Goals of this advising session Make an informed decision about enrolling in the Nursing Assistant Training Program From here you will know how to: • Complete required documents for registration in the course NURSA 1105 • Fulfill all requirements of the CNA Program Registration Permit • Meet the registration deadline
Important Dates!!! • Registration for NURSA 1105 Registration “OPENS” in accordance with the COD registration process AND the 90 day drug screen and TB skin test earliest completion date Drug screen and TB test earliest completion dates Registration “CLOSES” at the end of business on the deadline date stated on the CNA Program page: • Spring 2019 (1st 8 week and 16 week classes): January 8th • Spring 2019 (2nd 8 week classes): February 28th • Summer 2019 (All 8 week classes): May 20th • Fall 2019 (1st 8-week and 16-week classes): August 6th • Fall 2019: (2nd 8-week classes) September 27th Please visit the CNA Home page for specific details.
CNA Student Orientation (CSO) All enrolled CNA students must attend an orientation session An email will be sent to your COD email (@DUPAGE.EDU) after the registration closes. Failure to attend the orientation dropped from the course Clear your calendar: • Spring 2019 (1st 8 week and 16 week classes): January 15th or 16th • Spring 2019 (2nd 8 week classes): March 7th • Summer 2019: May 28th or 29th • Fall 2019 (1st 8 week and 16 week classes): August 12th or 13th
Key information to be listening for during this presentation • A complete application file must include: CNA Registration Permit form (page 7 of Registration packet) A completed Health Care Worker Criminal Background Check form (page 6 of Registration packet) Proof of payment of non-refundable Application fee ($50) The following will already be ‘on record’ for you if you completed them as defined in the Registration packet: • College of DuPage application • Advising Session attendance • Placement test requirements • Health requirements

Registration Permit requirements Step 1: To access ECH’s services, call the location, identify yourself as a COD student and discuss what services are needed (Chart Review) Step 2: Bring all required documents to ECH for your chart review. YOU must be in attendance. Step 3: Once you receive the health clearance form from ECH, then you will upload the form to the online document manager.

Format Choices 8 week option: 3 days (or evenings) per week; two 6-hour lecture and lab days per week and one 8-hour clinical session per week 16 weekend option: 2 days per week; classroom sessions and clinical sessions 16 week- hybrid option: 1 face to face meeting day per week with an online component AND beginning mid-semester an additional meeting day for one 6-8 hour clinical session per week

Medical Insurance • Nurse Assistant students must have valid Medical Insurance while enrolled in the CNA program • Medical Insurance can be purchased through the college (Integrity Insurance and Financial) • Please upload a copy of both sides of the student’s Medical Insurance card to the document manager.
Fingerprint Criminal Background Check Occurs at mandatory CNA Student Orientation Based on accurate information on your Healthcare Worker Background Check form IDPH approved background check company $39 money order, cashier’s check, or credit card in the student’s name (Not parents or spouse’s name)

Program Participation • Key things to remember You must attend all class sessions, including the mandatory orientation An average of 78% must be accomplished in each of three assessment groups All IDPH required skills must be competently performed Any change in your health requires a doctor’s note to continue. • If it limits your ability to meet the Essential Functions, you will need to withdraw from the class.
