An initiative by 4 Council Elections I am not yet an adult, and hence not a voter, according to the law of the land. But my school gave me a chance to witness this important process and become a part of it. Council elections were to be held for the year 2018-19. We as students of class XI and class XII were given an opportunity to contest elections. The process altogether was democratic and very new to all the students. It started with filling up forms that required basic information such as our name, which class do we study in and the post we wish to contest for. Class XII students were open for the post of Head Boy and Head Girl while Class XI students were open for the post of Associate Head Boy, Associate Head Girl and Students' Council Secretary. All the students were instructed to make their own Logos and Posters for the election campaigning. We as candidates for various posts visited different classes from VII to X to campaign and ask for votes. This time students were given the full authority to elect their representative by casting their vote. Convincing the students was not an easy task. Every class had different opinions, unique problems which required understanding .Every candidate had to give a small speech, justifying why he/she should be elected for the post. Our election pitch and canvassing continued for two days. On the day of elections which were on 12th June 2018, all the candidates were instructed to deliver their final speech in the morning assembly. Voting process was simple, class wise students visited the voting room, then they were given strips of paper which had the logos of the candidates for the position. Each student then had to cast his/her vote by stamping ink on the logo of the candidate. A democratic approach towards the Council elections gave students a platform to express their ideas and thoughts about the school, and gave us a medium to connect with other students. Also, it gave us all an exposure to public speaking and a lesson for life! > Ameya Nanderkar Class XI B Events Of Pre Primary Section Eid Celebration EID-UL-FITR is an important Muslim festival celebrated worldwide. It marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting. To celebrate this auspicious day they all come together and feast on traditional dishes and the very famous and delicious irresistible Sheer-Khurma, they also offer prayers and charity. To give the students an insight about this beautiful festival of Eid a special assembly on 14th June 2018, Thursday was conducted and presented by the students of grade 1 and 2 of Delhi Public School. To provide the students with more information on Eid, the word, the thought and the sentence were all related to it. The highlight of the day was a graceful dance performance by the students of grade 2. To hear the student of grade 1 give information on Eid was the highlight of the day. The motto of this special assembly was to make the students learn the culture and tradition of another religion, which I can say was succesfully achieved and this is how the seeds of secularism were sown in the young minds. > Kshipra Mandlecha IX C Delhi Public School, Nashik.
