December 2020 – February 2021 Crosslinks Prayer Diary
DECEMBER EAST AFRICA TUE 1 Pray for students at Uganda Martyrs’ Seminary Namugongo, where Chris and Ros Howles live and work. The college has been closed since March and students have been back in their parishes. Church closures have meant that most pastors have had very little income. Pray that they will put their hope in the Lord and look to live for him, learning from him amid ongoing struggles and uncertainties. WED 2 Pray for Rachael and Bernie Muluuta as they create contextualised bible training materials for use in various parts of Uganda. Pray for them as they record audio devotionals for people who are unable to access faithful bible teaching. Pray for the ladies’ ministry Rachael is involved with, in particular the recent series of films on Genesis 1-4. Pray that the videos will be impacting many lives and pray for Rachael as she plans the next series. THU 3 Andrew and Eunice Moody are currently in Northern Ireland whilst their daughter Joy begins studies at a college in Ballymena. Pray for Joy as she adjusts to studying in the UK and pray that she will enjoy living with her granny. Andrew and Eunice plan to return to Uganda and their pastor training ministry next year. Pray for Andrew as he prepares teaching materials to use when they are back. FRI 4 Thank God for ongoing support for Nekemte School for the Deaf in Ethiopia. Pray that the generous giving partnerships continue and that partners will encourage and strengthen each other in prayer. Pray for the teachers at the school to model a godly life and to love the students following Christ’s example. SAT 5 In Kenya, Alison Talbert is continuing with research into prevention and treatment of childhood malnutrition, whilst field work is still on hold. She 2
gives thanks for the phased reopening of Kenyan schools and asks for prayers for the 60 sponsored children at the Upendo orphans support project. Pray that restrictions will be lifted so that the children can meet together for bible studies, life skills classes and other activities. SUN 6 Wanyeki and Mary Mahiaini direct St Julian’s Anglican Training Centre in Kenya. Because of the past year’s disruptions they have had to find new ways to teach and train clergy, evangelists and lay readers. Pray that this work will be of great service to God’s Church in Kenya. MON 7 Gerald and Louise Mwangi ask for prayer for the TransformD discipleship programme in Kenya. They hope to restart the gap year scheme in January, for a smaller-than-usual group of 20 participants. Pray for recruitment of participants and for wisdom in how to do things in the new circumstances. Pray for strength and energy for Gerald and Louise as they manage their three small boys. TUE 8 Pray for Jomo Nderitu in his role as youth officer for Marsabit Diocese in Kenya. Jomo is responsible for the youth work across a large area so please pray for strength to serve whole-heartedly, particularly after so much disruption this year. Pray for the students who Jomo meets to have their eyes opened to the gospel. WED 9 Discipling the Next Generation (led by Jean Ngirimana) equips children’s workers in Rwanda. During lockdown this year the team started writing lessons for parents to help them teach the Bible at home. Praise God for the good reception this material has had by both churches and individuals and pray that these lessons will continue to be used by parents. THU 10 Pray for the students whose training at iServe Africa in Kenya was interrupted this year by COVID restrictions. They had been close to finishing their year of ministry training so please pray that they will trust God and his timing. Pray that training will be able to resume safely so that they can finish their studies and go on to lead gospel-centred churches. FRI 11 In Kenya, Ken Irungu is the youth worker at GracePoint Church, Kikuyu – praise God for the financial and prayerful support Ken has received so far. Thank 3
