City Manager’s Message
This season, we’re shaking off the winter cold and welcoming in the warmth of spring,
which often means spending more time outdoors exploring the local and surrounding areas.
Here in Aliso Viejo, we’re lucky to have many small businesses call us home, all of whom
have their doors open to welcome you and your family. Whether you’re looking for a bite to
eat or searching for the perfect way to treat yourself or your loved ones, don’t forget to stop
by and enjoy what our city’s local businesses have to offer!
You may also enjoy soaking in the sunshine at our local parks, perusing the Aliso Viejo
Certified Farmer’s Market at Town Center every Saturday, or exploring our neighborhoods
and trails by walking, running, or biking. Lately, e-bikes have become quite popular as a
preferred method of transportation. If you and your family plan to bike around the city, be
sure to double check to ensure everyone understands the responsibilities of operating an
e-bike. This includes following the California vehicle laws and local codes, wearing a helmet,
and being mindful of pedestrians. It’s important to have these discussions before heading
out, not only to ensure the safety of other residents, but most importantly, to protect your
own family.
While we’re on the topic of safety, we encourage you to be mindful of the upcoming fire
season by creating a family preparedness plan. Be sure to locate the closest evacuation routes
from your home and gather necessary materials into a disaster preparedness backpack.
(You can always purchase one from the City by visiting avcity.org/backpacks.) You may also
further your spring cleaning by clearing out brush and vegetation around your property and
inspecting smoke alarms in your home. As your City staff, it’s not only our priority to provide
you with opportunities to create lasting memories, but to ensure your safety and well-being
above all else. We look forward to seeing you out and about this season, and we hope you
enjoy every moment of it.
