A new paradigm for mobility • New Users’ Models: • Shared mobility services • Supporting automation technologies • Safety: reduction in the number of car accidents and related social and economic costs. • Big Data & Machine learning: collection of data (road infrastructure, traffic, status of the driver). • Environmental sustainability. 3
A new paradigm for mobility Lane Departure Warning, Electronic stability control, Forward Collision Warning Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assistant, Blind Spot Information System, Auto Emergency Braking 4 SAE LEVEL entertainment
A new paradigm for mobility • Cooperative, connected and automated mobility (CCAM) • In many respects today's vehicles are already connected devices. However, in the very near future they will also interact directly with each other and with the road infrastructure. • Cooperation: it allows road users and traffic managers to share information and use it to coordinate their actions. • Connectivity: communication between vehicles, infrastructure and other road users to significantly improve road safety, traffic efficiency and comfort of driving, by helping the driver to take the right decisions and adapt to the traffic situation (5G communication). • Autonomous driving: • Zero emissions: Reduction of fuel consumption & CO2 emission + Optimization of traffic flow • Demographic change: Support unconfident drivers + Enhance mobility for elderly people • Vision zero: Potential for more driver support by avoiding human driving errors 5