God for the many young people in the church and pray that they will continue growing in their love for Jesus. Pray too for Ken to keep growing as a ‘disciple-making-disciple’. WEST AFRICA SAT 12 Nick and Harriet Algeo hope to return to The Gambia in early January for the start of the second term at Servants of the Word bible school. Pray that this will be possible and that they will rely on God as they settle back after a long period away. Pray particularly that their two- month-old baby will adapt well to the heat. SUN 13 Pray for Alex and Susannah in West Africa as they study the local language. Pray that their increasing ability to speak the language will help them deepen relationships with neighbours. Pray that they will be able to sow seeds of the gospel in their conversations. MON 14 Rick and Alanna Creighton are in Jos, Nigeria. As the semester comes to an end, pray that the Lord would help Rick get through his mountain of marking and Alanna with her Masters in Theology coursework. Pray for wisdom for Rick and the staff at Jos Theological Seminary as they plan teaching and learning for the New Year amid COVID restrictions. Pray for a peaceful and secure Christmas season for Nigeria. TUE 15 Ezechi Iwuagwu leads Abuja Bible College, which trains men and women for faithful bible teaching in Nigeria. Thank God for the way he has sustained Ezechi this year and praise God for Ezechi’s dependence and perseverance. Pray that Ezechi and his family will know God’s comfort and peace and will enter the New Year feeling refreshed and rested. WED 16 Portia Yiadom serves as a women’s worker with Relite Africa Ministry in Accra, Ghana. Pray for the 45 students currently involved in ministry training. Pray for the outreach initiatives taking place at Portia’s church this month. Pray that church members will set aside time to pray, share the gospel and make the most of all the evangelistic opportunities at this time of year. 4
THU 17 Give thanks that Daniel Gmabe in Togo was able to return to West Africa Advanced School of Theology in August, following its closure since March. Daniel is studying for a Bachelor of Theology. After completing the modules left over from the curtailed first semester, Daniel has now caught up with the second term’s subjects. He is on his Christmas break and has returned to Guérin-Kouka village to pastor a newly planted church. Central Europe FRI 18 Szilárd Tam is working with Acorn Camps to help Hungarian churches reach teenagers for Christ. He also helps with the youth group of his local church in Budapest and receives bible and ministry training. Pray for many young people in Hungary to know the true gospel of Christ this Christmas. Pray for Szilárd to enjoy good rest and spiritual refreshment over the holidays. SAT 19 Jirka and Keira Kralovi have had a very busy term of teaching, discipling and reaching out to university students in Olomouc, Czech Republic. Give thanks for all the amazing opportunities they have had and pray for their Christmas mission activities during these last few days of term. SUN 20 In Hungary, Anna Poór and the staff at Acorn Camps praise God for Szilárd Tam joining the team in September. Give thanks for his joyful enthusiasm and infectious love for young people. Pray for preparations for the youth leaders’ training weekend in Bodrogkeresztúr, west Hungary. Anna and the team will train youth leaders in bible-centred youth work, teaching and modelling from Mark’s gospel. Pray for a leader from there to join the Acorn Camps CORE training team. MON 21 Andy and Zsófi Oatridge give thanks for the second cohort of youth leaders on the Acorn Camps CORE bible training course. They plan to expand and run two courses in different parts of Hungary from September 2021. Pray for God to provide more teachers for the course. 5
CHRISTMAS TUE 22 Pray that at the end of a challenging year many unbelievers will seek to know more about the peace on earth that Christians celebrate at Christmas. Pray that mission partners throughout the globe will have opportunities to talk with friends and neighbours about why God sent his only Son to earth. WED 23 Pray for the many Christmas services and outreach activities mission partners are involved with this week. Pray that because carol services are having to take place online as well as in church buildings, this will result in many more people attending and hearing about the good news of Christ. THU 24 Pray for Crosslinks workers who are missing family and friends this Christmas, particularly as many mission partners had home leave cancelled this year. Pray that God will comfort them and give them joy in their work for him. FRI 25 Praise God for sending Jesus into the world and for growing a global family of believers who have life in Christ’s name. Pray that amid the busyness that this time of year brings, Crosslinks workers throughout the world will have time to rest today and appreciate the love of God in sending his Son for us. Eastern Europe SAT 26 Moldova has two Christmases (25 December and 7 January) and superficially this is a very religious time of year. However, most church attendance is driven by a desire to earn one’s salvation. Please pray that Graeme and Bequi Innes will be able to have conversations about the true meaning of Christmas and the grace that Jesus the Saviour was born to bring. 6
