Diversity refers to the traits and characteristics that make people unique. Inclusion refers to the behaviours and social norms that ensure people feel welcome. While there are many conversations happening about diversity and inclusion in the workplace, few of them focus on sharing what companies actually do and what actions are effective. This ECR Group will consider Why & How 1. Why Diversity & Inclusion matters. 2. How are companies implementing appropriate action. Features of this Group will be … 1. Quarterly Meetings 2. Presentations from experts. NEW FOR 2021 3. 4. 5. Company updates Facilitate Networking Consider producing an ECR Ireland Report INCLUSION & DIVERSITY GROUP highlighting current practices from Irish retail & CPG companies.
Assessing needs & expectations of ECR Sustainability Group o With lots of national and industry level sustainability targets and guidelines it'd be great to try to answer a few questions: o Are businesses listening / what makes them listen most - is it government guidelines, industry requirements (eg Bord Bia), pressure from supply chain partners, pressure from consumers? o Is the information and action getting to the right people - is sustainability still a CSR project or is action now being led by operations and strategic teams? o What are the highest priority areas? There's lots involved here from energy use through water use, sourcing and transport to waste - do businesses know what the lowest MARCH 31 hanging fruit is for them? o Where can collaboration make this easier? Targets for each business are all well and good but to achieve sustained change and arguably the most cost effective / efficient change there needs to be collaboration through the chain. The Sustainability Group will have 1. Quarterly Meetings NEW FOR 2021 2. 3. Presentations from experts – Irish + international Company updates SUSTAINABILITY GROUP 4. 5. Facilitate Networking Consider producing an ECR Ireland Report highlighting current practices from Irish retail & CPG companies.

The ECR mission is one of collaboration and so is well positioned to help retailers, manufacturers and other stakeholders complete successful circular economy projects. The Retail and Consumer Goods sector needs to rapidly reinvent the way consumer products are sold. Attention needs to be given to the work being done as part of the EU Circular Economy Package, the global resource & waste management crisis and the deep transformation of consumer expectations and behaviours. The ECR Community Circular Economy Group was recently established to increase general awareness and knowledge of the circular economy in the Retail and Consumer Goods Sector. The group has hosted a series of three webinars to present the trends emerging around the EU Circular Economy Package, identify new opportunities offered by the possible “closure of the cycles” in the value chain of the products and to inspire the development of actions and strategies in partnership with the key partners of the THE ECR COMMUNITY supply chain of retailers and manufacturers, including the consumer. Check out the webinars here Further webinars and output will take place in 2021 CIRCULAR ECONOMY GROUP ensuring Irish companies stay briefed on EU legislation in this area and also hear from companies with successful circular economy related case studies. 26
