EDUCATING • EXPLORING • EXCELLING The Experience FOR GCSE & A LEVEL Earth Summit 2022 is a 2-day event that will provide students with the chance to take part in a wide-ranging examination of the factors causing climate change, the effects it is having on our world and how we all could live more sustainably at home, at school and in the community. With Glasgow Students will hear from leading experts in the field, participate in a series of engaging hosting the 2021 United workshops, meet and talk with individuals and agencies working in the fields of Nations climate change conference [COP26] and following environmentalism and sustainability and give a short presentation to the Summit the launch of the Earthshot Prize, the subject of climate on a relevant topic. Climate change Workshops MET Office STEM Ambassadors Like millions you probably know the MET Office best for the weather forecasts that you hear on the news or read on your phones. But that’s not all they do. Through their Education Outreach programme they hope to inspire and engage young people in weather and climate, highlight the real-world applications of STEM subjects and help students make informed decisions about their future. At the Earth Summit 2022, the MET Office will invite you to journey with them into 2050, where they will be using data to code our climate futures. The Blair Project The Blair Project’s workshop is a brainstorming session to expose young people aged to the development and innovation within green technology. By showing students some of the current advancements in green technology, this will allow students to cultivate their own innovative ideas to support Manchester’s goal of a zero-carbon future. The Blair Project is a trailblazing social enterprise, which empowers young people from all backgrounds to become future leaders and innovators of sustainable solutions. Using motorsport as the vehicle, The Blair Project engages young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in STEM and the green technology revolution. Octopus Energy's Centre for Net Zero Your individual carbon footprint and its impact on the climate crisis The workshop will introduce students to the concepts of Net Zero and the energy transition. Students will be given instruction on how o use a basic web-based modelling interface that enables them to investigate the time, cost and equity impacts of different combinations of policy and investment choices designed to achieve decarbonisation. They will discuss their findings in small groups and then take part in a vote between different options. National Grid Academy National Grid is committed to responding to climate change and making lasting changes in order to reduce our emissions. The decarbonisation of the energy system is one of the biggest challenges facing us, and we have a critical role to play in the acceleration towards a cleaner future.