SUN 27 In Serbia, Project Timothy had planned to run a training course in May but it was unable to go ahead. Pray that those pastors who had signed up to attend will be available for future courses, and that the courses will be able to resume safely. Pray that church leaders in Serbia will be prayerfully studying God’s word in order to preach it faithfully. MON 28 Praise God that Brada Radanovic and his family have now completed the renovations on their apartment in Serbia. Pray for the Christmas activities at Grace Church Novi Sad, in particular their street evangelism and the distribution of shoebox parcels. Pray that all who attend their ‘Turning Point’ course – both church members and unbelieving friends – will be impacted as they examine 2 Peter 1:5-7. NORTHERN EUROPE TUE 29 Chris and Lotta Strajnic at Emmaus Church in Åkersberga, Sweden look back on this year with gratitude for God’s faithfulness in their ministry. Give thanks also for teaching opportunities at the Theological Seminary. Looking ahead to 2021 with both challenges and new opportunities, they ask for God’s wisdom and guidance to grow in love and to continue to preach the gospel faithfully. WED 30 Give thanks for the Advent services that Trevor and Andrea Watson were involved with at Gothenburg International Baptist Church. Trevor preached through Hebrew 1-2, with the theme ‘Jesus is the greatest’. Those who came to these services have been invited to their easy Swedish bible study on Thursday evenings. Pray for saving encounters with Jesus. THU 31 Pārdaugava Reformed Church in Riga, Latvia, want to reach the lost of all ages and build them up through the faithful teaching of God’s word. Pray for the young people who are part of the youth bible study group. Pray for the leaders and the teenagers, especially those who are not ordinarily part of the church. 7
JANUARY Western Europe FRI 1 Steve and Dawn Orange in Belgium give thanks that the gospel is not chained whatever circumstances there are on the world stage. Pray that the gospel message will ring out in Brussels as God’s people continue to share it with others. Pray for fruit from online evangelistic initiatives and for perseverance in word ministry for the church despite the restraints that are still in place. SAT 2 Jonny Tilford and Michael White are serving short-term in Belgium with a church plant in Louvain-la-Neuve, where there is a large student population. Pray that many people will hear the gospel and grow in their faith through the efforts of the church planting team. SUN 3 Robbie and Lizzie Bellis write, ‘Give thanks for a good first term with the church plant in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium. Praise God for sermons in Mark’s Gospel and 1 Thessalonians and bible studies in Colossians. Pray for the core group to be established in the gospel and for us to be creative and bold in reaching out with the good news.’ MON 4 Pray for James and Lou Clark to be growing in thankfulness, ‘giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light.’ (Colossians 1:12) Pray that many students in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium will hear the gospel this year through events and one-to-one bible reading. Pray for Christian students to be rooted and established in the faith. TUE 5 Sena and Jane Ounate-Lare are leading a church plant in Caen, northern France. Give thanks to the Lord for the spiritual growth they are seeing in the lives of individual church members. Pray for their ministry among refugees and migrants. Pray also for fruit from the Alpha course they will be running at the beginning of this year. 8
WED 6 Charles and Frances De Roemer lead a small church in Binche, Belgium. Pray that those who heard the gospel through the church’s Christmas outreach activities will respond in faith. Give thanks for those on the church council and pray that they will be wise and prayerful in leading the church. Pray too for gospel unity with other churches in the town. THU 7 Maisie Walkingshaw and Hannah Dowdy are studying French at university and are spending their year abroad in Belgium serving at the Protestant Evangelical Church in Woluwe. Hannah and Maisie are also studying at the Brussels Bible Institute one day a week. Pray for them to grow not just in their language skills but also in their knowledge and love of the Lord Jesus. Southern Europe FRI 8 Praise God that, since September, Forte Torre Church in Bologna, Italy, has been able to run six midweek bible study groups, led by a number of new leaders. Pray for JP and Sue Aranzulla as they