The aWAREness Weekend
Spencer Ware's Sports Camp
Ages 8-16
Sickle Cell aWAREness Foundation founder
Spencer Ware is currently a running back for the
Indianapolis Colts. Originally from Cincinnati,
Ohio, Spencer attended and played football at
Sharonville Princeton High School.
Spencer was a highly touted high school recruit as
he went on to play college football for LSU. Few
know that Spencer also play some games for the
LSU college baseball team. During his career at
LSU, Spencer became a second-team ALL-SEC
selection. That same year he became an SEC
Champion, as the LSU Bulldogs defeated the
Georgia Bulldogs.
Foregoing his senior season at LSU, Spencer was
a sixth round selection in the 2013 NFL Draft by
the Seattle Seahawks. Towards the end of his
rookie season Spencer was signed in free agency
by the Kansas City (KC) Chiefs, his current home.
In his third season for the Chiefs Spencer had
been given his calling card.
With Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles being
injured, Spencer was made the starting running
back for the 2016 season. Spencer capitalized by
having a pro-bowl callable year. In 14 starts
Spencer ran for 921 years, had 3 rushing
touchdowns and also caught 33 passes for 447
yards with 2 receiving touchdowns.
Fo(r) What It's Worth, as Spencer always says, he
uses this time off the field to give back to
communities. For example, Spencer treated The
children from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater
Cincinnati to a 'Special Kids Day' (pictured right)!
In the last few seasons Spencer has continued to
be philanthropic, attending many charity events
including a leukemia event in KC last year as well
as multiple visits to Mercy Children's Hospital.
Through all his charity work Spencer's heart has
always been stronger for one certain cause that
Saturday, June 1 affected him personally his entire life: Sickle Cell
Disease (SCD). That is why in 2017 Spencer
7:00 am registration created the Sickle Cell aWAREness Foundation. 8:00 am camp (stadium, baseball fields, softball Spencer also created his own clothing line Yes field) Lawd, which happens to give a portion of its sales 12:00 pm lunch back to his foundation. Spencer is excited to give 2:00 pm celebrity basketball game arena back through his foundation in 2018 and beyond! Cardiovascular Endurance at Evendale
This year in Physical Education, our intermediate students (Grades 3-5) have worked hard to improve
their cardiovascular endurance! As part of each class, we jog a few minutes and gradually build upon it
over the course of the year. We start our first running challenge in the fall, which is 5 minutes, where
students try to jog the entire time without stopping or walking, and each month we add another minute to
the challenge! It is always amazing to see the looks on their faces at the beginning of the year when I tell
them that we will work our way up to 12 minutes! Along the way, we work on breathing, positive self-talk,
and perseverance, and each month I am filled with pride, as the students conquer not only the running
challenge, but their personal goals! Many of our students made it all the way to the 12 minute challenge,
and a few even chose to go beyond that and made it to 15! CONGRATULATIONS to all who persevered!

You did not wake up today to be mediocre!The Go Local Playground Project WOW! Laura Cooley took Principal Jennings’ pinterest collection of sensory paths and designed not one, but TWO sensory pathways. One of them is double sided so two students at a time can play! We are grateful for Crossroads Church and Laura and her team of five, along with Amy & Kezia Stephens, Connie Donnelly, Angie Carrigan, Andre Jennings and Tracy Jennings. Sylvia even came out and painted before and after working in her classroom! For the primary grades- take your class out for a Brain Break! And the United States Map! Now, that was fun! May Fete Here’s a quote from one of our students “This was the best May Fete EVER!” When asked why, he said “because it was outside!” We aim to please our students. It appears we have succeeded!
Don't Miss Out! This is a wonderful opportunity that will expose the students of The Princeton School District to the world of STEAM. I myself have reached out and recommended this program to one of the parents of a 5th grade student. She is interested in becoming a Criminologist. She loves watching NCIS Los Angeles, Law & Order, and Chicago PD among many different forensic television shows. She was also nominated to participate in the National Youth Leadership Forum Pathways to STEM, an Envision program held at Bowling Green State University and the University of Pittsburgh.
ABC Countdown at Glendale Tuesday was twin day at Glendale. To our surprise we have a lot of twins in the building! Glendale's Most Outstanding ESL Students The following students were recognized for ESL Achievement by Ms. Choi and Ms. Cameron: Dayana, Sofia, Emy, Ashly, Brian, Dayana, Mirna, Neydi, Jason, Idena, Dominic, Naima and Edwin. The students celebrated by enjoying some good conversation and snacks together. We are proud of their hard work and accomplishments.
Art With Ms. Stephens
First and fourth grade students at Glendale had a "Look-See-Do" visit from the Cincinnati Art Museum.
First graders warmed up with a little "art yoga" before seeing reproductions of artworks from the museum
and creating their own paper mosaic pattern tile. Fourth graders learned about how artists use angles
and shape in artworks as they saw reproductions and created an origami collage. Thank you to Principal
Jennings for obtaining the grant that made these visits possible for our students.

