Andrew Alleyne DLP PARTICIPANTS 2022-2023 University of Minnesota Andrew Alleyne received the B.S.E from Princeton and the M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley. He is the Dean of the College of Science and Engineering at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities where he holds the Russell and Elizabeth Bennett Chair. He is a Fellow of IEEE, ASME and AAAS and was a Fulbright Fellow to the Netherlands. His research background encompasses the modeling, simulation, and implementation of control systems for complex systems and nonlinear systems. Dean College of Science and Engineering Beth Angell University of Michigan Dr. Beth Angell is Dean and Philip Fellin Collegiate Professor at the University of Michigan School of Social Work. She began her appointment on July 1, 2022, having previously served as Dean and professor of the School of Social Work at Virginia Commonwealth University since 2018. Angell also held faculty positions at the University of Chicago Crown School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice (2000-2008) and Rutgers University School of Social Work and the Institute for Health, Health Care Policy, and Aging Research (2008-2018). Andy Belser DLP PARTICIPANTS 2022-2023 University of Nebraska-Lincoln Andrew Belser is Dean of the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Belser came to Nebraska from the University of Arizona, where he was director of and professor in the School of Theatre, Film and Television and led arts and medicine initiatives. Prior to Arizona, Belser was founding director of the Arts and Design Research Incubator at Penn State, where he mentored artists, designers and scientists in interdisciplinary research initiatives. Belser was named the Penn State Laureate for 2017-2018. Dean Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts Abra Bush Indiana University Abra K. Bush, DMA, is David Henry Jacobs Bicentennial Dean and professor of music in voice at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. She has previous served in administrative roles at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, the Boston Conservatory, and the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester, and teaching appointments at Concordia College and Kenyon College. Bush earned Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees from Oberlin College Conservatory of Music and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Ohio State Dean University. Jacobs School of Music
Daniel Castro Purdue University DLP PARTICIPANTS 2022-2023 Daniel Castro joined Purdue University’s Polytechnic Institute as Dean on June 1, 2022. Castro came to Polytechnic from the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he served as professor of building construction and executive director of the professional master’s program in occupational safety and health in the College of Design. He earned a doctorate in civil engineering from Purdue in 2003 and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Universidad de Los Andes, Colombia, and a master’s degree in construction management from the University of Reading in the Dean United Kingdom. Purdue Polytechnic Institute Faye A. Chadwell Pennsylvania State University Faye A. Chadwell was appointed the Dean of University Libraries and Scholarly Communications on March 1, 2021. Prior to this appointment she had served as the Donald and Delpha Campbell University Librarian at Oregon State University and held positions at the University of Oregon Libraries as well as the University of South Carolina in Columbia. Mark Cohen DLP PARTICIPANTS 2022-2023 University of Illinois Mark S. Cohen, MD, FSSO, FACS, is Dean of the Carle Illinois College of Medicine at the University of Illinois Urbana- Champaign and Senior Vice President and Chief Academic Officer of Carle Health. He is also a Professor of Surgery and Biomedical and Translational Sciences in the Carle Illinois College of Medicine and Professor of Bioengineering in the Grainger College of Engineering at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Dean Cohen holds a B.S. degree in chemical engineering and M.D. from Washington University in St. Louis. Dean Carle Illinois College of Medicine Alberto Cuitiño Rutgers University-New Brunswick Dr. Cuitiño received a Civil Engineering degree from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, an MS degree in Applied Mathematics, and a Ph.D. in Solid Mechanics from Brown University. He joined Rutgers in 1993 and has recently served as professor & chair of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. His expertise includes pharmaceutical manufacturing, computational mechanics, and materials modeling. He has participated in several multi-university research programs supported by the government and industry. He is a Fellow of the American Society Interim Dean of Mechanical Engineers. Diane Dallis-Comentale Indiana University DLP PARTICIPANTS 2022-2023 Dean Dallis-Comentale brings a diverse portfolio of experience overseeing library services for students and faculty including Access Services, Special Collections, Archives and Manuscripts, Communications, and academic-discipline-focused departments including Area Studies, Arts and Humanities, Sciences, and Social Sciences. Diane has led transformative organizational changes. Dallis-Comentale envisioned new service models and spaces, including dynamic collaborations between the library and academic units across campus. Dean University Libraries Vicki Ellingrod University of Michigan Vicki L. Ellingrod, Pharm.D., FCCP, FACNP, is Dean and John Gideon Searle Professor of Pharmacy, University of Michigan College of Pharmacy. She serves as associate director of UM’s CTSA and her research identifies psychopharmacology genetic biomarkers and has been funded by NIMH, FDA, and industry. Dr. Ellingrod is a fellow of the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology (ACNP) and American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP). She is a scientific editor for Pharmacotherapy, the Journal of Clinical and Translational Dean Science, and DiPiro’s Pharmacotherapy a Pathophysiologic College of Pharmacy Approach.