play their part in equipping these leaders for long-term faithful service. Pray for fruit in the lives of church members as they study the sermon on the mount in the midweek groups this term. SAT 9 Chris and Lizzie Brown serve in Italy with the GBU student movement. Give thanks for students who are keen to serve the gospel in their universities despite the challenges brought about by the pandemic. Pray that through their witness people will be brought to repentance and faith this year. SUN 10 Mark and Jane Oden enter their fifth year serving at Chiesa Evangelica Neapolis in Italy. Give thanks for the Lord’s sustaining hand over them: they have grown in their relationship with him, love for one another and concern for the lost sheep of Naples. Pray that the church will be both creative and courageous in seeking to bring unbelievers to a saving faith. 9
MON 11 Luigi Palombo was working with students at Forte Torre Church in Bologna but is now studying at Oak Hill Theological College in London. Pray that he learns well in his studies, particularly that he can engage with the biblical languages. Pray that the Lord will be equipping him for long-term service in Italy in the future. TUE 12 Pray for the church and student ministry Joe and Rachel Clarke are involved with in Coimbra, Portugal. It is exam time at the moment so pray that the Christian students will continue to put Christ at the centre of all they do. Pray that they will be salt and light in this dark world and will have opportunities to share the reason for the hope that they have in Christ. WED 13 Julian and Nicky Milson give thanks for a different but enjoyable Christmas sharing the good news of ‘God with us’. Please pray that Julian, Nicky and their church will continue to make evangelism a priority despite the difficulties of COVID restrictions. Pray too that they will be able to start a new weekly children’s club that had to be postponed because of the pandemic. THU 14 Julia Snodgrass is serving students in Coimbra, Portugal with the university Christian movement. Pray for the Christian students to be godly and have biblical priorities. Pray for many non-Christian students to be interested in the Christian faith and hear the gospel before they leave university. FRI 15 Jonny and Ruth Pullar are serving in Italy with Forte Torre Church in Bologna. Give thanks for the many opportunities they have to open up God’s word through Sunday sermons, bible studies and personal conversations. Pray that many people will come to know and receive the Lord’s mercy and that he alone will be glorified. Asia Preaching the gospel publicly and open discipleship are not always possible in parts of Asia, which is why some of the following entries do not include names or locations. Pray for sensitivity to the situation and for opportunities to witness safely. 10
SAT 16 Pray for wisdom for J and YY on how to serve and love others at their church in an east Asian city. Pray for their effective witness to friends, family and neighbours. J is teaching Greek for the first time this semester. Pray for wisdom on how to do this well and that as he teaches the biblical languages students would grow in their love for Christ. SUN 17 James and Kate concluded a decade of life overseas in summer 2020 and returned to live in the UK. They would value prayer as they try to find their feet and a new direction in Britain. Pray for them as they help their adopted daughter, Penelope (for whom many things are totally new) to grow and flourish in the UK. MON 18 Please pray for N at the start of an extended break in the UK – for refreshment, re-equipping and re-envisioning for a hoped return to east Asia later this year. Pray too for clarity and wisdom in any change of role in the future. TUE 19 Education for Liberation works in New Delhi, India, providing education and gospel teaching to families in local slums. Praise God for the women and children who not only develop literacy and numeracy skills but also hear the gospel every time they attend the programme. Pray for the food programme that was set up this year in response to the lockdown. WED 20 Pastor Devender Verma leads North India Bible Training, which provides conferences and teaching to pastors across India. Pray for the pastors who attend, that they will have hearts full of humility to hear what the Bible teaches and that they would commit to faithfully preaching it in their local contexts. THU 21 Shahbaz Boota leads Zarephath Bible Seminary (ZBS) in Pakistan. In the last year the ZBS team have been able to continue training online and also implemented an aid programme for pastors and their families. Praise God for all the supporters who gave to this and for the families who received food and financial support. 11