Field Day Fun Heritage Hill students had a perfect day for field day! Mrs. Sonnek captured the fun at her fun station.
Inspire by GE GE Hispanic and African American Forum had an assembly and inspired Heritage Hill students to dream big. All students participated in building a model airplane and had fun flying them through the classroom. We love our partnership with GE!

Kindergarten Celebration
We held our Kindergarten Celebration on Wednesday afternoon. Students sang songs and received
certificates for all their hard work. Parents and families came in to celebrate with the. Congratulations to
all our or kindergarten students!Fifth Grade Celebration Fifth grade students were celebrated on Wednesday evening for their hard work. Students were celebrated for their academic achievements. Daronce Daniels spoke to the students about working hard and living up to their legacy. We are sending our fifth graders to the middle school ready to show what they are capable of!
4th Grade Zoo Overnight Fourth grade students enjoyed spending the night at the Cincinnati Zoo on Thursday, May 24. Students participated in an evening hike through the zoo, participated in animal encounters, went behind the scenes at the bird house and manatee springs. Students also learned about the zoo’s conservation program. After waking up on Friday, students enjoyed another animal encounter and enjoyed the zoo unil it was time to go.Thanks to the Cincinnati Zoo for making this experience possible. Field Day Friday, May 24 was Field Day. Students participated in various games and skills activities. Kona Ice and the Woodlawn Fire Department were also there. Everyone had a great time!

Kelly McDonald and Angela OwensField Day Springdale Elementary had our Field Day on Friday, May 25 with many fun activities that took place both outside and inside. Students had fun field activities such as competing in sack races, sponge tosses, and flip the hula hoop. Inside fun consisted of rock painting, Minute to Win It games, scooter bowling, and snow cones. It was a day filled with lots of fun. We want to thank all of our great parent and community volunteers that make days like this possible and so much fun!
Talent Show Springdale held its first annual talent show on May 25 with great success! Students as well as some staff members showcased their various talents, such as singing, dancing, comedy, and instrumental skills. Thank you to all staff and students for all your hard work and dedication. A special thank you to the families who came out to support their students!
Reading and Writing in Action Mrs. Quick’s reading class did a Reader’s Theatre on the last day of class to act out books that they’ve read! They wrote their scripts, assigned each other parts and created actions for their characters. Ms. Nelson’s class came to be their audience. Great job students!

If your son or daughter failed a core class this school year, or during their high school career and needs
to make it up, he or she needs to sign up for summer school. Summer school registration is open until
May 31. If you are not sure if your child needs summer school or if you're not sure what class they should
take over summer school, please reach out to your grade level counselor:

PHS Overdue Library Books All Library books not returned after locker clean out last week have been presumed lost and entered as an obligation. If you have these items, please return them to the Front desk or your student’s secretary. We would rather have the book back than try to replace it! Princeton NJROTC Navy JROTC Basic Leadership Training, Ohio National Guard Base, Camp Sherman, Chillicothe, Ohio; 9-13 June 2019. Princeton will sent 10 cadets and both NJROTC instructors will participate. Navy JROTC Leadership Academy, Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, Illinois; 10-15 June 2019. Princeton will send 2 cadets, Rachel Henry and Jonathan Helton to participate in the this upper echelon summer camp.
