. They save lives. There have been just four deaths at the Speedway since 1982. I am thankful my dad’s death might have been a part of a safer evolution.