FRI 22 John and Gillian Robinson work at the Place of Grace in Bangkok, with children and families from poor communities. Pray for the learning centre, children’s clubs, discipleship groups and foodbank. The Robinsons hope to come to the UK on home leave this year: pray that there will be adequate staff and volunteers to cover all the areas of their work whilst they are away. SAT 23 Janet works at The Centre in Chiang Mai, Thailand, teaching English to university students whilst seeking opportunities to share the gospel with them. She gives thanks for unexpected gospel fruit whilst classes were online. Give thanks too for a growing sense of community among the new students. Pray for more full-time teachers for The Centre and for the Lord to send them more students who he wants to draw to himself. SUN 24 Alex and Kate are doing language study whilst waiting to move to their destination country, where they will help returning students keep the faith or continue exploring. They are thankful for opportunities to serve in their current church in South Korea and read the Bible with a number of non-Christians. Pray for patience and perseverance in each of these areas. CROSSLINKS MON 25 Pray for the Crosslinks board of trustees and leadership team as they steer Crosslinks into the future. Pray that the Lord will enable them to work together well and give them wisdom for making decisions that serve to grow his kingdom. TUE 26 Give thanks to God for sustaining Crosslinks financially over the past 99 years. Pray that the Lord would continue this provision, particularly as the events of the past year have impacted the society’s finances. WED 27 Praise God for helping the Crosslinks staff as they have worked from home since March last year. Thank the Lord for effective IT that has enabled administrative processes to keep going. Pray for 12
continued good communication and strong relationships among the office teams. THU 28 Pray for the Crosslinks London office team, under the leadership of John McLernon, Beth Buchanan and Jamie Read. Ask that the Lord would grant clarity as to when and how staff should return to the office full-time. Pray for energy, creativity and stamina as each staff member carries out their role. FRI 29 Pray for the Crosslinks staff team based in Belfast as they serve churches and individuals supporters in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Pray that, despite a smaller staff team and the challenges of 2020, God would grow his work in Ireland this year. Worldwide SAT 30 Pray for David and Rachel Williams as they begin a new semester at St Andrew’s Hall – the training facility for the Church Missionary Society of Australia (CMS). During January their team moved back into the redeveloped college after the building project last year. Thank God for its completion and for CMS members who raised a considerable sum. Pray that the large new group of trainee mission partners will be well equipped for long-term mission. SUN 31 Give thanks for continued gospel work in the Arctic Diocese, which Crosslinks has been partnered with for almost a century. Praise God that even in the remote parishes and extreme challenges, our brothers and sisters are faithfully proclaiming his name and seeking his kingdom. Pray particularly for perseverance for Bishop Joey Royal and his staff team. 13
FEBRUARY GREAT BRITAIN AND IRELAND MON 1 Marjolijn works in east London, sharing Christ with women of other faiths whilst working as a midwife. Give thanks that she has settled in to a new community clinic and is getting on well with patients and staff, who are mostly Muslims. Pray for Marjolijn’s ongoing witness to a neighbour: pray that the Lord will give her gospel opportunities with her and her family. TUE 2 J teaches English to refugees in Belfast. In the past year all her classes have moved online – pray for resilience as this form of teaching is much more intense than face-to-face. Give thanks that online teaching has meant that J has been able to maintain and deepen relationships with the women she teaches. Ask for wisdom for J to know when and how to resume more normal socialising. WED 3 Jem Hovil (based in the UK) asks for prayer for the BUILD training scheme in Rwanda as it equips church leaders across four dioceses (Shyogwe, Butare, Kigemi and Cyangugu). Pray for Edward Nyituriki as he leads the latest phase of training focussing on Mark’s Gospel and servant leadership, and for the Kinyarwanda translation work that continues to undergird that. THU 4 Gillian Pegler is a prison chaplain in HMP Cardiff. She has written two books for prisoners: a December devotional called The Promised Child and an Easter devotional called The Promised Saviour. Pray for safe delivery of 3,000 copies of The Promised Saviour to prisons this month and for the prisoners who will be reading them. FRI 5 In the past year Helen Sheridan has had consistent opportunities to read the Bible with women in the community. Praise God for those wanting to know 14