Ingrid Fulmer DLP PARTICIPANTS 2022-2023 University of Illinois Ingrid Fulmer is the Dean of the School of Labor and Employment Relations and the Milton and Zelda Derber Professor. She is the 12th Dean of the School, and the first female to hold the position. Her research expertise is in human resource management and organizational behavior. Previously, she served as Vice Provost for Faculty Advancement and Faculty Affairs at Rutgers University and as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in the School of Management and Labor Relations at Rutgers. Fulmer is also currently serving on the Board of Governors of the Dean Academy of Management. School of Labor and Employment Relations Kimberly Griffin University of Maryland Dr. Kimberly Griffin is Dean of the College of Education and a Professor in the Higher Education, Student Affairs, and International Education Policy Program (Student Affairs Area of Specialization). She also serves as the editor of the Journal of Diversity in Higher Education. Dr. Griffin earned her doctoral degree in Higher Education and Organizational Change from UCLA, her Master's degree in Education Policy and Leadership at the University of Maryland, and her Bachelors degree from Stanford University in Psychology. Prior to completing her Dean doctoral work, Dr. Griffin worked in higher education College of Education administration, primarily focusing in the areas of diversity recruitment, admissions, and retention in undergraduate and graduate education.
David Horn DLP PARTICIPANTS 2022-2023 Ohio State University David Horn is an expert in cultural and historical studies of science and technology, with a focus on the European human sciences (anthropology, criminology, and psychiatry). He currently serves as the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. Horn is the author of two books and is completing a collection of essays on automatism, writing, and the human sciences. Horn received his bachelor’s degree from Amherst College, a master’s from the University of Michigan, and a doctorate in anthropology from the University of California, Berkeley. Dean College of Arts and Sciences Arpana Inman Rutgers University-New Brunswick Arpana G. Inman is the Dean of the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology at Rutgers University. Prior to coming to Rutgers University, she served as the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in the College of Education and Human Ecology at The Ohio State University. Previously, she served as Chair and Associate Dean for Graduate Studies at Lehigh University’s College of Education. In both prior institutions, she helped lead campus-wide initiatives that enhanced the colleges’ academic reputation, student experiences, and faculty Dean development. Jerlando F L Jackson Michigan State University DLP PARTICIPANTS 2022-2023 Prior to joining Michigan State University as Dean and MSU Foundation Professor of Education in 2022, Jerlando F L Jackson held both the Rupple-Bascom Professor of Education and Vilas Distinguished Professor of Higher Education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He also served as department chair of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis and the director and chief research scientist of Wisconsin’s Equity and Inclusion Laboratory (Wei LAB). Dean College of Education David Jenkins Ohio State University David A. Jenkins is Professor & Dean of the Ohio State University College of Social Work. He formerly served as Dean at the University of Louisville from 2016 until 2022. He began his career at Texas Christian Univ. in 1991 where he worked for 25 years. During that time, he served as an Associate Dean, Department Chair, and MSW Program Director. Much of his more recent scholarship focuses on understanding the lived experiences of individuals and family forms suffering from marginalization with specific interests in the lives of sexual minorities. Clarence Lang Pennsylvania State University DLP PARTICIPANTS 2022-2023 Dean Lang joined the Penn State from the University of Kansas, where he was Dean’s Professor in African American Studies and American Studies and Interim Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. He held several academic leadership posts at Kansas prior to being appointed Dean; he also received numerous accolades, including the Outstanding Faculty Service Award from his department and the university’s McNair Scholars Mentoring Award. He was named a distinguished lecturer by the Organization of American Historians and a “Men of Merit” Dean honoree by the Emily Taylor Center for Women and Gender. College of the Liberal Arts Keith Mays University of Minnesota Dr. Mays earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry and a General Practice Residency at the University of Michigan Hospital and Clinics. He earned a certificate and Master of Science in prosthodontics from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry and a Ph.D. from the University of Maryland Dental School. Dr. Mays is the current Immediate Past Chair for the American Dental Education Association Board of Director. He is currently the Dean of the University of Minnesota, School of Dentistry. Dylan Miner DLP PARTICIPANTS 2022-2023 Michigan State University Dylan Miner is an artist, activist, scholar, and transformational change-maker. He is Dean and Full Professor in the Residential College in the Arts and Humanities (RCAH) at Michigan State University (MSU). Miner is a founding member of the artist collective Justseeds. He has hung more than two dozen solo exhibitions, as well as participated in more than 115 group exhibitions. He has also published extensively and created graphics for numerous community organizations, social justice campaigns, and environmental organizations. Dean Residential College in the Arts and Humanities Chrystalla Mouza University of Illinois Chrystalla Mouza is Dean of the College of Education at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Previously, she served as Director and Distinguished Professor in the School of Education at the University of Delaware. Her work explores how educators learn to integrate technology with content and pedagogy to support student learning, and how technology-rich learning environments support teacher and student outcomes. Mouza’s research has been funded by NSF, Google, and the Delaware Department of Education. She published 6 books and numerous Dean peer-reviewed publications. College of Education
