DATES: Entry Deadline: Thursday, January 6, 2022 before 11:59pm Adjustment Deadline: Tuesday, January 11, 2022 before 11:59pm (entries refundable until here) Fees Due: Friday, January 14, 2022 – by start of session TECHNICAL MEETING: Coaches’ Technical meeting will be held on Friday, January 14, 2022 at 3:45pm by the clerk of course. HOSTED BY: Edmonton Keyano Swim Club FACILITY: Kinsmen Sport Centre, 9100 Walterdale Hill NW, Edmonton, Alberta, T6E 2V3 Two, 8 Lane, 25-metre pools with Omega Electronic Timing System with three, 50m lane warm up/cool down space. FACILITY RULES: Swimmers under 8 years old who have never completed a sanctioned race will be required to complete a safety swim test with a lifeguard before entering the pool for warm-ups and racing. Proof of sanctioned results will be generated automatically by the meet management using the Time Validation report from Swimming Canada. Coaches will be given an opportunity to prove missing sanctioned results for any swimmers flagged for the safety swim test. DECK ACCESS: Only participating swimmers, coaches and officials working that session will be permitted on the pool deck and in the facility locker rooms. Photographers will only be permitted on the pool deck at the discretion and approval of the Meet Manager. SANCTION: This meet is sanctioned by Swim Alberta. RULES: The meet will be conducted under published FINA and/or IPC rules and regulations supplemented by published and approved Swimming Canada and Swim Alberta rules and regulations. In addition, this meet package shall outline all changes to and specific application of the published rules. Swim Alberta policies and procedures, where appropriate will also apply. DIVING: Starts will be conducted from Starting Platforms (blocks) as per FINA FR 2.3 and SW 4.1. Starts will be conducted from the Deck or Bulkhead as per Canadian Facility Rule CFR 2.3.1 and CSW 4.1.1. COMPETITION READINESS: Entry to competition is limited to participants who have passed Swim Alberta’s Competition Swim Test. During competition, swimmers should dive at the Dive Readiness Progression skill level they have achieved. SAFESPORT: All interactions between an athlete and an individual who is in a position of trust should normally, and wherever possible, be in an environment or space that is both “open” and “observable” to others. ELIGIBILITY: This competition is open to all swimmers currently registered with Swimming Canada or a FINA affiliated club. ENTRY PROCESS: All entries must be submitted through the Swimming Canada online system. Deck entries will be limited to swimmers who have registered for the competition through the Swimming Canada online system. Deck entries will be accepted as exhibition swims, only if the entry does not create a new heat. MEET LIMIT: Maximum of 700 swimmers will be accepted (the meet will run with a minimum of 150 swimmers).
ENTRY LIMIT: Swimmers are limited to 9 individual events, plus all relays. Swimmers must meet the entry standard in order to enter the 200 Breast, 200 Fly, 400 IM, 400 Free, 800 Free or 1500 Free. No-time (NT) entries will not be accepted. Please provide an estimated entry time, as necessary. ENTRY STANDARDS: Standards are for SCM. LCM conversions are allowed. This is not a novice competition; all 12&under swimmers should be able to complete any 50m event they enter in under 1:10. EKSC reserves the right to enter swimmers slower than the Entry Standards below. Deck Entries will be charged double the regular entry fee. SCRATCH DEADLINES: The Swim Alberta Scratch rule will be in effect for this competition with the following exceptions: Saturday & Sunday Finals: Due at the conclusion of the last event of the prelims on the same day LATE SCRATCHES: Scratches prior to the start of the competition will be accepted by email to entries@eksc.com. Friday Prelims: Due Thursday at 5:00pm Saturday & Sunday Prelims: Due at the conclusion of the previous night’s finals session As a courtesy we request that coaches declare any known no-shows to the clerk of the course 30 minutes prior to the start of the session. POSITIVE CHECK-IN: Swimmers in Timed Final events (400Fr/400IM/800Fr/1500Fr) must positively check-in at the Clerk of Course before 15min following the start of warm-ups for the session in which the event is scheduled. Swimmers in events where the fastest heat is scheduled for finals will have 3 options: “swim as seeded”, “swim in the AM only”, or “scratch”. There is no penalty for swimmers who do not check-in. Failure to check-in will be deemed a scratch. Once checked-in a swimmer is not entitled to scratch the event. No shows, step downs and unexcused incomplete swims in positive check-in events will result in the swimmer being scratched from all remaining events, except relays, scheduled for that day. NO SHOWS, There is no penalty for no shows in prelims, nor for swimmers 10&under at any time. STEP DOWNS: In Finals, no shows, step downs & unexcused incomplete swims will be scratched from all remaining events for the session except relay swims. There is no penalty for missed relays, however, please make every effort to scratch unnecessary relay entries.
