A message of thanks Event Sponsorship We would like to thank Thames Water for their generous sponsorship of our March 2021 Quarterly Network Meeting. We are very grateful for their support. Sarah Bentley, CEO Thames Water "I firmly believe that no-one should be living in circumstances where they are being abused or witnessing abuse. It’s a topic that is very close to my heart, after supporting close family members who were experiencing abuse from their stepfather, and I want to make sure we’re doing everything we can to support anyone suffering in this way. That’s why I’m particularly honoured that we’re hosting this important EIDA event, which brings together companies from across the country who are committed to tackling domestic abuse and ensuring victims of abuse can access the help and support they need. "Through the media, we’re seeing there’s been a rise in domestic violence, particularly during the pandemic, where people may have less opportunity to reach out for support while they’re following ‘stay at home’ advice. We’ve also embedded the Safe Spaces app on our website, so that anyone experiencing domestic violence could discreetly reach out for help at the touch of a button." A message from our CEO Lorraine O’Brien, CEO, EIDA Welcome to todays Quarterly Network Meeting, we are so pleased that so many of you have been able to join us for what we hope you will find is an informative session. We have a wonderful selection of speakers all of whom have unique insight they can share on today’s subject of An Inclusive Response to Domestic Abuse: The role the employer. I’d like to thank all or our speakers for their contribution and to pay a special thank you to Jess Phillips MP. She has been a huge advocate of ours and continues to support our work and encourage businesses to engage with us. Our membership growth continues at pace and you will see from todays Delegate Pack that we have a large growth in membership amongst parliamentarians. This has, in large part, been driven by Jess Phillips and Theresa May within their respective parties. Additionally, we continue to grow our EIDA Beacon Programme that we announced at our last Quarterly meeting. We are working tirelessly in the background to help drive positive change and deliver tangible benefits to our members. There are some exciting new initiatives that we will be sharing with you, and we hope that many of you will take up the opportunity to maximise how these can deliver positive outcomes across your business. Thank you once again for your membership of EIDA and for finding the time to attend today’s event. We hope you find the meeting informative and enjoyable. If you have questions after the session, please get in-touch with one of the team. Delegate Pack I Thursday 18 March 4

Message of support from Inclusive Employers Steven Copsey, Inclusion goes hand in hand with Diversity, and when thinking about domestic abuse, we need to think about the Senior Inclusion & different demographics that may also be affected and how those may be different. Diversity Consultant A lot of us know that almost 1 in 3 women and just over 1 in 10 men will be affected by domestic abuse in their lifetimes. But what else is hidden under the surface • Almost 25% of LGBT+ people experience domestic abuse. • About 50% of gay men have been in abusive relationships. • Bi women are twice as likely to have experienced an abusive relationship than straight women. • 80% of trans people have experienced abuse in their lifetimes. This is just one lens to look at domestic abuse through. There are many more: • Disability • Race & Ethnicity • Religion People who belong to different parts of these groups all experience abuse in very different ways and to vary degrees. So, let’s start looking under the surface and work together to get to the roots of these problems for different communities. Delegate Pack I Thursday 18 March 9

Support Services Nour DV – Nour is a charity which aims to tackle the silent, yet prevalent social issue of domestic violence (DV) in the Muslim community by using Islamic literature from both the Qur’an and the Prophetic teachings as a platform to refute and condemn DV. Our objectives as a charity are to open the lines of communication and facilitate the access between individuals and our team of Islamic, legal and professional advisors, so that they may receive counselling and advice which is sensitive to their faith. We also allocate clients with a caseworker to assist in their situation. We endeavour to eliminate the complacent attitude towards DV in Muslim communities by educating, creating awareness and campaigning against DV via seminars, community talks and workshops. Our final phase is to provide an aftercare package for the DV survivors and their children to include social and psychological support. Our philanthropic motivation and ambition for the outreach to victims of DV is rooted within the teachings of Islam, but Nour will be accessible for all and there will be no racial, religious or gender discrimination of DV victims. We hope that the culmination of the services that Nour provides will be a source of strength, support and solace for the survivors of DV.