Jesus better and for two women who professed faith for the first time. Pray that these women will begin engaging with Calvary Church Castlebar (a big cultural shift) so that they might become part of the community of believers making Jesus better known in Ireland. SAT 6 After eight years serving the Gafcon movement internationally, Charles Raven is taking on a new ministry with Oxford-based Relay Trust. He will be helping the organisation expand its reach in providing grassroots bible training in challenging and less accessible regions of Africa. Pray for local churches to be strengthened and multiply as leaders are equipped to teach the Bible faithfully and effectively. SUN 7 Pray that Thorsten and Kerstin Prill and the staff team at Edinburgh Bible College will know how best to equip future church leaders in the context of a pandemic. Pray that the students will not experience stress or tiredness because of long hours working online but that they will enjoy their studies. MON 8 Neil and Sharon Watkinson are based in England but are involved in preaching training globally. Pray for the Cornhill Training Course that Neil teaches on and give thanks that more international students have joined this year, because classes are online. Pray for the Pray Prepare Preach series that Neil is helping write. Pray that the books will equip bible teachers and preachers around the world. Church ministry in BRITAIN TUE 9 Simon and Rachel Dowdy at Grace Church Dulwich ask for prayer for a series of guest events taking place next month, with Roger Carswell speaking. Pray that the church will be prayerful and bold in inviting and that the Lord will bring people to hear the gospel. Pray for faithful and clear talks and for people to be born again. Pray for follow-up using Christianity Explored online and in person. 15
WED 10 David and Jane Gibbs at Grace Church Wanstead thank the Lord that he has sustained them physically and spiritually over the past year. Pray that they might find ways of getting the gospel out even when COVID restrictions seem to prevent them doing so. Pray that God will be growing his harvest from the seed they have sown, even though they can’t see it. THU 11 Tony and Sarah Jones ask for prayer for the Christ Church Durham church family – that they will continue to support one another and speak the gospel to encourage each other. Pray that they’d all remain committed to evangelism in whatever context they can. Pray that the students will develop clarity on their gospel convictions. FRI 12 Tim and Lucy Chapman are at Christ Church South Cambs, where Sunday services are taking place both online and in person. Pray for perseverance for them as they manage this set-up. Pray that church members will continue to fix their hope in Christ at this time, particularly families with young children. SAT 13 Raymond and Rebekah Brown at Grace Church Brockley give thanks that they have been meeting physically as a church since September. Pray that those on the periphery will come back, as well as those concerned about their health. Pray that they will continue to be outward looking and evangelistically minded. Southern Africa SUN 14 Pray for Nat and Helen Schluter and family in South Africa. Chris and Miriam are at university whilst Beth, Isaac and Azola are starting a new academic year at school. Johannesburg Bible College is gearing up to welcome the new group of first year students. Pray that the team will settle quickly with a sense of expectation of how they are all going to grow this year. MON 15 Nerena Neathercoat is in her third and final year at George Whitefield College in South Africa. The academic year is starting this week, later than normal because of COVID-19. Pray for God’s continued 16
