As all of you know, this past year and a half has been trying to everyone, especially our business community. I am proud to say the City of Rancho Mirage has responded to the unprecedented Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic with the best interest of our community. We make sure communication lines are always open with our residents, businesses, and community members, providing Covid-19 updates, resource links, information, and relief efforts. The City has ensured that our Covid-19 response and recovery has been our number one priority for this community. Looking forward, Rancho Mirage has some exciting and promising business opportunities on the horizon. Economic development throughout the city certainly hasn’t taken a back seat to this pandemic! The addition of new businesses and opportunities is on the move in our community and will be detailed more within this directory. Our economic outlook is bright and the quality of life in Rancho Mirage will continue to be preserved and enhanced. Please continue to support our local businesses and our community. A heartfelt “thank-you” to the Rancho Mirage Chamber of Commerce for putting this resourceful directory together. L abor and employment attorney Karen Sloat and her team at the Law Office of Karen J. Sloat, APC (“LOOKS”) have a mission to serve clients with excellence. Everything they do is focused on “Caring for Clients While Pursuing Justice.” Karen came to the Coachella Valley over 20 years ago, bringing her legal expertise and experience in over 20 different practice areas of law, as a licensed attorney in three states. After a short time practicing in our Valley, she realized that small to medium-sized employers and disadvantaged, underserved employees here needed affordable, but exceptional, legal counsel and representation. With her vast litigation experience, Karen formed LOOKS to take on the Goliath opponents, quelle the fears of clients who could lose everything, and fill the gap in the legal community. Karen is passionate about employment law because almost every worker in California is an employee or employer who needs help to understand statutes, regulations, caselaw and rules that govern how we all work. Many need critical advice on how to handle stressful lawsuits. At LOOKS, we love to explain the laws, train on best workplace practices, and solve workplace problems that could ruin relationships and careers, if not addressed. We get excited about turning unjust, horrible situations – whether pre-litigation or in litigation – into “justice for all.” Our core motivation is providing superior legal services to employees and employers, who need strong advocates and wise, knowledgeable legal counselors. When employers do not know how to follow the laws, they make assumptions or mistakes and then get sued – often losing the business that was their life-long dream. When employees do not know their rights, they often don’t receive proper wages for their hard work or suffer in a hostile work environment, without hope of a fix. By representing both employers and employees, this unique law firm team comes to the rescue! The Team at LOOKS brings unparalleled savvy and strategy to every dispute and can advise individuals and businesses on complex employment issues with ease. Let us share with you our passion about your employment law issues. We offer many free consultations, complimentary handbook and policy reviews, flat fees on Workplace Solutions packages, contingency fee arrangements for many individual clients, and reasonable hourly rates for billed work. Red Jeep Tours by Desert Adventures N estled in the foothills of the Indio Hills lies Metate Ranch, a private desert sanctuary where Red Jeep Tours by Desert Adventures conducts their award-winning San Andreas Fault Jeep and Hiking Tours. Named “Best of the Best” (Editor’s Choice) by Palm Springs Life Magazine for 2021, Red Jeep Tours had been providing engaging, educational, and entertaining outdoor adventures since 1988. On their signature San Andreas Fault “Bones of the Earth” Jeep Tour, you visit a private natural palm oasis where water seeps up through the ground year-round, supporting plant and animal life including coyote, fox, and a variety of birds, lizards, and snakes. Tour a ceremonial house, sweat lodge, and kishes (family huts) adorned with interpretive displays portraying the lifestyle and culture of the Cahuilla People. The highlight of the trip is a journey through the desert badlands landscape as your Jeep snakes its way through narrow, winding canyons that were thrust up by geologic forces and carved by wind, water, and time. Red Jeep Tours also offers hiking tours at Metate Ranch. The “Four Posts Canyon Hike” starts out in a wide, level wash that narrows to winding, intermittent high-walled canyons and rising gradually to re- veal an incredible view of the valley floor below.