WARM-UPS: Two Dive and Two Pace lanes will open for the last 20 minutes of the posted warm-ups. MEET FORMAT: This is an open invitational competition. DISTANCE: Meet management reserves the right to double lane all but the fastest heat of 800 and 1500 Free. Swimmers may not enter both the 800 and 1500 Free. 10 & UNDER: There will be a 10&under A Final for 50m events only. 10&unders may enter any 12&under event (qualifying times still apply in applicable events) and are eligible for Finals as 12&under. TIMED FINALS: 11&over Timed Final events will run as follows: The 800 Free and 1500 Free will be broken into 12&under, 13-14yo and 15&over for results, and will be senior seeded, fastest to slowest. The fastest 8 are guaranteed to swim one per lane. The 400 Free will be broken into 12&under, 13-14yo and 15&over for results, and will be senior seeded, fastest to slowest, except for the fastest 8 per gender, per age group will swim in Finals. The 400 IM will be broken into 12&under, 13-14yo and 15&over for results, and will be senior seeded, fastest to slowest. The fastest 8 overall per gender will swim in Finals. PRELIMS: Prelims (excluding Timed Final events) will be swum senior seeded, by gender, slowest to fastest. 10&under 50m events will run separately from the 11&over 50m events. FINALS: A Finals only. Age Groups for 50m Finals: 10&under, 11-12yo, 13-14yo, 15&over. Age Groups for 100m & 200m Finals: 12&under, 13-14yo, 15&over. SESSION MANAGEMENT: Meet management reserves the right to limit entries or heats due to time constraints or to alter the session start times as deemed necessary after the entry deadline. Preliminary sessions shall be divided in whole or in part into 2 pools depending on number of entries. Updates will be communicated to coaches in the technical bulletin. RELAYS: Age groups for Relay seeding and results: 10&under, 11-12yo, 13-14yo, 15&over. Relays will be seeded by age group, slowest to fastest. Coaches will receive relay cards to fill in their respective relay orders. Relay names / cards are due before the start of your relay heat. Cards are to be submitted directly to your lane timer with correct names and order. AWARDS: Awards will be available for the following: Finals Events (Including TF) Big Award for 1st and Mini-award for 2nd & 3rd, per age Relay Events Mini-award for 1st place finishers Best Times Will be eligible for draw prizes

COVID-19 Competition Safety Coordinator: Chris Nelson Type of Competition: Invitational – Heats & Finals Under Swim Alberta’s current competition health measures, 12&older swimmers will require proof of vaccination, negative test (within 72hrs of entry) or a medical exemption. 11&under swimmers will not require any documentation to enter the facility or competition. Facility Access Requirements: Everyone 12 years of age or older must present proof of vaccination status at the building entry points. This process is implemented by the City of Edmonton and matches the Restriction Exemption Program requirements of Alberta Health, the Kinsmen Sports Centre, and the Edmonton Keyano Swim Club. The Edmonton Keyano Swim Club and the City of Edmonton – Kinsmen Sport Centre are operating under the Covid-19 Restriction Exemption Program. See further details at www.alberta.ca. Event Access Requirements: 11&under swimmers do not require any documentation to enter the facility or competition. Age of Participants: The meet is open to participants of all ages, typically 8-17 years old. Teams shall stage between races on a specific set of bleachers. Large teams may use an entire bleacher, while smaller teams shall share bleachers while establishing team areas within the bleacher. Maximum Competition Numbers: Maximum Facility Occupancy* = 700 Total Participants = 450-550 Swimmers = 400-500 Coaches = 20-30 Officials & Volunteers = 30 Facility Staff = 10 * The maximum competition numbers may not exceed the occupancy requirements of the facility, which may be limited to a portion or percentage of the fire code capacity.
Warm-Up Requirements / Schedule / Lane Assignments: Lanes for the main warm-up will be designated prior to the start of warm-up based on number of entrants; after entries are received. Entrance / Exit: Building entry will be through Door 3 (ground level, left of main entrance). o As proof of vaccination status will be required for entry (12&older), we will prioritize entry beginning for swimmers and coaches. o Spectators and officials may enter the facility through the main entrance. Changerooms / Showers: There are no facility requirements related to specifically to changerooms or showers. Traffic Flow: There are no requirements related to traffic flow. Response for Sick Individuals: Should any participant become sick after entering the facility, they shall be immediately and safely isolated to an area without traffic for further assessment. Lifeguards shall be employed for the assessment, up to and including any necessary medical response. The latest AHS guidelines shall be consulted to ensure all rules for quarantine / isolation, contact tracing, and disinfection are followed. Disinfection Procedures: The City of Edmonton shall disinfect all shared surfaces, including bleachers, according their established Covid-19 disinfection protocols. This includes a full sanitization between sessions. Edmonton Keyano will supply anti-septic wipes and hand-sanitizer for equipment wipe downs, including plungers, electronics equipment and clerk of course equipment (pens, etc). Where paper is necessary, hand sanitizer shall be encouraged before and after each individual manipulation. Masks: All swimmers, coaches, officials and volunteers are required to wear masks as required by provincial and municipal regulations. This includes all areas of the Kinsmen Sport Centre other than the pool and shower. Masks shall be worn until a swimmer intends to enter the pool, at which point they shall enter the pool as directly as is safely possible. Announcements shall be made to remind all patrons to wear masks.
Timing: Electronics and Electronic plungers will be used during the event. Shared Equipment: See disinfection procedures. Location of Officials: Officials will be spaced out as much as reasonably possible. All officials are asked to cooperate with any measures that increase the health and safety of participants. Location of Coaches: Coaches shall stand in an area large enough for their group / cohort to approach with minimal interaction with other coaches and cohorts, especially those of another club or with 11&younger swimmers. Spectators: There are no additional restrictions on spectators. Facility Specific Requirements: There are no additional facility requirements.
