Matt Jago Sightsavers Matt has worked with technology from a young age, building his first PC out of spare parts in his parents’ garage at the age of 9. He has worked across multiple sectors, from leisure, through marketing & data analytics to not-for-profit. Matt started working at Sightsavers, an International NGO, back in 2008 as a Service Desk Technician. 5 years later, he was put in charge of the Global IT team and hasn’t looked back since. Over the 12+ years of working at Sightsavers, Matt has overseen multiple major projects, from migrating servers to a private cloud, moving to O365, data warehousing and analytics, systems development and of course the dreaded managed print contract renewal. After becoming interested in business analysis, Matt set up a Business Application team at Sightsavers 4 years ago to assist the organisation in managing system integration and development. The team is now taking on a large data strategy project to help streamline global data capture and processing across the organisation. As a member of Charity IT Leaders, he was quick to volunteer to assist with organising the Annual Conference and became the Conference Trustee shortly afterwards. After running several successful conferences, Matt has taken on a new challenge as Secretary of Charity IT Leaders. He is passionate about his family, all things data, any form of technology, photography and, with a collection that overshadows that of his two children, Lego. Richard Mullender The Listening Institute Before going into the private sector, Richard Mullender was Lead Trainer at Scotland Yard’s National Hostage and Crisis Negotiation Unit. He was part of the team that negotiated the high-profile release of three UN workers held hostage by the Taliban in Afghanistan in 2004. His listening expertise contributed to the intelligence that informed the rescue of Norman Kember in Iraq in 2006. During this time Richard provided training for international law enforcement agencies including the FBI, and advised government bodies from the UN to the World Food Programme. In the decade since leaving the police, Richard established his own consultancy. He’s trained clients across virtually all sectors, from BT to LinkedIn and from Cambridge University to KPMG. He now runs The Listening Institute – a training consultancy with one simple mission: To teach the business world to listen like hostage negotiators, so they can strike better deals. Elizabeth O’Neill Charities Aid Foundation I wear many different hats in my role as Head of Technical Projects and Change including coach, mentor, implementer, process engineer, facilitator, doer, change agent, idea generator, agile evangelist and prince2 practitioner to name a few. If I was to summarise my role in one sentence it would be "I am responsible for helping turn ideas into reality". I run towards fires, I love hard problems and difficult challenges. I love doing things that people think are impossible and helping people reach their potential. I‘m passionate about the positive impact technology and digital can have in our organisation and society as a whole. I believe that culture eats strategy for breakfast and when we get culture right it's a win - win for the organisation and the individual. Steve Shutts ASTRiiD A management consultant since 1995, Steve’s corporate background lies in Retail where he was the first Head of Strategic Marketing at Sainsbury’s, before leaving to establish a consultancy centred on the development of CRM/Loyalty solutions. However in 2017 everything changed as a result of the diagnosis his brother had received. David Shutts OBE had been diagnosed with cancer two years earlier, but at this point it became clear that if his legacy was to be maintained, some additional energy was required to drive the charity, Astriid. At the time Steve was the chief people officer of global digital marketing company Clicksco, and so people, talent development and recruitment was very much in his blood. The challenge that the charity chose to address, that of connecting people with long term health conditions to meaningful work, clearly would benefit from Steve’s drive and enthusiasm. He became the CEO and took over Davids legacy. Steve is hands-on, passionate, and motivated by the opportunity to create value through direct, personal impact on the business. His career has centred on innovation, strategic thinking, the ability to create and build enthusiasm for new products and concepts. Whilst operating in the Third Sector, Astriid is now benefitting from that commercial experience.
