 MET Office STEM Ambassadors
Like millions you probably know the MET Office best for the weather forecasts that you hear
on the news or read on your phones. But that’s not all they do. Through their Education
Outreach programme they hope to inspire and engage young people in weather and climate,
highlight the real-world applications of STEM subjects and help students make informed
decisions about their future. At the Earth Summit 2022, the MET Office will invite you to journey
with them into 2050, where they will be using data to code our climate futures.

 The Blair Project
The Blair Project’s workshop is a brainstorming session to expose young people aged to the
development and innovation within green technology. By showing students some of the current
advancements in green technology, this will allow students to cultivate their own innovative ideas
to support Manchester’s goal of a zero-carbon future.

The Blair Project is a trailblazing social enterprise, which empowers young people from all
backgrounds to become future leaders and innovators of sustainable solutions. Using motorsport
as the vehicle, The Blair Project engages young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in STEM
 and the green technology revolution.

Octopus Energy's Centre for Net Zero
Your individual carbon footprint and its impact on the climate crisis
The workshop will introduce students to the concepts of Net Zero and the energy transition.
Students will be given instruction on how o use a basic web-based modelling interface that
enables them to investigate the time, cost and equity impacts of different combinations of policy
and investment choices designed to achieve decarbonisation. They will discuss their findings in
small groups and then take part in a vote between different options.

 National Grid Academy
National Grid is committed to responding to climate change and making lasting changes in
order to reduce our emissions. The decarbonisation of the energy system is one of the biggest
challenges facing us, and we have a critical role to play in the acceleration towards a cleaner future.
They are committed to achieving Net Zero emissions for our own carbon footprint and focused
on reducing these to as close to zero as possible by 2050.
