Welcome Welcome from the Vice-Chancellor Welcome to the University of Chester, from wherever in the world you are reading this from. I am delighted that you are considering making an application for one of our programmes. Choosing a University is never an easy choice, especially as an international student – in fact, it’s one of the biggest decisions you’ll ever make. I have spoken to many international students here at Chester during my first year as Vice-Chancellor and can tell you that they all believe they have made the right decision. I have been impressed and inspired by their stories of academic success and extra-curricular engagement and how they’ve quickly found their feet and embraced student life in their new surroundings. At the University of Chester, we are proud of our diverse and inclusive nature. We are currently home to students from more than 130 countries worldwide and provide every single student with a platform to help make their academic and career goals a reality. We have a strong focus on social justice and are working hard to ensure equality of treatment and opportunity for all. For example, we have active projects on gender equality through the Athena Swan standard and on race equality, through our staff & student Race Equality Challenge Group. Don’t just take my word for it, however! In July 2020, we were voted second-best University in the UK for international students at the WhatUni? Student Choice Awards. This outstanding recognition was thanks to the reviews of our current international students and our dedication to providing them with a life-changing learning and cultural experience here in the UK. In the following pages, you will find lots of information which I hope you will find useful as you embark on a new and exciting chapter in your life. The University’s International Centre do a fantastic job in supporting and advising prospective students and I strongly recommend you get in touch should you have any questions- Professor Eunice Simmons their contact details can be found throughout this prospectus.