Sara Sanders University of Iowa DLP PARTICIPANTS 2022-2023 Sara Sanders serves as the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Sanders is a Professor in the School of Social Work and joined the University of Iowa faculty in January 2003. Sanders was awarded the Distinguished Professor Award in the School of Social Work four times and was awarded the President and Provost Award for Teaching Excellence in 2015, and was also named a Dean’s Scholar in 2011, named a fellow of the Gerontological Society of America in 2013, and named an Emerging Leader in Professional Practice by the Social Work Dean Hospice and Palliative Care Network in 2013. College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Cameron Thies Michigan State University Cameron G. Thies is Dean of James Madison College and Michigan State University Foundation Professor. Thies is a scholar of international relations who has published broadly in foreign policy analysis, conflict processes, international political economy, and international relations theory. He serves as the Deputy Lead Editor of the Journal of Politics. He has received numerous awards, including most recently the Ole R. Holsti Distinguished Scholar (2020) of the International Studies Association. Thies also served as the President of the Dean International Studies Association (2019-2020). James Madison College
Shari Veil University of Nebraska-Lincoln DLP PARTICIPANTS 2022-2023 Shari R. Veil, MBA, Ph.D., is Dean of the College of Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She oversees the strategic, programmatic, financial, fundraising, and management operations that support the mission and vision of the college and its role within the university and state. Veil also serves as a research fellow with the National Strategic Research Institute, a Department of Defense-designated University Affiliated Research Center. Kathy Bieschke DLP FACILITATORS 2022-2023 Pennsylvania State University Kathy Bieschke was appointed Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs at the Pennsylvania State University in August of 2017. She earned a B.S. in Psychology and a M.S. in Clinical Psychology from Illinois State University, and a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology in 1991 from Michigan State University. She joined the faculty at Penn State University in 1991 and is a Professor of Education. Dr. Bieschke served as an Administrative Fellows in 2012-2013, Head of Educational Psychology, Counseling, and Special Education from 2013-2016, and Interim Dean of the Schreyer Honors Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs College in 2016-2017. Office of the Provost Charity Farber Big Ten Academic Alliance Charity Farber is an Associate Director at the Big Ten Academic Alliance. During her thirteen years at the Big Ten Academic Alliance, she has managed a wide range of programs including DEI pipeline and pathway initiatives, study abroad, course sharing, graduate recruitment, and faculty development. In her current role, she leads large-scale, multi-university collaborative professional development initiatives supported by the Big Ten Academic Alliance Provosts, NSF, and Mellon Foundation and manages the strategic initiatives of the Vice Provost for Faculty Associate Director Affairs and Graduate Deans. Katherine Galvin DLP FACILITATORS 2022-2023 Big Ten Academic Alliance Katherine Galvin is the Director of the Programs Team of the Big Ten Academic Alliance. The ten-member Programs Team provides leadership and support for the consortium’s Vice Provosts for Faculty Affairs, Liberal Arts and Sciences Deans, Graduate Deans, Chief Information Officers, Senior International Officers, the Big Ten-Ivy League Traumatic Brain Injury Research Collaboration, and special programs of the Provosts. The Programs Team provides strategic collaborative expertise, program management, administrative support, and infrastructure to further Director stakeholders’ meetings, programs, pilot projects, strategic Programs Team initiatives and peer groups. Lois Geist University of Iowa Lois J. Geist was appointed Associate Provost for faculty in November 2019. She earned a doctor of medicine degree from Case Western Reserve University. Dr. Geist has been a professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Occupational Medicine at the University of Iowa since 1990 and has served as Associate Dean of faculty affairs and development since 2003 while maintaining an active clinical practice. Adam Goodman Northwestern University DLP FACILITATORS 2022-2023 Adam Goodman directs Northwestern University's Center for Leadership and is a Clinical Professor in the McCormick School of Engineering & Applied Science. He works with senior leaders globally in industry as well as with faculty and students on leadership, mentoring and teamwork, focusing on learning in real world contexts. Director, Center for Leadership McCormick School of Engineering & Applied Science Helen Malone The Ohio State University Helen Malone was named Vice Provost of Academic Policy and Faculty Resources at The Ohio State University in June 2019. Her portfolio includes overseeing faculty human resources including compensation, hiring, promotion and tenure, and academic leadership development. Dr. Malone began as an assistant professor at Ohio State in 2005. She received her PhD from UT Austin, her MA from NYU, and her BS from the UC Davis. Dr. Malone’s research focuses on teaching individuals with severe and profound disabilities new skills using mobile technologies. Lisa Mauer Purdue University DLP FACILITATORS 2022-2023 Lisa Mauer is the Associate Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs and Professor of Food Science at Purdue University. She has been on the Purdue faculty since 2001 and is well known for her leadership and mentorship, as well as her scholarship in the area of food materials science and teaching of numerous highly regarded food science courses. Associate Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs Provost's Office Judy Walker University of Nebraska-Lincoln Judy Walker is the Associate Vice Chancellor for Faculty Affairs and Aaron Douglas Professor of Mathematics at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. An alumna of the University of Illinois and the University of Michigan, she co- founded the Nebraska Conference for Undergraduate Women in Mathematics and currently serves as the Chair of the Board of Trustees of the American Mathematical Society (AMS). She was named a Fellow of the AMS in 2012, a Fellow of the Association for Women in Mathematics in 2019 and a Fellow of the American Association for the Associate Vice Chancellor for Faculty and Advancement of Science in 2022.