grace for Nerena and her classmates, that they will grow in the knowledge of the Lord, be equipped to teach others and grow in love and service through their studies. Pray for God to direct Nerena’s steps when she finishes the course. TUE 16 Pray for Alun and Debbie Burt and the ministry of St Thomas’ Church in Heideveld, South Africa. Pray for new ministry apprentice Dillon Solomons as he settles into his role teaching the Friday youth group. Pray for continued wisdom and strength for Alun and the rest of the staff team as they lead the church in this needy community at this time. WED 17 Jaki North returned to the UK in December after serving in South Africa since 2013. Pray for her as she continues to re-adjust. Pray for Yolanda as she takes over Jaki’s role at Trinity Children’s Centre, supporting children and families in a community full of violence, poverty and inequality. Give thanks for the many opportunities Jaki had to share the gospel of hope whilst working there. THU 18 James and Lucy Buchanan give great thanks for God’s sustaining and sovereignty throughout 2020. At the start of a new academic year in South Africa, pray that their church’s student work will pick up where it left off before university closures last year. Pray that students will grasp and grow in the gospel this year. Pray similarly for Hope Church Auckland Park to continue to grow in number and in maturity. FRI 19 Give thanks for the new students starting at Johannesburg Bible College (JBC) in South Africa and pray that they will be humble and hungry to learn God’s word. Pray for John Miller to be servant-hearted and wise as he leads the team at the Soweto campus. Pray for patience and joy for Jenny Miller as she homeschools their three sons and sets up a new database for JBC. SAT 20 Studying at college is often stressful and demanding but the limitations and restrictions of the coronavirus lockdown added greater pressure on the mental health and family situations of a number of Crosslinks study partners. Pray for the Lord’s grace, wisdom and strength as they pray and work through these difficult and trying circumstances. 17
SUN 21 In South Africa, study partner Nkosingiphile Mlambo’s Bachelor of Theology course at George Whitefield College was greatly disrupted by the pandemic. As a result, he has extended his studies by a few months to enable him to complete and submit his dissertation. As Nkosi finishes his course this year, pray that the Lord will lead him in his future ministry. MON 22 In Namibia, Josh and Cathy Hooker are involved with the School of the Bible (for church members) and the Preaching Academy (for church leaders). Pray that participants will be equipped by these courses and for a growing excitement as God’s people understand his truth. Pray for the Hooker children, especially Benjamin, who has his iGCSE exams this year. TUE 23 Andy, Rachel, Haydn and Daniel Symons are at Proclamation Institute Zambia (PIZ) where Andy is teaching bible handling skills to Zambians from many different backgrounds. Give thanks and continue to pray for past and present students that have studied at PIZ to be better equipped to take God’s word to those they meet. WED 24 Adam Tomalin is serving in South Africa as the youth worker at Hope Church Auckland Park. Pray for more godly leaders for the youth group and pray that the young people who come will know and love Jesus. Adam is also helping with the new discipleship programme for men in the church. Pray that many men will grow in maturity as a result. THU 25 Sarah Hopkins is serving in Mitchells Plain in South Africa, where poverty, violence and abuse are widespread. She works as a play therapist at a school and runs evangelistic sewing classes. Pray that many of the women, children and families in the community will come to know the saving hope that only Jesus can offer. Pray too for safety for Sarah. FRI 26 Christ Central Soweto was launched in Johannesburg, South Africa in 2018. The church aims to train up gospel workers to be bible centred and to know how to preach the gospel sensitively to a broken world. Soweto is one of the poorest areas of Johannesburg and many people face addiction, domestic abuse and unemployment. Please pray for Musa and the staff team. 18
SAT 27 Pray for Clemore Hanjalika from Zambia, Wilma Chipurupuru from Zimbabwe and Mziwanele Mhlanti from Johannesburg as they start their second year on the Bachelor of Theology course at George Whitefield College (South Africa). This year the study programme will continue with theological and biblical subjects and add more emphasis on church ministry and the practical responsibilities of leadership. SUN 28 Both David Kleinhans from Western Cape and Wilko Olles from Namibia have started the second year of the Masters in Theology course at George Whitefield College (South Africa). Pray for David and Wilko as they deepen their knowledge of the Old and New Testaments and Christian Doctrine and shape their ideas as to their research projects and dissertations. 19
